I realize that reimagining Alice Cullen as a Black woman would likely require changes to her backstory, given that she was born in Mississippi in 1901, but I enjoyed exploring a different take on the character. If anything, it reminded me that the Cullens have always been a family defined by choice and love—not by the color of their skin.
Sydney Sweeney laughed off Madame Web's poor reception on SNL, joking that audiences "definitely" didn't see it. Well, I did—and I'm glad I did. Her portrayal of Julia Cornwall was so full of empathy and vulnerability that it inspired me to create this piece.
My personal take on Bella Swan. She's been one of my favorite characters for years, and I wanted this design to reflect the quiet courage, resolve, and capacity for love that have always stood out to me. I'm hoping to revisit this design as I explore the different stages of her journey throughout the series.
