I think that one of the funniest things about Legolas (especially in the movies) is that he’s literally the only Elvish prince in all of Middle-Earth but everyone treats him like he’s just a random guy. And he ACTS like just a random guy as well which makes it even better

There’s a lot more to it, but here’s a chart of Shire months from the appendices at the end of RoTK. Elves and men are different, but there was no handy chart.

No, Yule is 2 days, Lithe is 3 days counting midyear’s day, and on leapyear you get a second extra-weekly midyear’s day called Overlithe

Also even these names are “translated” from the Westron.

Also also the Yule, Lithe, and Overlithe days are considered not to belong to any week. This means that any given date in the Shire calendar always falls on the same day of the week! The only day on which no month began was Friday, so the Shire-hobbits’ version of “when pigs fly” was “on Friday the first.”

Yule and Lithe have days but not months. Only Midyear’s day is extraseminal (and Overlithe of course) because 364 is a multiple of 7. You can see it right there in the picture.

I forget which day the year begins, but if it’s Sunday, which it should be, that means the Shire Calendar has no Thursday the 20th

Okay so the year begins on SATURDAY, which means that Thursday the 20th happens every Astron (April) and Winterfilth (October)!

What I love about this, narratively speaking, is that the Shire feels like a lovely, fairly familiar home to us readers and things get strange when we start hearing of things beyon the Shire. The more you read and learn, though, the Shire is actually strange, not just for Middle-Earth (as the Elves point out) but for us as well, but you don’t have that feeling of home and familiarity taken away by the narrative.

Tolkien doesn’t actually sacrifice storytelling to worldbuilding; he tells the story and aticks these fun facts in an appendix (or brief footnote).
