Wings for Marie + pouring rain
if you are in a happy relationship and you’re both healthy enough for treats and activities please spoil your partner(s) for me. take them dancing if dancing into that, buy them flowers, make them something tasty, take them on an adventure, or give them a massage. delight them. treasure the privilege that is being able to make them comfortable and happy.
I mean it—go for a walk together or visit a museum or a weird store or sit on a dock or in a field. or just watch a movie. do some art. I don’t mean to be maudlin but when your lover is so sick that even sitting together on the porch or cuddling in bed is a bittersweet fantasy it helps to think that other people are grateful for and aware of the precious gifts they have just to be able to dote on each other. every shitass boyfriend story makes me furious. life is fragile and precious and if you get to share it with someone you truly love you are unspeakably lucky.
and also you should tell me about it if you want. it makes me happy to hear about.
Without fail, every time a woman is talking about how she does not want to have children and never wants to be pregnant and how medical professionals, romantic interests and family members keep trying to bulldoze her decision and keep expecting her to change her mind because motherhood is something that is expected of all women and it is abhorrent to think a woman could not desire it, a random mother spawns in the comments to be like “Well, actually, you never know! I didn’t want children and then I got pregnant and I realized I love being a mama and I have five little babies now! Could happen to you! 🥰”
Sister, keep that to yourself or make your own goddamn post, you are ignoring that woman’s central concern and belittling her, you don’t even think you’re doing it. Formerly childfree women who ended up having children and loving it are like detransitioners in the sense that there is nothing inherently wrong with changing your mind about having children or realizing you were mistaken about your gender identity but immediately weaponizing your indecision to tell people that the barriers to healthcare and the violations of their bodily autonomy and the way society ignores that person’s wishes is actually okay because you were wrong. Some people do know themselves.
I wish these people were oppressed

It's so wild to me watching a completely non-religious youtuber and then they suddenly find a way to incorporate bible verses into their fucking. Financial or relationship advice and then they proselytize at the end of the video and it's just like. K. Goodbye forever. I came here for commentary on the debt crisis, not tangents about Jesus.
Like imagine if it was normal for literally any other religion to do this lmao. Imagine if it was normal for Jewish youtubers to suddenly include Talmud commentary in their non-religious fandom video essays or to drive down the road and see Buddhist billboards preaching the importance of achieving nirvana. Christianity is so deeply entrenched in American society that constant proselytizing is just a completely normal thing that no one even thinks twice about beyond being mildly annoyed and it SUCKS.
Frankly if I never heard a Christian recite a bible verse again, I would die happy.
So many people never learned to live with harmless discomfort at any point in their lives and holy fuck does it show
“But I wanna know!” You’re gonna have to learn to be ok with not knowing some things, especially when those things involve personal details about strangers that they’re not comfortable sharing.
“But it’s confusing!” If you take the time to educate yourself it’ll no longer be confusing. Otherwise you’re just gonna have to learn to be ok with being confused.
“But it’s weird!” You probably do weird things all the time. Everyone does weird things sometimes. Life goes on.
“But it scares me!” Is it hurting you? No? You’ll be fine. Being scared and being harmed are not always the same thing. Learn to tell the difference and then act accordingly.
“But I want it!” And I want a million dollars. You can’t always get what you want.
Addendum:
"But it makes me uncomfortable!" The world is an uncomfortable place and complete strangers are not required to fix that for you. Learning to endure harmless discomfort is a life skill for existing in public.
"But I don't like it!" There's plenty of things in the world and not all of them are fun or enjoyable or For You. This applies to everyone and we all have to deal with that in a mature fashion.
"But I want to do the thing!" You can't always do what you want. Most people learn this in preschool. Wanting something does not entitle you to be inconsiderate to the people around you.
the situation with harry potter is kind of unprecedented in some ways imo because it is maybe the largest media franchise in history to be created & owned by a single person who still has direct creative control over it. who is also a billionaire with significant cultural/political influence. like the usual "no ethical consumption under capitalism" type excuses shatter on impact when the bigoted author in question is logging onto twitter every day saying explicitly that when you buy the tim hortons ravenclaw donut she is using your donut money to fund the genocide of trans people. like with big franchises usually there's at least a little more diffusion of responsibility than this
Is there a word for occupying the space where normies think you're a freak and freaks think you're a normie?
I tell a woman with a 9 to 5 office job about the slightly niche speculative fiction novel I just finished and she goes "Oh, that's...interesting. I hadn't heard of that."
I tell a grungy chick I met at a dive bar about the same book and she kinda scoffs and goes "Okay" like I said my favorite show is Sesame Street
Whats the name of your cat?
The one in my pfp is Calvin
you have been visited by the seven magic dragon balls your biggest wish will be granted but only if you reblog
Couldn’t risk it.
didn’t realize they change colors. now I know o gotta wish.
THIS SHIT IS REAL I GOT THE JOB I WAS NUTS ABOUT BC I REBLOGGED THIS YESTERDAY maybe it’s a coinkidink but it okay just take the necessary steps to achieve what you’re wishing for and YOU CAN DO IT
it has occurred to me, as I age, that most people did not spend their childhoods getting simplified breakdowns of class-action lawsuits explained to them over dinner at least once a week
I ABSOLUTELY encourage people to keep reblogging and commenting on this with their own niche secondhand expertises from their parents’ careers
