This is finally done: a more concise description of demon summoning. This kind of handbook would probably have been given out to all the military cadet mages. For further reading:

i know all eyes are on the presidential candidates for this election, and rightfully so, but some very wonderful and important things are happening statewide that should be celebrated and highlighted, so here’s a few:
Florida passed Amendment 2, which will raise minimum wage to $15/hour by 2026
South Dakota, Montana, Arizona and New Jersey both passed an Amendment that legalized marijuana
Utah will now be removing gendered language in the Utah Constitution and will replace it with gender-neutral language
California passed Prop 17, which restores voting rights to previously imprisoned citizens
Delaware elected the first ever openly trans state senator
Ritchie Torres and Mondaire Jones are the first ever openly gay black members of congress
Cori Bush is the first ever woman of color to win a seat in Congress in Missouri
Mauree Turner became the first non-binary state lawmaker in America and the first Muslim member of the Oklahoma state house
Oregon has become the first state to decriminalize all drugs
Kim Jackson is the first out LGBTQ+ state senator in Georgia
One of the reasons I feel so comfortable using Tumblr over other social media is because this site is clearly too incompetent to be evil.
The basic business model of a social network is to harvest commercially valuable personal data and sell it, most famously via targeted ads. Anyone visiting my blog can clearly see that I am a queer furry who’s into video games and art. And yet I am only served ads for funeral homes, Bible story DVDs, and the current president’s reelection campaign (in 2018 for some reason)
Needless to say my click through rate has not been very good
Me: Runs a blog dedicated to dungeons and dragons and anime Tumblr: You know what, you strike me as a sporty type
I’m a social media manager for my day job and Tumblr is literally the only social media platform I can relax on anymore because it’s so incompetent when it comes to exploiting my personal data.
Pinterest over here sending me burning tampons and those “fat hiding” clothes, which I feel is just them mocking my tastes.
Sometimes I just... put an entire bulb of garlic in the oven for awhile and eat the whole thing plain

Monsters of Darkest Dungeon in D&D: The Shrieker
The Shrieker is one of my favourite enemies from Darkest Dungeon, particularly as it doesn’t present combat in the same way as most enemies in the game, dealing surprising amounts of damage before suddenly fleeing. Translated to D&D, the Shrieker should present an interesting encounter where players make camp on a moonless night, waking to find a feathered horror stealing their magic items, which flees, leaving only misshapen feathers as a clue for the search.
A Horror in the Night. The Shrieker was once a majestic corvid that inspired family crests for noble houses, illusive but magnificent. Yet, as time and corruption slowly took their course, the sublime avian giant grew tragically twisted and malformed. Not a dreadful predator like other horrors, the Shrieker has become a grotesque scavenger, a creature far more suited to a nightmare than to a noble house’s heraldry.
Trinket Thief. The Shrieker’s many eyes are drawn to all that shines, and it jealously hoards whatever glistening trinkets that catch its attentive gaze. While this may make it steal simple coins and jewellery, it is magic items in particular that draws the creature’s attention. Despite its misshapen size, the Shrieker is capable of unexpected feats of stealth, allowing it to rob sleeping travellers of their magic items before fleeing into the night with their hard-earned bounties.
The Shrieker’s Nest. Those seeking to fight the Shrieker typically find it at its nest, where the tragic horror hoards its stolen trinkets and baubles, for hunting the Shrieker on the wing is all but impossible, the creature’s immense speed making it far harder to hit than it is to track. At its nest, the Shrieker will still quickly give up a fight that it cannot win, but will leave it its wake whatever magic items it has hoarded it its nest.
The Shrieker’s stats were based on its in-game attacks, with general rules compared to other bird-like creatures like the Roc (which specifically gave me a guideline for the Shrieker’s high flying speed). The Shrieker’s high AC is inspired by its infamously high dodge, and a similar shock for players with the high damage on the Shrieker’s Peck attack.
Shrieker Magic Items When searching the Shrieker’s nest characters find 4 Magic Items from Magic Item Table B in the Dungeon Master’s Guide. In addition to the other magic items found, roll 1d4 to determine which Shrieker item it has left behind: 1 - Callous Talon 2 - Distended Crowseye 3 - Molted Tailfeather 4 - Molted Wingfeather
Callous Talon Wondrous Item - Very Rare This desiccated talon makes your attacks score critical hits on a roll of 19 or 20. In addition, when in dim light or darkness you gain advantage on Constitution saving throws, and when in darkness your melee attacks deal 1d4 necrotic damage in addition to their normal damage.
Distended Crowseye Wondrous Item - Very Rare This mutated eye grants you +1 to all attack rolls. In addition, when in dim light or darkness you gain advantage on Constitution saving throws, and when in darkness you gain advantage on Wisdom (Perception) checks.
Molted Tailfeather Wondrous Item - Very Rare This shed feather grants you +3 Dexterity. In addition, when in dim light or darkness you gain advantage on Constitution saving throws, and when in darkness you gain advantage on Wisdom saving throws.
Molted Wingfeather Wondrous Item - Very Rare This long, shed feather grants you +3 AC when wearing medium or light armor. In addition, when in dim light or darkness you gain advantage on Constitution saving throws, and when in darkness you gain advantage on Strength saving throws.
With these items, I gave each an appropriate effect to represent the second and third abilities coming into effect at low torchlight as they do in Darkest Dungeon. The disease resistance is represented by advantage on constitution saving throws, whereas each other ability was translated as directly as possible, such as the Distended Crowseye granting +1 to all attack rolls, representing the +10% Accuracy it grants in Darkest Dungeon.

Monsters of Darkest Dungeon in D&D: The Brigand Vvulf
“Flames on the horizon, sulfur in the air. The wolves are at the door.” In this week’s post, I’ve presented rules for Vvulf, a powerful brigand leader who will bring a truly explosive encounter to your games. To best use this enemy, he fits in perfectly as the leader of a brigand attack on a settlement, where a combat encounter can include players diving for cover behind rubble to get out of the way of Vvulf’s bombs.
Master of the Horde. A masterful tactician, perhaps through military past or simply long experience in burning his way through settlements, the brigand known as Vvulf commands his raiders with a violent tactical wit. Small groups of bandit forerunners begin attacking more brazenly preceding the arrival of Vvulf and more of his warriors, a brutal indicator of the chaos to come with the warlord’s arrival.
Everything Burns. Vvulf and his bandits seem to focus more on destruction at the height of a raid, for they find it much easier to rob the corpses of a burned village than leave survivors. Vvulf’s horde is entirely unsustainable in its destructive tendencies, taking what they can and leaving ruin in their wake.
Bombs Away. When in battle himself, Vvulf carries a heavy cask of explosives, which he uses to destroy fortifications, buildings, and any foes unlucky enough to be caught in the blast radius when a bomb goes off. In these situations, Vvulf often clips the fuses of some bombs, giving his foes a shockingly quicker death than expected. Vvulf also carries an immense reinforced steel tower shield, which he can slam into the ground to protect himself from the blasts of his own explosives, or simply use to pummel enemies who make it past the explosives into close range combat against the bloodthirsty warlord.
As a creature I wanted to make notably tough, Vvulf’s HP is towards the higher end for creatures of CR 10, almost comparable to young gold and red dragons. Vvulf’s main attack is his Bombs Away action, which rather than acting as a normal attack acts as an area-denial battlefield control attack. Coupled with Vvulf’s legendary actions Slam and Times Up! Vvulf is able to detonate bombs early (representing a clipped fuse that the player characters wouldn’t be aware of until the bomb goes off), or knock his enemies back into the bombs’ radii, all while keeping himself safely out of harm’s way with the Tower Shield reaction to prevent himself taking bomb damage (this was inspired by a heavy shield item from the Iron Kingdoms RPG).
Magic Item: Vvulf’s Tassel When Vvulf is killed, he drops the following magic item:
Vvulf’s Tassel Wondrous Item - Very Rare When a creature would suffer additional damage from an attack due to a spell or ongoing effect such as Hunter’s Mark or Hex, the additional damage is doubled. In addition, you score critical hits against Large or bigger creatures on a 19 as well as 20.

The total area of solar panels it would take to power the world, Europe, and Germany
“In just six hours, the world’s deserts receive more energy from the sun than humankind consumes in a year. (x)
I don’t care how many times I see this I will always reblog it
Stop spending money on war and lies and start spending it on ways to make this planet better.
I saw someone’s argument against trying to stop global warming and it was literally “What if global warming is fake and we make the world a better place for no reason?”
I knew that my contry was hot … but not that much
What if I told you,
The desert is an ecosystem too?
Don’t solar panels pollute more when being produced than conventional energy? According to this, they might pollute more than nuclear power.
And according to the comments, “ What little there is at the end of the line fails to define at what solar efficiency they’re talking about: current practical or theoretical 100%. Addtionally the graphic is not actually “to power the world” but to supply worldwide electricity. A large amount of power yes, but not the same thing. According to wiki it’s about 1/7 total power used.“
According to this page, it’s false. The actual area would be “four times the area of the UK.”
Solar also has the rather obvious drawback of needing sunlight.
So you still need a power station for base-load, or a battery system with all the problems that brings with it.
“… the world’s deserts ….”
People don’t live in them, generally.
Do they not teach about transmission losses?
Did someone literally highlight the headline and date of an ONION ARTICLE as if it were real?
I just wanted to hear this post in real life, and I chased that impulse.
Just that short “AHHHHHH” gets me EVERY TIME
OMG everyone I know the ACTUAL story behind the gif this time! Yes, it’s in Australia– that’s a big angry goanna that wandered into a popular restaurant. All the Australians in the vicinity went OH FUCK NO and cleared off, because goannas are mean. The waitress you see there is a French exchange student, who was quoted as saying something to the effect of “I thought it was a weird ugly dog” and had no idea it was a reptile that wanted to rip her arms off. She’s been hailed as a hero who saved diners.
It’s amazing what power “not knowing” has.
The thing I especially love about this is this is a pretty dangerous animal, except she managed to defeat it by just fucking grabbing it by the tail and walking too quickly for it to turn around. Once again the animal kingdom is thwarted because we evolved opposable thumbs, long limbs, and reckless bravery.
weird, ugly dog thwarted by foreign exchange student and polished floors
my take-home lesson here is that nobody in france has ever first-hand seen a dog
no no, french dogs just be like that
unrecognizable force VS ignorant object
the comments on this get better and better every time it comes across my dash
Might as well also share the comic I did for self indulgent purposes and got some RIDIC traction on twitter.
Also monster girlfriends are valid, woo you a chaos goddess today.

The other thing about measles is that it resets your body’s memory of other diseases. So all those times you’ve gotten sick? Your body’s memory cells no longer remember those illnesses, so even if you get the same type of illness again your body will react like it’s the first time you’ve been sick.
It’s so much worse than “just a disease”.
Measles does WHAT
Holy fuck
What the fuck what the fuck what the fUCK WHAT THE FUCK WHAT THE FUCK
antivaxxers also sabotaged the human lyme disease vaccine. they literally conspired online in usenet boards to go out and participate in the vaccine trials, and they all proceeded to complain of arthritis, the only symptom of lyme disease they were apparently aware of. this caused media hysteria about the vaccine. if you remember the flu vaccine hysteria around the swine flu epidemic, it was kind of like that. despite double-blind trials being unable to support their claims and instead displaying that the vaccine was safe and effective, the damage was done, and the vaccine was shelved in the USA. you can get a lyme disease vaccine in Europe, but Europe has a different strain of the bacteria that causes lyme disease.
Lyme disease can become very serious, it can infect the nervous system and cause neurological problems especially in young children who are often bitten on the head or the neck, undiagnosed it can cause chronic health issues that mimic other diseases. Without safe prophylactic measures beyond trying to minimize contact w ticks, this has driven people who have had lyme disease, have chronic effects from mass-disseminated lyme disease infection, or people who believe they have chronic lyme disease to go to quack doctors and undergo unsafe, unapproved medical treatment in an attempt to stop suffering.
This would not be happening on the scale that it is if antivaxxers didn’t straight up execute a supervillain plot to sabotage the lyme disease vaccine bc this happened the same year andrew wakefield published his fraudulent research on the MMR vaccine
https://www.vox.com/science-and-health/2018/5/7/17314716/lyme-disease-vaccine-history-effectiveness
these people are fucking dangerous beyond compare
