Baby plants means spring is finally here!
Surprise Ending
âYou foul witch!â, the traitor cried, straining forward as the hood was pulled from his head and the poisoned knife was wrenched from his fist. She halted her stride forward, confusion and shock running down her face.Â
âY-y-you?â she stuttered, âbut....what?âÂ
The crowd stood in shocked silence as the two faced each other, the two guards maintaining their grips on both of his arms. He strained forward one more time, face red, mouth open and teeth revealed in a gargoyleâs grimace, then sank to his knees as the fight drained from his limbs.Â
Dismay and pain flashed across her face. âWhy?â she whispered in defeat, âWhat did I do?âÂ
His eyes flew from the floor to meet hers and an ugly sneer made itâs home on his once handsome mouth, âYou were born, isnât that enough?âÂ
The crowd drew back as she slowly paced forward until the edges of her gilded boots touched the velvet cape that gathered around him like a inky pool.Â
âIâve loved you like a brother, since before I can remember. What hate flows around your heart? What is the source of this madness?âÂ
âOh, spare me some dignityâ, he spat, âMust I ask for that too on my knees?âÂ
She searched his face for an answer. âIs it...? she faltered, âBecause of....?â His gaze skittered off to the side of the room, avoiding while simultaneously confirming. Tears bloomed, wilted, and fell.Â
âOh dearheartâ, she grieved, cupping his face in her hands, âYou had only ask. Be it in my power, I would have given you the moon.âÂ
Winter in Minnesota: sunrise at 0730-0800, piles of blankets, TV night cuddles, 7 layers of clothes when going out, emergency clothes in the car, no water just gallons of hot herbal tea, fires in the fireplace (but not when itâs too cold or the heating shuts off and the upstairs gets freezing), vitamin D pills, spring garden plans, seed catalogues, exercise by shoveling, only seeing the neighbors when it snows and we all have to shovel, hot chocolate, feelings of hibernation, difficulty getting out of bed in the morning, loving sunny days even if it means the temps are colder, feeling stircrazy by March, heavy comfort food, winter weight gain to keep warm, beautiful snowstorms and frost, matching hat/mittins/scarves sets knitted by mum, dad staying up late to make sure you get home from work during a cold snap, appreciating spring, warm coffee dates with friends, cosy dinners with visiting family members around solstice, catching up on book lists.Â

âThe I-Was-Sick Fic Recâ, also known as âThe I was sick so I spent 4 days straight in bed reading fics till my eyes bled Fic Recâ, so I came up with tons of fics that you NEED to read and an exaggerate desire to talk, put up with me!
- Metamorphose by clotpolesonly Rating: Teen and Up Audiences Details: 33k, 5 chapters, Merlin/Arthur, MPREG Summary: When Merlin falls into bed with Arthur, he doesnât expect for to wake up alone. He doesnât expect Arthur to give him the cold shoulder either, but there is something else he expects even less which forces him out of the kingdom for over a year. He returns to find a traitor in the court, an army on the way, and a love heâd thought all but lost waiting for him with open arms. Comments: This fic is pure perfection. Probably one of the best that Iâve ever read. And ok, itâs a mpreg, and I know that a lot of people donât feel comfortable with it, but I swear itâs not disturbing. (Trust me, I used to read/write Thorki fics where Loki is almost always pregnant so I know what disturbing means.) Do yourself a favour and read it!
- Jerusalem by Magnolia822 Rating: Explicit Details: 29k, one-shot, Merlin/Arthur Summary: Prince Arthur has spent his eighteenth year in a drunken haze of public debauchery, and after the latest round of incriminating photographs, King Uther is fed up. Though magic is outlawed and Magic Users are generally distrusted, Uther secretly hires a young sorcerer to keep Arthur in line, much to Arthurâs chagrin. But what starts out as an antagonistic relationship becomes much more as Arthur, increasingly drawn to his secretive young warden, begins to suspect there is something rotten in the state of Great Britain. Modern Royal AU. Comments: Forget The Student Prince, this is the best ModernRoyalty!AU. No, ok, Iâm joking, everyone worships that fic, but this one is equally wonderful and well-written.
- In Spite of Everything, the Stars by mushroomtale and Polomonkey Rating: Mature Details: 82k, 10 chapters, Merlin/Arthur, VIOLENCE and KIDNAPPING Summary: London. 2015. The government is set to vote on ending the microchipping of magic users, and Arthur Pendragon has been tasked with kidnapping prominent Magical activist Merlin Emrys to influence the outcome.Locked away in a house on the North York Moors, tensions rise and confrontation ensues as Arthur is forced to re-evaluate everything heâs been taught about magic, and Merlin finds himself in a struggle for his life. And the fact that theyâre falling for each other doesnât help⌠Comments: The art for this fic is STUNNING. And so is the story. And probably everyone already knows it, but I HAD to mention it. AWESOME.
- 40 Days and 40 Fights by dayari Rating: Teen and Up Audiences Details: 26k, one-shot, Merlin/Arthur, HOMOPHOBIA Summary: High school AU. In which Arthur is (a) the best captain that the volleyball team has seen in ages, (b) too handsome for his own good, and also Š decidedly not gay; although Merlin agrees with the first two, heâs willing to bet that Š is open for discussion. Comments: I already liked football!AUs, now I also like volleyball!AUs (thanks, I didnât need another obsession).
BROLIN
- Give it a tug by SlantedKnitting Rating: Explicit Details: 9k, one-shot, Bradley/Colin Summary: Bradley is really truly completely sure that Colin is straight. But then Colin lets another man touch his bowtie and Bradley suddenly realizes how really truly completely blind heâs been. Comments: Do you remember the interview where Bradley gave the interviewer a rude answer at the 2012 NTAs? Yes, exactly, add a drunk Bradley and blame it on the bowtie.
Sorry, this post is never-ending. Every fic is available on AO3. I hope the links work, in case they donât send me a message.

May the scent of thyme fill you with courage to walk the path before you. May it give you the strength to rise up when you fall. May your path be lit with the love of anemones. May they remind you of the ones that went before you and the ones that you are leading. And when the path comes to an end, may you rest on the leaves of lady's mantle. May it comfort your weary bones and wrap you in velvet, bringing sleep, peace, and security.

This is more or less my entire archive of Merlin/Gwaine fics, minus one that seems to have disappeared and a couple that had Merlin in other pairings as well. I didnât put in the summaries because, I mean. Thereâs a shit load of them. The post would have gotten way too long. But, enjoy!

Cities That Were At One Time The  Largest In The World
click here for the enlarged version!
this map is fascinating for a variety of reasons but the particular part of it that made me fall down a wikihole was the CucuteniâTrypillian culture, which I was not familiar with. they seem pretty cool for a variety of reasons but what caught my eye is that theyâd build a city, literally the largest city in the world they would build, and then theyâd live there for about sixty years, and then theyâd burn the fucker down. Why? Nobody knows. Theyâd move somewhere else and do the whole thing over, and then maybe move back and rebuild the first city identically on the same foundations. In one place they did that thirteen times.
this is some SCP type shit. what was chasing them. what happened in these cities that they needed burning down over and over
âŚwhat
right????? also i forgot my favorite part: we canât get buildings to burn down this way. weâve tried, nobody has actually managed to set a fire that leaves the same kind of rubble. it is notâŚtraditionalâŚfire
Also only a tiny handful of weapons have been found, and thus far not ONE skeleton has been discovered suggesting death by violent means. Toward the very end of their civilization, they started building defenses for their cities, but still almost no weapons meant to be used against human beings have been found. Apparently they were just. Peaceful.
And yet they lasted for centuries.
SoâŚmagic, right?
Theyâre a good boy. (via imgur)
