i hate the type of healthy person who says eating fruit is um actually bad for you because it’s “too much sugar” shut the fuck up these bananas are lucky they’re being consumed and not rotting on my counter like their ancestors

Bodies NEED sugar. And fat. But while bodies mostly need the nutrients that come wrapped in fat on a long term basis, they need sugar now. And again in 3-6 hours. And again. And you can take a break from eating sugar while you sleep, but you had BETTER eat some when you wake up. Actually, make it a double serving.

Fruit is good. It is a high density source of your body’s preferred sugars without the excess of processed sweets. Fruit also has water. And salt. And fiber. And a shitton of other nutrients you need.

Mostly, I want to know the tone. A 19th century war story isn’t gonna do it for me when I’m in the mood for a lighthearted austenesque romance - and those are both historical. A star warsy space romp isn’t gonna do it if I want to read about interplanetary political negotiations - and those are both sci fi. A fun gratuitious don’t-think-about-it-too-hard action story is not the same as a dark and complicated mob drama. A suspenseful thriller will bore me if I’m looking for a fast paced spy novel.

A fish trying not to get eaten wouldn’t slow down when the “predator” slows down. It also wouldn’t constantly swim in a circle near the edge of the tank; It’d try hiding. Also a fish in a tank in a a public place that is constantly filled with people is not likely to see people as predators.

yeah that fish is absolutely playing with that kid, if it really wanted to escape it would just dive into the reef in the center of the tank!

(Moorish Idols are reef fish and naturally will seek shelter in the nearest nook or cranny if they get scared.)

many people don’t realize this, but fish aren’t stupid animals! most of them are on par with mammals like mice and squirrels in terms of intelligence, and they absolutely do play.

I was at an aquarium a few years ago and decided to sketch a fish. It came up to me.

I decided to flip the book around and pressed it against the glass. Fish lost it
