I DONT WANT TO LEAVE THE SOUTH!!!! THIS IS MY HOME!!!
I want things to get better here instead of having to leave it behind to be safe!! I literally live in North Carolina i KNOW about the bathroom bills, i KNOW i PROMISE YOU.
Queer people who look down on the south and refuse to acknowledge that there are queer people here infuriate me. The south is not just Bigotry World tm! There are poc here!! There are trans people here! There are queer people and disabled people and tons of other people who deserve your love and support!
Don’t forget about us please.
Good people live there because they know they’re not the only ones and if they leave, who will be there for the ones who think they are alone?

We need to dismantle the systems in place that allow white people to get away with offering black people sub-par services based on the excuse that our bodies are more difficult to work with. Black hair is not more difficult than white hair, it simply requires a different skill set. Tattooing vibrant tattoos on black skin isn’t more difficult than tattooing white skin, it simply requires a different skill set. Photographing black people isn’t more difficult than photographing white people, it simply requires an understanding of photography. Doing makeup on black skin isn’t more difficult than doing makeup on white skin, it simply requires different products. Working with black people is not more difficult than working with white people you’ve all just been taught that it’s not valuable and therefore not worth learning how.
This is extremely similar to the dilemma faced by disabled people. It is no more expensive to design a building with ramps instead of stairs, it’s only when you create the building first and have to tear down the stairs and replace them that you incur costs. If we teach the skills of inclusion from the beginning, there should be no additional costs for services and accessiblity for anybody.
Initially I wasn’t sure I wanted to diverge from the axis of race over to disability, but I actually think that the analogy of that building and how it’s only after we’ve institutionalized inequality that costs are incurred trying to fix it, is a valuable one so thanks for the contribution.
Day 13 of Auctober!
There's still a belief that autistic people don't have imaginations even though for me my imagination is where I spent the majority of my time while growing up! There are some amazingly creative and imaginative autistic people, and we need to get rid of the idea that if someone is autistic that means they have zero imagination.
tumblr just deleted a huge swathe of palestinians who were on here trying to fundraise. if you've been helping any of these fundraisers please take this time to 1) check in with palestinians you're in contact with 2) help them submit support requests if needed 3) keep these campaigns circulating while the beneficiaries are being silenced. these campaigns are life or death, this isn't just social networking. do not let these fundraisers languish.

This is a reminder that your parents/guardians are supposed to feed you, give you shelter and clothes. These should not be seen as favors nor should they be pushing these things to be seen as favors they do for you. This is literally the bare minimum of what they signed up for and you deserve so much more than the bare minimum without being made to feel guilty about any of it.

(I don't normally add patreon links to posts, but I will this time since I'm about to miss a few weeks of work. Thank you to my patrons for making that a less bad thing financially than it would be otherwise!)
Shout out to all the Black ppl that can no longer participate directly in the fandom they love because of the stresses of racism 👍🏾 you contain multitudes of value and I'm sorry that the color of your skin and the power of your voice makes people not want to acknowledge that.
Yes, nonblack people can reblog. I'd appreciate it, in fact, if y'all took the time to vocally support your Black friends/fans in fandom.

sorry to keep talking about such depressing shit but there's something so grim about leelah alcorns parents saying they loved her while misgendering her to the extent that reports had to be like "we loved [her] unconditionally. We loved [her] no matter what. I loved my [daughter]. People need to know that I loved [her]. [She] was a good kid, a good [girl]."
like you drove to her kill herself with just how much you did not love her and just how conditional it was.
but then again there's always something to be said about parents meaning "i loved my son i had power over, not the woman she actually was" in situations like that
something something no hate quite like Christian love
it just really hurts seeing the people who treated her like that talk about her in a way where you need to claw back the fact that she's a girl and sew it back into the text. it makes me feel really sad for everyone who's families treat them like that and especially for everyone who's gone and their parents speak on their behalf in a way that betrays everything they were.
I don't want the people i care about to have to cut and paste pronouns and names every time they hear about their dead friends :(
