That test thing sounds familiar! I was always the first one to turn tests in, and i didn't check the answers after i was done. I noticed, that the first answers are usually right and overthinking just lowers my grades.
Me too!
I had a parent-teacher meeting in like 7th grade where my German teacher suggested (snack-based) strategies to keep me in the room for longer when writing tests, because the only errors I ever made wee silly mistakes, but I would always have in after once through and leave after 1/3 if the allocated time...
My first thought was âis that Hermione?âÂ
And then:Â â#behold your new hermione headcanonâ
same ^^
Me: âHermione?â *scrolls down, finds text* âI know, right!?â
SAME, OH MY GOD
That bipolar feel when you get annoyed at people trying to make you happy bc you know you canât be happy right now and so theyâll just end up disappointed while youâll end up feeling guilty abt being such a disappointment
I wear glasses. Â Can I manage without glasses? Â Well, yes, probably. Â I could squint a lot, constantly move up close to anything I want to see, take the bus or a taxi if I want to go anywhere. Â I could just accept that Iâll never be able to see eagles flying in the sky or whales jumping out of the ocean. Â But why? Â Why try so hard to manage life when I could just put on a pair of glasses? Â No one would ever suggest a near-sighted person should just work harder. Â No one would say âMaybe thatâs just your normalâ to someone that needs glasses. Â They would say âLetâs go to the eye doctor and get you a prescription so youâre able to see again.â You shouldnât have to try so hard.
My doctor (paraphrased), when I expressed doubts about going back on an anti-depressant. (via

This is such a good analogy because nobody thinks about it like this. Â If you wear glasses, you literally need constant use of a medical aid to experience the world like most people do. Â If it were anything besides glasses, that would be considered a disability. Â But needing glasses is an extremely common, visible, and accepted form of disability to the point that we donât even consider it one, we just accept that some people need glasses and thatâs perfectly normal and thereâs nothing wrong with needing to rely on them.
That is how all disabilities and illnesses should be seen, and how we should look at treatment for them.  You have a problem, and you need help dealing with it, and thereâs nothing wrong with either of those things.  Thatâs perfectly normal and thatâs okay.

please donât assume people would fake neurodivergence. the vast majority of the time, i doubt thatâs the case, considering how terribly stigmatized and discriminated against neurodivergents are, in the majority of society. itâs actually likelier that some neurodivergents in your life are trying to pass, in order to avoid ridicule and discriminationâŠnot the other way around.

Mmmmmmm. Yes. I know very well That Look my wife gets when she realizes Iâm launching into That Story Again utterly oblivious to how sheâs heard it over and over and over again.
I can never remember who has heard what from me, so my family members have pretty much heard every interesting thing I have to say double digits numbers of times.
Except for when they havenât heard them at all. Nothing in between.
would it be okay if someone made an undiagnosed adhd feels blog?
I donât see any reason why not! I mean, the person who started closetedlesbianopinions (the first blog of this kind afaik) deleted and neither she nor the person who started closetedtransgirlopinions have told me this was inappropriate.
I wants the undiagnosed adhd feels blog to exist!
hades isnât a badass. hades named his three-headed-guard-of-the-underworld-dog spot. hades whispers to his flowers to make them grow. hades grows fruit. thereâs no sun in the underworld.
hades isnât a badass. stop saying this false thing
#hades probably double knots his laces
In myth, Hadesâ most remarked upon traits are 1) how responsible/reliable he is, 2)how sober-minded he is, 3)how dedicated, implacable, and long-remembering he is, and 4)how boring and grim most of the other Olympians think he is to be around. Oh and notably, that if you play him a song he likes, heâll basically give you anything you ask for(though not without conditions).
Hades is, canonically, a gigantic nerd. If theyâd had trainsets, heâd have been the Olympian who collected trainsets, meticulously corrected with exacto knife and hobby-paints the errors toy-makers introduced to those trainsets, and then endlessly talked about those trainsets to anyone sat next to him at Thanksgiving Dinner :| When he wasnât trying to rope them into an interminable discussion about gardening or divine law, that is :| :| Heâs the sort of god who frequently handed out punishment like giving someone a million-piece puzzle where every piece is shaped the same, that resets itself at the start of every day if you donât complete it, and then he keeps the last piece on his person at all times as a secret private joke for eternity because he finds you personally distasteful(not even because heâs mad at you or hates you particularly; he just doesnât like you as a person) :| :| :| He is. A Gigantic. Nerd.
Heâs also like one of the only gods who is faithful to his wife. And he listens to her like when she asks for a soul to be released and heâs like âBut honey, the rules.â And she just gives him that look and he goes âYes dear,â and lets the soul go with the easiest freaking instructions ever in a myth. And the human still fucks it up. Not his fault Persephone, not Hadesâ fault this time. Essentially, Hades is sorta like the accountant suburban dad who collects really specific figurines and gets really grumpy when people mess up his lawn. Do you know how hard his wife worked on those roses? He is calling his attorney. Oh wait, he is also an attorney.  Â

Everybody knows itâs Persephone that youâve got to watch out for.Â
Since several askers have told me about Aspergerâs still being a distinct diagnosis in countries that use the ICD, does someone by any chance have a link to the ICD diagnostic criteria for Aspergerâs as well as âstandardâ autism so I can add it to our resources tag? Thatâd be great, I donât want to exclude anyone whoâs looking for help.
Seems like the WHO publishes a whole pile of ICD texts. The first few hits I got on Google were for:
The Green Book (diagnostic criteria for research)
The Blue Book (clinical descriptions and diagnostic guidelines)
Autism shows up in the F8x-block âDisorders of psychological developmentâ, specifically under F84 âPervasive developmental disordersâ. Here we find:
F84.0 Childhood autism
F84.1 Atypical autism
F84.2 Rettâs syndrome
F84.3 Other childhood disintegrative disorders
F84.4 Overactive disorder associated with mental retardation and stereotypical movements
F84.5 Aspergerâs syndrome
F84.8 Other pervasive developmental disorders
F84.9 Pervasive developmental disorder, unspecified
The ICD-10 blue book does start its description of Asperger with: A disorder of uncertain nosological validity characterized by the same kind of qualitative abnormalities of reciprocal social interaction that typify autism, together with a restricted, stereotyped, repetitive repertoire of interests and activities. The disorder differs from autism primarily in that there is no general delay or retardation in language or in cognitive development.
These first few words, in particular uncertain nosological validity, put down concretely that the editors of ICD-10 are not all that convinced Aspergerâs syndrome should be a separate diagnosis from autism; but the diagnostic code and description remain available in the diagnostic system.
A proof even I can understand.
The Millennium Muses
Written back in May of 2015, this is how I imagined artists would invent muses for modern endeavors.

talk street magic to me
drawing power from the metro lines
illusionists busking illegally, shimmering lights disintegrating as they run
plant mages tending tiny rooftop and windowbox gardens
elementary kids learning basic sigils on the playground
wixen taking a while to key into the magic in new cities when they move
alchemists dealing on the side to support their experiments
middleschoolers making friendship talismans and amulets for everyone
numerologists whoâll do your math homework for $5 or divine your fortune for $10
kids mass-texting luck and speed spells when their parties get broken up by the cops
Hell yeah, letâs talk about magic.
Like elementary kids learning silly (or inappropriate) charms from each other on the bus, the same way we learned our first swear words. Clapping games across the bus aisle, but with spells instead of rhymes.
Worrying that your friend is getting into dark magic, but not knowing how to talk to them about it. Intervention programs for kids abusing hexes and runes, because magic has given them control over something for once in their life, and theyâre starting to make some dangerous choices.
Psychic teachers knowing when youâre cheating. Knowing when youâre having trouble with homework. Or at home. Knowing when you need tutoring or an AP course because youâre just not being challenged or a different teaching method because you canât process what youâre learning in class no matter how hard you try, and the teacher tells you itâs okay, they know. They know.
Magic graffiti. Graffiti in wild places, and graffiti that vanishes when certain people roll by like the police. Or graffiti that only appears when the police walk by to insult them. Murals. Swirling, living murals on the sides of buildings. Murals thatâif you listen closelyâcan be heard, not just seen.
In the evenings, kids hiding out in someoneâs backyard or an alley passing around a joint and casting minor illusions to watch while high.
Chalk artists making works that are so realistic, they come to life off of the sidewalk.
One man bands in the park, with instruments floating around playing themselves.
Punk concerts in empty lots with amped out music and lights, but noise-cancelling spells and illusion hide them in plain sight from anyone outside of the lot.
Mediums predicting people in need, and making sure to be there at just the right moment to lend them a helping hand. âYou seem upset, do you need to talk?â âOh, youâre a dollar short? No, donât put the milk back; Iâll cover you.â âI think your hair looks perfect today.â âYou really ought to try taking your resume to this store. Trust me.â
Necromancers in forensics speaking with the dead to solve homicides and cold cases. Living lie detectors as beat cops and detectives and DEA agents.
Strangely cheap five star food diners that bake actual love into their apple pie, and they always know your dietary restrictions without being told.
Service golems in various sizes and shapes, making sure their magic users arenât crowded, get medical attention, go where they need to, etc. They donât get distracted, they can be hollow to hold things like medications, and in rare instances⊠they seem to develop loving attachment to their users despite not being alive.
Little old landladies who dabble in witchcraft brewing homeopathic remedies for people in their apartment complex.
Street magic is an amazing concept.
I see a lot of positivity posts about 12-year-olds just learning to draw. Â Posts cautioning us to be mindful of 11-year-olds with no grasp of anatomy and 13-year-olds whose characters are all the same person with different hair and clothes, and I love those posts. Â Those are great posts. Â Keep those posts coming, tumblr.
But can I ask, what about the 25-year-old who just bought their first ever sketchbook? Â What about the 32-year-old whoâs been drawing for a month and has just about got the hang of a human-looking face? Â What about the 67-year-old who finally has time to sit down and learn how to paint like theyâve always wanted?
Not everyone starts drawing as a child. Â Not everyone learned as a preteen. Â Some people start in college. Â Some people start when their career is going well and they feel like itâs time for a new hobby. Â Some people start after theyâve retired.
Not all beginner artists are kids, and I just thing the adults ones deserve some encouragement, too.
Me, Iâm one of those.
In my family, thereâs a ton of artists. One of my aunts makes her living selling and teaching art â sculpture mostly, as I understand it. One of my aunts is a museum curator. My grandmotherâs done a ton of art.
I had an art teacher in 8th grade or so who declared me to âNot have an eye for pictorial artâ, and lowered my grade for this. I promptly absorbed âI suck at artâ and didnât do much of anything for the next several decades.
I change hobbies every few years, and dive deep once I start something. My parents built a dark room in our cellar, and so I spent a few years doing black/white photography and my own development. Then it died away.Â
In my late 20s I took up digital photography big time. Iâve shot a lot of photos, many photos Iâm really proud of. Iâve shown my photography at the Edinburgh Photographical Society, and won one of their monthly competitions. Turns out I have (or developed) an eye for composition, and Iâve always been drawn to the surprising and the absurd, so spot it quickly.
And then, about 2 years ago, in my early 30s, I got myself pen on a whim and started sketching stuff around me. My first sketch was of a Kleenex box and a pen holder while waiting to see my doctor. And I sketched. And sketched. And started picking up art supplies whenever they were on sale. And got ideas, and executed them. Sketching continued to watercolor pencils to watercolors. After about a year and a half, I went to a watercolor course retreat. This past fall, Iâve taken a studio class and really tried to see if I like oils and acrylics (oils are overrated â I think I get why oneâd want them now, but theyâre too much and too slow work for my taste).
Iâve pulled myself from convinced I canât create shapes on paper on my own to producing paintings and drawings that make me proud. Iâve sold a handful. And I started when I was 30+.
