A complaint about a hospital being told to create a “detransition clinic” because “reality matters; detransitioning is extremely rare”. The clinic would include medical treatments including surgery, psychotherapy, fertility counselling and speech therapy to patients who received gender transition care before the age of 21. Other comments include: “horrific” “vile” “like body mutilation but alright!” (clarifies transitioning isn’t) “torture clinic” “this will kill children” “basically a few laws away from forced detransitioning internment camps”

Do they not think detransitioners need support? That they won’t need it? There is nothing in place for them at the moment

the actual pride month rundown

- marsha p. johnson repeatedly identified as a gay man and drag queen and survived into an era where the language did already exist if he chose to identify as transsexual. he explicitly stated that he was not transsexual and claimed that all transsexual people were also homosexual.

- sylvia rivera did identify as a transsexual woman (and made disparaging speeches about lesbians). she was not an ally to lesbians. lesbians and transwomen have not always been allies.

- neither of them were there when the stonewall riots began, according to marsha’s own testimony. sylvia was sleeping off a drug trip on a park bench, and by the time marsha arrived at stonewall, the riots were already in full swing.

- storme delarverie, a mixed black gender-nonconforming lesbian and drag king, may have been the one who incited the stonewall riots. she never identified as a transman despite surviving into an an era where the language was made accessible to do so. accounts differ as to who started the riots.

- stonewall was not a special haven for trans people and drag artists, it was just some bar where gay people met up. by all accounts, it wasn’t even a good bar.

- pride as a festival and parade was invented by gay men, lesbians, and bisexual people. fred sergeant is one of those gay men, and he has been beaten (in recent years, as an elderly man) by trans people and their allies due to his views on medical transition. non-homosexual trans people were unheard of in this era.

- this is just united states history, and not even the beginning of gay rights activism in the united states alone. the rest of the world didn’t necessarily base its gay rights activism on stonewall.

We have a lot of voices on the gender critical side who have done extraordinarily well with bringing attention to how young people with autism and same sex attraction are disproportionately at risk of falling victim to trans medicalization. We rarely hear about how foster kids are disproportionately more likely to identify as trans.

According to the Cass Report, foster kids made up 25 % of gender clinic referrals yet foster kids only make up 0.67% of the general population.

This means foster kids are 37 times more likely to identify as trans than other children.

Foster kids often experience severe trauma, including neglect, abuse, and instability. Trauma can lead to dissociation, identity confusion, and a desire to escape one’s past, which might make some more vulnerable to seeing gender transition as a way to start over.

Foster children run a huge risk of specifically being sexually abused. Either before or after removal from their home. And we know SA alienates people from their bodies.

since pride month's coming up just a friendly reminder that the stonewall riots were sparked by biracial butch lesbian/drag king Stormé DeLarverie's resistance to an NYPD raid at the Stonewall Inn.

it was NOT Marsha P. Johnson who "threw the first brick." Marsha arrived to the riots hours after they had already started. he also was not a transwoman, and has described himself as a gay man/drag queen in multiple interviews. (massive credit to twitter user Zombie_Jesus_v3 for finding all these clips. if you have twitter I'd recommend giving that entire thread a read. it puts to bed all the Marsha P. Johnson myths people are still constantly perpetuating for some reason) anyways some respect on Stormé's name. thanks.

Reminder that trans men, ESPECIALLY trans men of color, are not your "gotcha" for the trans people in bathrooms debate. A majority of us cannot safely use the men's room without running the risk of assault, mainly those of us who do not pass as cishetero men. If we are in any way "too masculine", we can't safely use the women's room, either. Stop forgetting we exist until it's convenient for you.

and the reason for this is men. Men are the ones who harass you in the bathrooms because you're female. Men are the ones who have made women so on guard that they question anyone masculine in their bathrooms because males keep invading them. And I'm saying this as someone who used to be a trans man and someone who still gets glares whenever I walk into the women's bathroom, it sucks but the fault lies with entitled males, if they hadn't invaded our spaces then women wouldn't HAVE to be cautious.

Cool, so if this is the case, why have women historically been prevented from competing in multiple sports, especially professionally?

If it's just about fun, what's the uproar about when you're no longer allowed to compete in female divisions? Why is that suddenly this super political thing? Why is that suddenly an attack on your rights and humanity?

If it's just about fun, why can't you have fun with people who are the same sex as you? What's that all about, hm?

Anybody who's genuinely supportive of this viewpoint, yet simultaneously sees trans women being barred from women's sports as a moral crisis HAS to explain this gap in logic to me.

Homophobic conservatives are at least honest about their homophobia. Homophobic liberals say stuff like "yay gay rights hashtag love is love" and then in the same breath go condescendingly "did you know it is oppression to not fuck the opposite sex? :)"

Homophobic conservatives tend to at least stay in their own spaces. Homophobic liberals insert themselves into others' hard-won movements and organisations, appropriate themselves a homophobic slur, and then use the voice of these authorities to go condescendingly "did you know penis in the vagina sex is gay? :)"

Getting my conservative religious father to become less homophobic has been relatively easy. Straight up basic exposure to real gay people instead of stereotypes does a lot.

What’s worrying about leftist homophobes is that they already have all that exposure and proper education and they still don’t care.
