The journey through time and space, of this world and others, of this lifetime and those lived before, calls my soul back time after time to Notre Dame. I have a love and something less than love for Paris. When I’m there, I’m in awe of it’s magic, it’s history, the love. I also feel an extreme heaviness in the city. Yet I always go back, and I go back for Notre Dame. I sit in the pew surrounded by the beauty, taking in the calm and peace brought to tears by the intensity of the feelings. The history and stories of all this building has seen, has survived, has loved. It will survive again, to listen to new stories, to love and be the sanctuary for those in need of the calm.
