This has happened about a month ago, i had went into my employer and told her something that i was afraid to tell them before they hired me. I had finally told them that i am transgender. So basically i had showed her my name change paperwork from the judge all approved and everything so she took my paper to make a copy and then before she came back to me she had went into administration to tell them what had just happened... i felt kinda awkward literally just standing there waiting for her... so finally she came back and this is what she had told me since you are a cna you will need your new social security card, your new birth certificate, and your new Id plus your new cna cert in order for me to change all of that. At first i was like well that’s fine i guess? But in my mind i just wanted my new badge reflecting my new name. Weeks later i start a new position in the nursing home and i proceed to go back down to HR and ask them again for a brand new name badge. I told them that walking around with my dead name made me extremely uncomfortable. And i told them that please use the proper pronouns... but again the lady in HR told me I’m sorry but you need to get all of those things first before any of that can happen. But i had told them I’m only asking you is for a new badge with my correct name. I wasn’t asking to change all of my w-2, w-4 or all that other stuff.. just the name badge. ... needless to say on August 8th i was walked out from the nursing home to find out that i lost my job... they kept calling my by my dead name and using the wrong pronouns to add insult to injury... they had fired me for stuff that was extremely false but it was primarily about the name badge. I had never felt so embarrassed in my life... and to make things worse they asked for the name badge i had made back... i was in tears... legit tears...
