What They Didn't Teach Us In School
1. Sometimes people at workplaces will dislike you for no good reason and they won’t hide it from you. Even following workplace harassment guidelines may not stop the problem. Don’t worry, it’s the person doing the harassment or bullying who has the problem.
2. It’s alright in some people’s minds to discriminate against you if you’re different, because to them you might be a ‘freak’ or ‘weird’. These people can’t always be stopped, but remember that you are strong, and you have made it so far already, just think what more time will do for you.
3. Most people live every day of their life with a self-serving mindset where everything they do is about give and take and personal gains. These people are users but are really unaware of this, it’s just how they are and no amount of calling them out will make them care, because they have become self-catering.
4. Sometimes people think you’re not worth being friends with if you become too common or too available for people. It’s their loss not yours.
5. Some of the time, love is a word used to exercise emotional/psychological manipulation to lead to an exchange of actions and reactions which are desired, such as: attention, conversation, intimacy and sex.
6. Money and all forms of currency, is blood. Without it you’ll wither. It’s a hard truth.
7. Doing the right thing hurts sometimes and sometimes no one’s going to turn and pat you on the back when you stand up and defend yourself or take action to improve things.
8. Whoever tells the story first, is most often able to gain a higher standing when it comes to those who believe them.
9. There will always be someone talking about you, just expect it and deal with it on your own terms.
10. Sometimes people talk shit and you don’t have to really listen to them. Sometimes these sorts of people wouldn’t give you the time to talk anyway. Let them speak, nod and leave.
11. Sometimes friends and companions become manipulating and poisonous. Get the hell outta their messes after you give them two or three tries to sort themselves out. Don’t waste chances on them, give those chances to someone new.
12. Start over. Delete or deactivate Facebook if you want to. Find new friends. Travel someplace different. Turn yourself inside out and start anew.
13. If you want to love someone, then love them fairly and freely. Don’t latch on to them like a parasite though, especially if things end, that’s cruel to yourself and to them. If you want to love more than one person at a time, make sure everyone knows about everyone else, be honest, and be safe when it comes to health.
14. If you want to be inked and wear art or meanings for the rest of your life, go ahead. If you want piercings, then go on and do it. Don’t hold yourself back when you’re 21 or 40 or 60 because you’re afraid of what other people will think. Do it for you, and you alone.
15. If you don’t see any or some of your family members for whatever reason, that’s okay. There is no normal family. Remember that. Those you love and value, make time for, but don’t be afraid to savour distance from certain members of your family if you find the relationship toxic or dangerous or abusive.
