I still think that my favorite urban legend/folklore fact is that there are certain areas in New Orleans where you cannot get a taxi late at night not because it isn’t safe, but because taxi companies have had recurring problems of picking up ghosts in those areas who are not aware that they are dead and disappearing from the cab before reaching the destination and therefore stiffing the driver on the fare causing a loss for the company.
An occupational hazard of cab driving I had not previously considered
I love that the nola problem here is not “ghosts in my taxi cab,” but “ghosts are FUCKING BROKE DEAD BASTARDS & I GOT BILLS”
Horror is when ghosts get into cabs and scare drivers Magical realism is when cab companies have to develop policies to prevent ghastly fare-theft
In a book about the tsunami in Japan in 2011, the writer talked about how there was a huge increase in reports of ghostly activity. Apparently in Japan treating ghosts rudely is basically considered the stupidest thing you could possibly do. For months after the tsunami, taxi drivers would pick up a passenger only to have them give an address in one of the devastated areas. The cab driver often looked up halfway to the destination to find their fare had disappeared. Not wanting to be impolite to the person (even if they were dead) they’d drive to the address, open the door to let them out, then drive away.

No One Forced You To Get Married
one of my coworkers said something like this and it made me think about married culture in the US. his wife had been out of town for the week and he was really excited to go home and see her and we asked if they were doing something special, and he was like “No??? I just missed my best friend.”
Hello, Can you provide some recommendations for reading for a relatively new Dom and sub who wish to educate themselves? We are both looking for guidance during the journey into a fulfilling relationship together.
Congrats to you both for embarking on this fulfilling journey. Here are a few of my favorite resources:
Conquer Me by Kacie Cunningham The New Bottoming Book by Dossie Easton & Janet W. Hardy SM101 by Jay Wiseman The Loving Dominant by John & Libby Warren
Screw the Roses, Send me the Thorns by Molly Devon and Philip Miller - I haven’t read this one yet but it has a good reputation.
I also like www.dominantguide.com and www.submissiveguide.com, as well as www.kinkly.com.
And, finally, @instructor144 has a ton of resources with great information.
Wishing you the best! -asubmissiveview
I have a headcanon that Hermione insists her children attend some primary muggle schooling before Hogwarts, just as she had done. Now, imagine Arthur Weasley attending his grandchild’s science fair, being the ultra proud grandfather….and yet also completely geeking out over absolutely EVERYTHING.
Canon
“That is a volcano, that is a VERY SMALL VOLCANO, how - young lady, how did you make this? Baking soda and food coloring? MARVELOUS!”
the kids would love him.
Never have I ever loved anything more than I love this
All the muggle teachers would think he was being so adorable, “pretending” not to know how potato batteries and mini-volcanoes work, fawning over the hard work the kids did on even the simplest the projects. And he comes every year, because after the kids have aged out (”gone on to some boarding school in Scotland,” the teachers say over bad coffee in the break room, “they didn’t seem the type”), he gets an honorary invitation to the fair every year, because he never stops making the kids feel smart and good.
“And this airy-o-plane, it flies by means of a… rubber band? Did I hear that correctly? No magic at all? Doesn’t flap its wings like a bird? MARVELOUS! What an ingenious method of flight!” *looks around* “You, sir! With the ribbons! This child deserves one of those prizes!”
@deadcatwithaflamethrower
This is so wholesome.
Arthur Weasley, as the Science Fair attendee we all deserve.
After a couple years Arthur Weasley brings his own ribbons. They shimmer in a way that makes everyone wonder what kind of ink he uses—“secrets!” he tells anyone who asks—but they’re beautiful. They’re coveted even more than the official ribbons, because they remind you that while he was heaping praise on you, you felt magical.
:D
I cherish these Wholesome Headcanons!
it got better!
SO CUTE AND NICE :D
crying omg
She took up acting because the malnutrition she suffered under the nazis permanently damaged her health and prevented her from pursuing her dream to be a ballerina. During the war, she danced to raise money for the resistance - even though she was literally starving, she used what strength she had to make sure more nazis got shot.
She and her mom also denounced their royal heritage because of the Nazis in their family
Also Audrey was a humanitarian until her death, though ill with cancer, she continued her work for UNICEF, travelling to Somalia, Kenya, the United Kingdom, Switzerland, France and the United States.
These are things I literally never would have known about. I’m tired of women being painted as just being pretty.
I’M SO HAPPY TO SEE HER AT AN OLDER AGE I SWEAR!
Here’s another nice one.
For the longest time I assumed she had died really young because I never saw any pictures of her at an older age. She was an amazing woman.
A lemon, a potato, and a pea all had a tough week working at the grocery store…
…so they decided to let off some steam with a bar crawl at the weekend.
They had a great time, hitting bar after bar, knocking back drinks, but being so genetically different, the alcohol affected them each in different ways: the lemon got very acidic and refluxy; the potato, being a big starchy chap, took the booze in his stride; while the little pea reacted to all the sugar and started to get a touch hyperactive.
At the end of the night, the three friends found themselves leaving a bar at the top of a tall hill, when all of a sudden the pea started bouncing up and down excitedly: “Lads! Lads! I’ve got a great idea! We’re all vaguely round in shape, let’s not get a cab home, let’s just roll down the hill!” and before the others could protest he was off - shooting down the hill at a rate of knots.
The lemon lurched after him, but soon started listing violently from side to side as he went, owing to his oval shape, which did nothing for his unsettled stomach. With a sigh, the potato trundled along slowly behind.
By the time the potato had bounced his way to the bottom of the hill, the lemon was spewing lemon juice all over the pavement, but the pea was already jumping up and down again “that was great, that was great, let’s do it again!”.
The lemon was now chundering up pips with the acid, but the pea didn’t seem to care “Come on! let’s go again, that was great!”.
The potato turned to him and said “Easy peasy, lemon’s queasy.”
why do jellyfish only sting when theres physical contact
why doesnt the electricity just surge throughout the entire ocean
why dont jellyfish rule the world
Fun fact! Jellyfish don’t use electricity to sting you. Whenever they feel pressure against their tentacles, it causes its cells to rapidly send out these stingers into your skin that then release its venom. Like this:
#science tumblr to save the day from inaccuracies
#THAT’S WORSE
They are called nematocysts. They are what make box jellies and other fun lil critters so dangerous, because without these wee little daggers, the venom would have no way to get into your skin. And yet something as thin as nylon stockings or pantyhose is enough to protect you, they are so small. So if you’re scared of jellyfish? Wear sexy sheer undergarments into the sea like the regal creature you are.
I’m going to reblog this again because that is some of the best advice I have ever gotten on this blog.
well i’ll be damned
SHE DID THAT !
IF YOURE NOT GOING THIS HARD FOR BLACK WOMEN YOU ARE NOT AN ALLY
Every time…every TIME this is on my dash, I read it all the way thru before reblogging. And you should too. THIS is how you ally. Respect yourself by raising the women around you who deserve that same level of respect.
Respect yourself. Respect your sisters. Never settle for the fuckboys who look to drag us ALL down. ✊🏻✊🏼✊🏽✊🏾✊🏿
What does foreplay have to do with a girl being wet? Why is that a man's responsibility? It's their vagina.. We can't control that...
please don’t have sex
Oh…oh no. OH NO… 😱🤦🏼♀️
I should just say it’s literally impossible for a child to be a “moocher.” YOUR child is a CHILD therefore your responsibility. If you see children this way, do not have them

there’s a book by Edward Baptist that provides a great deal of documentation and details surrounding the history of the US economy and slavery and the strategic steps to keep slavery active, lucrative and less visible after and since the civil war
it’s titled: The Half Has Never Been Told
it’s excellent reading : https://books.google.com/books?id=dSrXCwAAQBAJ&lpg=PP1&pg=PP1#v=onepage&q&f=false
a muggleborn student coming to hogwarts with a thermos flask and filling it with tea in the morning so it stays hot all day and their pureblood friends are like “whoa what spell did you use for that” and they’re like “?????? it’s just a thermos???” and all the pureblood students start pointing their wands at cups and saying “THERMOS”
THERMOS
plot twist: it works, mugs suddenly start keeping tea at the perfect temperature for the caster all day. students in muggle studies start experimenting with other muggle jargon and a new generation of magic spells are born, propelling the stagnated wizard community into the technological age
*points wand at book* KINDLE!!!! *book propels itself into fireplace and bursts into flames* I FUCKED UP I FUCKED UP
