[Not a typical gimmick blog so much as intended to function as an omen post catalog]
What’s an Omen?
Any post with ill tidings, sinister aura, or foreboding content. Omens submitted here aren’t necessarily things that I (mod) think are bad, concerning, or scary—it’s just for the bit. Please only engage with Dire Omens if it is suitable for your mental state.

What’s a Dire Omen?
Dire Omens are default Omens for this blog! Dire Omens encompass general foreboding imagery and text, miscellaneous references that don’t fall under the other two categories: aliens, monsters, some magic (depending on applicability to the Curse), etc.
What’s The Curse?
Omens tagged with The Curse are those relating to the Amulet, Curses, sorcery, wizardry, witchcraft, magic, spells, realms, dimensions, mythical creatures which are not monsters (at my inconsistent discretion), and sometimes referring to real life such as habits and mental health.
What has been Foretold?
Posts which are As Foretold refer to prophecies, visions, scrolls, predictions, mythology, in some cases religious imagery (again at my discretion), apocalyptic symbolism, patterns, and recurring themes or motifs.
Why is this post tagged as a Good Omen?
It’s not related to the book or show; posts tagged as Good Omens are comparatively rare positive things I feel are worth highlighting (as opposed to Omens), often real news or events, informational posts, and analyses. I make sure to tag these as Good Omen (singular) to avoid confusion.
Can I really submit an Omen?
PLEASE DO! I have always wanted this blog to be more collaborative than it is, and would love to be tagged in the comments of posts you think count as Dire Omens, Curses, or Foretellings. If you aren’t sure, you can ask in your comment if I think the post is auspicious (a proper Omen) or ill (unsuited to the blog). If comments are disabled you can tag me in a reblog and I’ll respond in the chain. Follow the delightful and ever sniffing Omen hog at @dire-omen-hog

There are a lot of people in the notes saying, basically, "Yeah, that's polyester for ya!"
but, the thing is
even polyester fabric was higher quality in the past
yes, not all of it, but, still, a noticeable amount of older polyester was...nicer.
yeah, it would still get picks and hold on to every bit of underarm odor, and that's on top of no-one knowing about microplastic shedding
but a 1950s Wash'n'Wear shirt, or 1970s double knit pantsuit, or 1980s neon sweatshirt, or a 1990s slinky knit or crushed velour mock turtleneck...so many of them would have been significantly higher quality than the fast fashion of today.
i work in historical costume. i work in a big-ass warehouse, with hundreds of thousands articles of clothing dating back over 100 years (for original pieces).
the BLINDING difference in clothing quality between even the 1990s and the mid-2000s...not even going in to the decline in quality of clothing made in natural fibers (jeans with elastane, i'm looking at you), I've got faux-leather trousers from 1980s that are in near-mint condition, even after being hired and worn repeatedly for the past 40 years. we get donations of clothing that shows and films have bought online for contemporary shows that are disintegrating after being used on one show, for like....10 days, max.
don't even get me started on the seam allowances we used to get in clothes, because the assumption was you'd alter it at some point...
they hate you. they hate the planet. they have drip fed you worse and worse quality clothing until you don't even realize you're being sold Garbage
Oh, a human being is seeking a social response? Human being, the social animal wired to make and track social connection? A human desires the vital blood that permitted their species to survive for millennia? The human being who was born completely helpless and primed in every way by nature to seek attention and help from their community?
Wow that’s crazy. How embarrassing. Humiliating even. Should we isolate them from community? Should we call Wire Mother?
me: and this one is called “butter dog,” basically it’s a dog with butter on him
Werner Herzog: You put butter on the dog’s head? Very ugly. That’s very ugly. You have disgraced the animal. It is unnatural. It is abhorrent. Please do not show me this again.
No its not i found it firstand you cant have it Finders keepers and besides Idont have anything at all in this world anymore so maybe you could just let me have this
