It takes ten times longer to put yourself back together than it does to fall apart.

Burger King will give you a whopper for one cent if you go within 600 feet of a McDonald’s and order one from their app
First of all, power move
Second, this means any poor person with a phone and the new Burger King app can literally get food for a penny just by going to McDonalds, which is probably a goddamn lifesaver if you’re regularly worried about where your next meal is coming from
This lasts until December 12, 2018
So, yeah. Save some cash and stay fed.
The real cherry on this shit cake is that no one I’ve spoken to is getting any kind of email or notification that their posts have been flagged as explicit.
This means that come the 17th, you may just get banned at random for having posted Kingdom Hearts 3 Official Promotional Art (Rated E for Everyone), and have no idea why.
Because you thought your blog was SFW, and the ban-bot is losing its fucking mind, and no one told you that you’d been targetted.
So like, please. If you see someone has been flagged as NSFW incorrectly, let them know.
Because tumblr sure fucking won’t.
Also, I’d encourage any content creators, especially artist, to check their posts themselves, even if you don’t think you have anything that would be flagged - several of my sfw, black and white line drawings from nearly a year back were flagged. God knows why, but I think it’s safe to say even avoiding flesh tones will not guarantee your work won’t be flagged. Check your posts.
For many of us, Tumblr was the place that we first got to discover and share our fandoms, art, and identities. Though some of us may have migrated to other platforms, the site has thrived as a place for communities to come together and explore. Sadly, today Tumblr announced that they would be banning adult content from the platform, which would eradicate the majority of what people still visit it for. Tumblr forcibly banning pornographic material is a profound misunderstanding of who their audience is and has always been. — Minovsky (@MinovskyArticle) December 3, 2018 Over the 11 years since it was founded, Tumblr has become a place synonymous with porn, NSFW fan art, erotic fanfic, and a whole bunch of other adult material. Until recently, that was essentially policed by the platform's use of Safe Mode, which enabled users to use search filters to avoid the NSFW side of the site. The site played a large part in changing perceptions of what was attractive and acceptable in porn and

counterfeit—chapter thirteen [newsies x reader]
A/N: Wow I’m not dead, sorry I disappeared for a while, life is crazy. Anyway, I’ll fix all the technical stuff in the morning, it’s late. Also, sorry if this stinks, I’m tired and it’s been a while since I’ve written anything.
“FINAL GOODBYE”
JACK HAD MADE SURE you found your way home this time, leaving you at your apartment doorstep, bidding you farewell. A sense of gloom entered your stomach as you climbed up the stairs. If you didn’t have Spot Conlon then you were screwed. How was supposed to work, anyway? How were you supposed to make money, to buy medicine, from a job that you weren’t even attending?
Your feet were heavy as you clambered up the stairs, the weight becoming all too real. You fumbled for your key before inserting it into the door and turning it. The dark oak door creaked open and you stepped inside.
How long could you keep this lie up? How long would you be able to fool them and maintain their trust?
One more worry after another piled onto your mind. You shook off the boots that’s you’d been wearing all day and stumbled around in the dark in the socks that were two sized too big for you. You reached to pull a pin from your pulled up hair, but a string of coughing and a loud thud grabbed your attention. You ran over to the bedroom you’d been avoiding all this time.
Your shaky hands tore open the brass knob and you ran over to the side of the bed.
"Momma? Are you okay?” You called abruptly, voice shaking. Your mother blinked and she turned her head to face you. She gave a small cough, and looked at you dead in your eyes.
“[Y/n], I–” another cough, “–I love you, so very much.” She paused. Your brow furrowed, confused.
“Momma, wha—”
“I’m proud to have been your mother.”
She took your hand and began to run back and forth on your knuckles.
“Momma, no.” Tears began to well and you found it hard to speak with that large lump in your throat.
“[Y/n], if there’s one thing I’m proud of, it’s you,” she looked at you, squinting her eyes.
“Did I ever tell you that story about your father, the one where we found out we were going to have you?”
You shook your head.
“Well, he of course wanted a little boy, your father always wanted a son.” She explained, “He insisted that you were a boy, even thought I explained that you could’ve been either. He always said that the two of your would play ball together and that he would teach you to shine shoes.”
She looked off into the distance as she reminisced on the events that had happened nearly sixteen years ago.
“He never did get to see you be born, of course.” She paused again, her eyes resting off on a far corner in the room.
“He–he had been caught in a fire in the old textile factory.” She swallowed. “It had always been you and I from that moment. Me and my sweet angel. [Y/n] and her momma.”
You were shaking as tears spilled down your face.
“But now,”
“I think it’s time that it’s just [Y/n].”
Your heart stopped.
“Momma, no!” You shrieked, your words nearly unintelligible. She squeezed your hand tighter and gave a soft shush.
You rushed to hug her, arms wrapped around her weak figure.
“I’m so proud of you, [Y/n].” She whispered into your hair. “You’re such a brave and strong young woman. I have no doubt that you’ll be able to face this world on your own.”
You held her still.
“Just remember, continue to be kind, and continue to be courageous. Continue to be that little girl who stood up to that bully at the park one day. Continue to be the girl who dropped out of school for her mother’s well being.”
“Be brave.”
You didn’t even have to look to realize that she was gone. Her arms around you lost their tension and her last breath had been heavy.
You shook with sadness, never letting go of your momma.
+=+
You knew something had to be done when it came to the aftermath. You couldn’t continue to pay for the apartment, and you couldn’t just leave your mother there forever. You’d locked the room shut last night and weren’t planning on heading back in.
You’d decided that you’d call the coroner, and leave a notice for the management, all before abandoning the scene. The call to the coroner had been simple, just telling them to come by when you weren’t going to be here. But packing up everything you owned in a tiny newspaper sack while exhausted wasn’t quite easy.
You had scanned the house, picking out everything you needed. You took an extra change of “Frank’s” clothes, as well as one of your more feminine outfits. You packed what little bread you had left over and all the change you could manage.
Where you were going? You weren’t quick sure, but you had planned on asking Jack where he would recommend. You left the apartment, holding an envelope tightly in your hand. You threw it down on the counter as you briskly exited the building.
The envelope housed the key to the apartment and a note from an unreliable source, claiming that the apartment was no longer in use.
The note had made it seem as if the [L/n]’s had never existed.
As if [Y/n] was nothing more than a ghost.

How dare you
It's so good
People seriously underestimate the impact the media has on notions of pet ownership and what people can handle in animals.
Books, movies, TV, and internet videos from Youtube, Instagram, and The Dodo often show animals in their best moments, or even acting because they’ve been trained to do certain tasks (or are animated as humanlike characters). The fact is that the vast majority of people, even those who already have pets, have a very low or nonexistent level of animal literacy; what they take away from that kind of media oftens turns into “I want that animal as a pet.”
People who watched Finding Nemo created an explosion of demand for clownfish and blue tangs; Harry Potter, owls; 101 Dalmatians for dalmatians, etc etc etc. When the decision to get a pet modeled after the cute, photo-ready animals seen on a screen is made, there is zero consideration as to whether or not their needs can be met and if people can actually handle them.
Media featuring animals inevitably creates a boom of abandonment and huge environmental impact precisely because people who were in over their heads and acted purely on a whim got their dose of reality, and it’s incredibly heartbreaking to have to see the news detailing such cases. These are just some examples:
Yearly reminders have to be passed around telling people not to buy rabbits on Easter unless they’re committed to actually taking care of them
Thousands of dalmatians were abandoned when families discovered that they are very energy intensive, broody work dogs that are not suited to families with small children, unlike the cuddly Perdita and Pongo
Similarly, huskies and malamutes were surrendered to shelters when people realised they are not loyal Westeros direwolves
Entire ecosystems in Europe and southern Asia lost valuable apex predators when people began poaching them to sell to fans who wanted their own Hedwigs and Errols, and again abandoning them en masse when they discovered owls are highly aggressive, loud, messy, and nocturnal
Japan imported thousands of North American raccoons after the release of the Disney movie Rascal, people let them loose in the wild, and Japan now has a problem trying to figure out what to do with their enormous pest population that has no natural predator in place to control their numbers
Pacific Reefs suffered greatly when people demanded to have clownfish and blue tangs as pets, especially considering they were caught by being stunned with sodium cyanide, which, additionally, severely damages coral as well. NatGeo estimates that up to 90% of tropical fish imported by the US are caught by way of cyanide fishing; this often ends up for naught as these fish are often flushed down the toilet or released to the wild in other ways, which is also why the Caribbean and Gulf of Mexico are under threat by voracious invasive species like lionfish
The gist is that the media perpetuates this cycle of people reading about or seeing animal characters, demand is created, people impulse buy those animals, and then leave them for shelters to care for or release them to the wild when they get a rude awakening and find they’re actually unable to deal with those animals.
This isn’t even counting other animals like “mini” pigs, chihuahuas, snakes, foxes, etc etc etc. And we can’t exactly blame this on over enthusiastic children when it’s adults who have the purchasing power to buy a pet, and who choose to do zero research, and who choose to indulge said children or even themselves when that I Want the TV Animal as a Pet urge comes on.
Ignoring what is essentially weaponised cuteness used for online likes is hard, especially when faced with such palatable stuff like that gif of the owl riding the tablet stylus, or the plethora of cat videos. But it costs very little effort to not only educate yourself on the needs of animals and to also not encourage a rapacious pet trade industry, but to communicate that to others so that, hopefully, we won’t have to see things like Peter Dinklage and Jo Rowling having to make statements to the news because of this problem.
