I have a feeling that Amity didn’t like Luz at the beginning because Luz was a threat to what Amity worked so hard to get. And, as everyone who’s had a gay crush knows, DENIAL DENIAL DENIAL. I feel like Amity lashed out at Luz because she liked her at that time too, and just was freaked out by those feelings, as well as Luz being a threatening figure to her school life. To put it in a better way, Amity is little miss perfect (straight hair straight A’s straight forward type beat) and Luz didn’t work to get into that school, she snuck in, tanked Amity since she worked SO hard to get to be top student, and Amity struggles with “cute girl” and also “I don’t have a word for my feelings and this girl poses a threat to my perfect scores” and with knowing Amity’s parents, the blights aren’t exactly “anything above a C is fine” parents.
Before Dana’s AMA I actually assumed a sort of sadder thing where amity dyed her hair green to be more like her siblings so her parents would be proud of her like they’re proud of Ed and Em. Green hair is easily copied so I was thinking that Amity wanted her parents to be proud of her too so in her mind green hair would equal more pride and maybe even more success within school.
Honestly, I just can’t wait for the second season! See y’all then, hoot hoot!
