Hey if you See This can you reblog this or comment on this with a character you headcanon as aromantic, asexual, or both. It can be canon it can be founded on absolutely nothing I just need more aroace stuff on here #yay
A German regional court has ruled that Google is directly liable for the content of its AI search overviews. According to the court, previou
Let’s fucking go
This is HUGE.
1. The court holds Google responsible for statements made by its AI, considering them Google's statements (search engines have limited liability for results in their engine as they're the words of other sites/companies/people), meaning when their AI lies/hallucinates they're liable for the defamation/harm resulting from those statements.
2. Google's defense that customers are generally aware of the lack of reliability and are responsible for fact checking was dismissed. As the court pointed out, that would "significantly diminish" AI Search's stated purpose and it can't be distinguished from Google's business practices/statements as a search tool.
3. Studies have found about 91% of Google's everyday AI responses are accurate, leaving millions of searches per HOUR with potential liability for falsehoods. 56% of correct responses weren't supported by the sources the AI listed. Both of which mean Google is now liable for a LOT more AI "errors."
4. Google was held liable for 80% of court costs in this case and this precedent is expected to reverberate around the world. This is a massive shift from the 3rd-party search provider role Google has previously played and it comes right as they've tied ALL searches to their AI search.
TL;DR Google reeeeeally stepped in it this time.
Additional source and more details below. Absolutely thrilled to say that this is real. And yeah, it's huge.
For all the reasons above AND ALSO because this particular lawsuit is a defamation case
Privacy lawsuits are hard because most privacy laws are super super weak, and there's very rarely a lot of money or enforcement backing privacy laws for...twenty million reasons, really...
But defamation suits? Those have teeth.
(In large part because, at least in some countries and including in the US, defamation laws protect public figures the least - and "public figures" legally includes most if not all politicians, and a hell of a lot of other rich ppl too)
A Munich court ruled Google's AI Overviews are its own words, making it liable for false claims, a decision that, if it holds, could reach e
A German court has ruled that Google can be held directly liable for false claims made by its AI Overviews, a decision that could put a serious legal dent in the whole “the AI made me do it” defense. According to The Next Web, the Regional Court of Munich issued a temporary injunction after Google’s AI Overviews wrongly tied two Munich publishers to scams, subscription traps, and dubious business practices. The court treated those AI-generated summaries as Google’s own statements, not just ordinary search results pointing to third-party pages. That distinction matters. Search engines have traditionally had more protection because they index and link to other people’s content. AI Overviews changes the machinery. Google is not just showing the web anymore. It is summarizing it, rewriting it, and sometimes apparently hallucinating a tiny legal grenade into the results page.

alright I've got to do some quick math to explain attitudes towards AI to my boss.
we're looking to create an AI policy, and when we were talking about this, my boss (older millennial) was genuinely shocked to hear that younger people do not (seem) to view AI positively (a la the recent commencement speakers being booed)
please rb for larger sample size!
Question 1/3
What is your age, and do you feel AI is a net positive or net negative in our lives today?
under 18, AI is a net positive
under 18, AI is a net negative
18-29, AI is a net positive
18-29, AI is a net negative
30-45, AI is a net positive
30-45, AI is a net negative
46-60, AI is a net positive
46-60, AI is a net negative
over 60, AI is a net postive
over 60, AI is a net negative
Question 2/3
How often do you visit or interact with museums/archives (whether in person or online)?
Frequently (multiple times per month)
Often (multiple times per year)
Occasionally (a couple times per year)
Rarely (once every couple of years)
Never :(
Question 3/3
If you saw a museum was using AI in exhibits, marketing, research, etc., would you be more or less inclined to visit that museum?
under 18, more inclined
under 18, less inclined
18-29, more inclined
18-29, less inclined
30-45, more inclined
30-45, less inclined
46-60, more inclined
46-60, less inclined
over 60, more inclined
over 60, less inclined
Thank you for helping with this data collection. Please rb for as big a sample as possible!
Edit: AI here is referring to generative AI, rather than closed models or custom made LLMs trained on internal datasets
Edit" "tumblr is not the best place to do data collection" "most biased sample group" yup. cool. good.

I love vague labels that make people go "but that's confusing" or "but that could mean anything" Good. Keep guessing lol
"Queer doesn't actually tell me anything" who says I wanted to tell you anything. Who even are you.
OH!
You mean Labels that people use for themselves!
I thought you meant labels on groceries.
Like Fat-Free Water, or Vegan Lettuce
let’s all be grown women together❤️
let’s all get old and have wrinkles and sun damage and facial hair ❤️
please no one disturb me I am doing important research on wikipedia dot com today
I see I've released a new word into the tumblr ecosystem, glad we're all being totally normal about it <3

That post about death note being "everyone's first anime" (untrue statement) made me curious and now I want to gather data for science
Can you reblog this and tell me where are you from and what was your starter anime?
Something really cool that I've been doing is just sitting my glasses wherever when I go to bed. nothing better than starting your day out with a scavenger hunt.
The hooded robed cultists are hit with a spell that makes their robes fall off. What's the funniest thing for them to be wearing underneath the robes?
nothing
comically heart-patterned boxers
another identical robe
extremely mundane clothing
sexy lingerie
the exact same outfit as the hero/s
I have a better idea, and I'll tell you about it in the comments
I can't decide which is funniest
So I Started Watching One Piece… Thoughts So Far
Im really bothered that this anime is as good as everyone says it is
Watching the anime makes me even More pissed about the female character design because there is so much distinct design and diversity in all of the male characters— even the background people you only see in crowds for 3 seconds!!
Like Oda is GOOD at character design!! He’s Really Skilled!!! But as soon as it’s a woman were supposed to like im the narrative he trips into the attractiveness trap
I think sanji is so freaking cool I’ll be honest
I thought I would find luffy annoying but he’s actually really fun and I understand why everyone looks up to him now
I Like Zoro’s Character Design So Much
The way everyone’s add break wanted posters have different musical themes is very fun and cool to me
Nami's departure from cocoyashi after the arlong arc was very funny and touching to me
Something something reocurring plot point of characters acting cruel in order to push the people they care about towards some goal?? idk, its just very interesting to me the way zeff and the chefs tried to get sanji to leave and also the way the whole villiage let nami act like a thug when they knew she was actually trying to save them all
Fuck Kuina's dad fr. I don't care if he was a good dojo sensei or if he helped Zoro train. Fuck that guy.
Love how Nami condemned a man to terrible death via inevitable drowning and the whole crew was like, 'Nice!! good save Nami, we were in a tight spot!'
I'll be honest Ussop is not my fav, but he is pretty cool as a marksman
I really really loved that Ussop got his nose from his mother. That detail is so important and special to me.
List Of: Media Tropes and Conventions that I Personally Don’t Jive With
Styled/dyed hair being ‘surprisingly soft’. Please please please that character has a bleached perm with 2 cans of hairspray in it it’s not soft and it doesn’t have to be please let hair be dry and tangled and rough and sticky
Comically, supernaturally bad cooking skills. They followed the recipe and have all the correct ingredients but somehow the pancakes are sentient. This is cooking is difficult propaganda, and it’s exhausting to me. Obv, if it’s a first timer trying to make French pastries, it won’t turn out, but please please please stop treating cooking like an arcane art and inborn talent
They always smell like 2 different things and something ‘uniquely them’. I acknowledge that there is really no better way to describe people's natural scents, but it’s still getting repetitive, seeing the same phrasing every time.
POV character always notes how attractive the love interest is even before any feelings exist, but only do this for the love interest and no one else.
^^^ I know this is to establish that ‘instant connection’ between them and show the reader that these are the intended end game pairing. But I find it frustrating, because if you are the kind of person who comments and gets caught up in the appearance of strangers when you meet them, then they should theoretically do it for most attractive people they meet. That they only do it for the love interest could mean that the love interest is just That Attractive I guess??? But usually, they aren’t. There is very little media where the love interest is actually that markedly More Attractive than the rest of the cast. It would make sense that the POV character finds them to be more attractive than anyone else in the room AFTER they have feelings, because affection creates a bias and that makes sense. But when they have Only Just Met??? It does not make sense to me, I find it to be aggravating.
On that note ‘instant connections’ piss me off. I suppose they are kind of cute in a way, but I mostly find them to be contrived.
Comically dumb people being shown to work very hard or put a lot of effort into an intellectual venture only for it to fall flat because they are the ‘dumb character’ and therefore all that work is just played off for a gag. SpyXFam I’m looking at you.
Fat characters becoming skinny and getting a bunch of romantic attention because of it. It will never not be kinda gross and weird to me. This includes fat characters who for some reason have a sexy skinny version of themselves that they can pull out of their back pocket for some reason??
wake up babe new ao3 canonical tags are here
I humbly suggest that true crime freaks should get into learning about scammers instead of serial killers. I LOVE reading about fraud and grifts and pyramid schemes. true crime ppl have all this paranoid energy about murder, which is rare in the grand scheme of things.....maybe instead that could be channeled into some productive rage toward capitalism.
And u know a side effect of learning about scam artists is that you start to understand certain things about economics, and just how STUPID these systems are and how easily they are taken advantage of....and I'd much rather people gained a passing familiarity with economics than whatever armchair psychologist shit these true crimers get on. We need fewer people who think they're experts on "sociopaths" and more people who understand how people like Elizabeth Holmes and the WeWork guy were able to do what they did
Here are some of my favorite books about financial scams:
The Wizard of Lies: Bernie Madoff and the Death of Trust by Diana B. Henriques.
The Big Short: Inside the Doomsday Machine by Michael Lewis (about the 2008 stock market collapse).
The Caesar's Palace Coup: How a Billionaire Brawl Over the Famous Casino Exposed the Corruption of the Private Equity Industry by Max Frumes and Sujeet Indap. (I admit I've never finished this one; the writing is hard to read.)
The Great Beanie Baby Bubble: Mass Delusion and the Dark Side of Cute, by Zac Bissonette. I bought this book because of the subtitle and I have never regretted it. You must read it.
Catch Me If You Can by Frank Abagnale. They turned this one into a movie! The book was very different and is worth reading.
The Cult of We: WeWork, Adam Neumann, and the Great Startup Delusion, by Elliot Brown and Maureen Farrell. I haven't read this one yet, but it's on my tbr pile!
Opus: The Cult of Dark Money, Human Trafficking, and Right-Wing Conspiracy Inside the Catholic Church, by Gareth Gore. I'm reading this one right now. The author is a financial journalist who stumbled onto this story by unraveling a bank failure in Spain.
And here's a list of more non-fiction books about fraud and financial scams. The first book on this list is about Theranos and Elizabeth Holmes, which I also haven't read yet.
Enjoy!
there’s a friday ass vibe about this wednesday boys keep your wits about you
Yo, what's your ao3? You've mentioned in the past that you upload there, but you've never actually given your ao3 out.
It’s Moiko17, it should be in my user? If it’s not I need to fix that
Oh god, I'm kinda stupid, I never actually read your username, I apologise
