i’ve decided the hollanov kids timeline i like is them deciding to have their first kid when they’re still playing but know they’re going to retire within 4-5 years maximum, so all their traveling happens when kiddo is too young to be in school and can travel to road games with them under the care of a nanny (possibly multiple depending on the length of the road trip). there are many reasons i like this timeline but a big one is because i like to imagine one time the nanny has to leave suddenly during a game because of a family emergency so for the rest of the game this toddler becomes an official member of the centaurs coaching staff. just picturing like, wiebe and an assistant coach and a two-year-old in noise cancelling headphones all frowning at an ipad reviewing a play with matching looks of concentration. and ofc afterwards shane does press while his daughter insists on sitting in his lap and completely steals the show like the famous steph and riley curry press conference

I was listening to City Of Stars on repeat and kept thinking about aroace grace. I love grace who is happy without a relationship, who doesn't need any romantic relationship to be fulfilled, but... I also keep thinking about Grace being a hopeless romantic. Grace who keeps hearing about love love love and nothing else, Grace who keeps waiting for that one true love, Grace who was more in love with the idea of romance than his actual girlfriend. Grace who just doesn't understand why it doesn't come naturally to him, why he can't seem to have what everyone else wants, what he keeps dreaming of. Maybe he thought Stratt may be the one for him. Maybe the idea of a big swooping romance with Stratt makes him want to claw his eyes out. Grace doesn't know what he wants.

when someone thinks they're joking they bring up the group chat with shane's parents, ilya scrolls back to a text where yuna calls him her favorite son. they bring up a video clip jackie sent of the twins saying "we love you uncle ilya!" shane brings up his thread with svetlana where she sends him russian words and phrases she thinks he should know.

they quickly enlist everyone who already knew, get them all onboard to pretend like their relationship wasn't ever top secret information. shane posts a picture of him with anya, when someone comments "that looks just like ilya rozanov's dog?" he just replies "yeah, we adopted her several months ago" and ilya replies "love our daughter ❤️"

the more people act like this is revelatory news the more they inisist that it's not. "we started a charity together!" "i moved to canada for him!" meanwhile everyone else is slowly losing their minds.

i do love and respect the idea of the world at large being stunned at finding out how long ilya and shane have been together, but i truly think that under NO circumstances would shane ever choose to offer ANY personal details about himself or their relationship willingly.

which combined with ilya loving just making things up and saying them (as seen in the "yes, the rumors are true-" scene) offers the very funny idea that ilya actively tries to offer as much privacy as possible by just throwing out stories about them at random so there IS no central story for people to hound shane about.

Thinking about ryland grace. Who remembered that he started studying the astrophage in a global effort to save earth and immediately locked the fuck in. Grace, who realised he was there for a reason and got to work, buried people that must have been friends. People he must have gotten to know as they prepared to go to their deaths together. Because he remembers that this is a suicide mission and he is here, so he must have made the choice to die for the cause alongside these corpses.

Ryland Grace, who doesn't remember making the choice, and doesn't feel like he is brave enough to make it, but he must have. He's here, so he must have. He must have been brave enough to say yes even if right now he is terrified and scared and wants to go home. At one point he was brave enough to board this ship and say goodbye to earth.
