The Seven Deadly Sins
That thing where milkmaids were often immunized against small pox because they'd already contracted the weaker cow pox earlier in their lives. That's Tumblr, to me, against whatever the hell social media landscape is happening in 2026.
"TikTok Instagram Youtube-Shorts Share-Your-Whole-Life Influencer Social-Media Online Online Online" it cannot affect me. I was already a weird online 16-year-old all so many years ago. You cannot grab me raw and unfortified with these poisons. I inoculated myself when glomping was a thing. I am still on Tumblr making text poasts.
not to give green day credit but it is immensely funny how often Big Corporation For Guys Men Guys Guy Corporation will be like hi green day play my event. and green day is like ok Big Corporation For Guys Men Guys Guy Corporation but you know we suck dick and penis and want to kill politicians and we are going to play our song we suck dick and penis and want to kill politicians .and Big Corporation For Guys Men Guys Guy Corporation is like ok green day thats cool. and then green day plays their song we suck dick and penis and want to kill politicians. and Big Corporation For Guys Men Guys Guy Corporation is like wtf green day you cant do that you cant play your song we suck dick and penis and want to kill politicians. and this has been happening in a cycle for 30 years.
the boy who gathered stars
Hey everyone needs to look at this, it's gorgeous
we don't credit rebecca sugar enough for making the episode with the first gay wedding in a kids show extremely plot relevant so it could not be skipped or cut.
#rebecca sugar has gone on record saying that they knew from the beginning they wanted ruby and sapphire and they put every inch of planning#in to make sure that the studio could not take them out. sugar has said they’d compromised on hundreds of things they’d wanted for steven#so that they had the bargaining power specifically to keep ruby and sapphire’s relationship#and a number of ‘filler’ episodes were created just to establish counter-arguments that might come up when they pitched the wedding episode#the one that comes to mind is the episode about steven and connie getting lost in rose’s room steven’s central conflict about liking their#fave book series’ romantic ending was later weaponised when producer’s were like ‘oh but steven’s a boy he won’t be too interested in them#getting married’ sugar was able to be like ‘no. in this episode it’s established he loves romance and specifically weddings. and in these#episodes it’s shown how much steven cares about ruby and sapphire and their relationship and happiness. you cannot convince me this is not#good and necessary plot development#and they wrapped it up in the season finale and the big climactic point of the diamonds finally coming to attack earth to make the#episode integral to the series no skipping it without confusion. and had ruby wear a wedding dress because international censors took#advantage of her design to give her a masculine va#and sugar made certain that everybody knew This was a queer love story that an entire town supported and admired and that any child watchin#it at home would know they are not alone and that that support is waiting for them out there somewhere#sugar sacrificed the wider story they wanted to tell for that and it was a horrible decision to be given but they made the right choice
Every queer cartoon creator these days that isn't pushing the fucking envelope like this are god damned cowards.
no. it is not on every queer creative ever to push our rights forward. just being queer, creative, and alive, is enough.
#steven universe has been credited by many artists as being the reason they could convince executives to let them have their own rep#in their own stories#rebecca sugar did it for Them as much as us#so that maybe the future creators WOULDNT have to fight as hard#forever bitter at the people who tried to belittle those accomplishments over petty shit for no reason
A predator that lurks above the ever-moving lichen mats of its forest home.
Pheromones are used to attract curious prey, which gather confused beneath the creature. Those not swift of foot are impaled, to be relieved of their liquefied insides.

everyone is like. its been a horrible year!!! WHY has this year felt so bad and gruelling??
it's the genocide and ethnic cleansing, the fever pitch hatred of migrants, women, and lgbt people allowing for the prospective abandonment of international human rights law. it's the various modes by which late capitalism and the fascist state is brutalising you and everyone around you. it's trauma. you can do a lot to decide the terms on your own life, but we are all connected to each other and there's a lot to feel and bear witness to and to resist, and that IS a gruelling responsibility.
whatever this year has looked like for you personally, it has been immeasurably traumatic for the global working class. and we should all feel connected to that.
anyway. like rosa said, the most revolutionary thing one can do is always to proclaim loudly what is happening.
Concept: Depressing dystopian factory where everything is gray and samey and the workers are called by their employee numbers by an ominous deep voice.
But it's a really great place to work with high salaries, excellent benefits, and a flexible working schedule with plenty of paid leave. They just like the dystopian aesthetic.
PA system: Worker 72094. Leave your working station and report to the Supervisor immediately.
Supervisor: Worker 72094. You failed to meet your quota for 3 weeks in a row now.
Worker 72094: I can explain!
Supervisor: You're clearly burned out. I heard you moved recently. Take a mandatory two weeks paid vacation to readjust and report to me then.
Worker 72094: I... thank you?
Shadowy Board Member: Worker 11335. Do you know why you were summoned?
Worker 11335: Is it because I badmouthed the company during lunch?
Shadowy Board Member: That is correct. We are very displeased, Worker 11335...
Shadowy Board Member: ...with ourselves, that is. We hold ourselves to high standards of excellence which we clearly failed to meet. We were hoping you could advise us on necessary improvements. You will receive appropriate compensation, of course.
Job Interviewer: *wearing a featureless mask and speaking through a voice changer* Welcome to Hopeless Inc., Worker 100100.
Worker 100100: What's with the mask?
Job Interviewer: I'm shy 🤭
Of course. All Hopeless Inc. employees are due-paying members of Mindless Drones United.
It's a very responsive union that cares about its members on an individual level. They just love the dystopian hivemind aesthetic.
Graduate assistant Mel Curth found Samantha Fulnecky's paper unscientific and offensive in referring to trans people as "demonic."
They fired her.
The university also placed another teacher on leave for allowing her students to leave class to attend a protest in support the instructor.
Completely unrelated, but current students of OU are transferring out and alumni are wanting refunds for their tuition, since OU has made it abundantly clear that their degrees aren't worth the paper they're printed on.
If you call the university's main number and express polite confusion over the situation, they will transfer you to someone to talk to about it. So if you feel like playing Concerned Parent: 1-405-325-0311
For the love of god if your native language is different from the majority language of the country you’re living in don’t raise your baby speaking the local language. Either have each parent speak to them in a different language or only speak your native language at home. The kid will be okay. Get your native language in their head. You may think you’re helping them in the long term giving them the local language but no. When they’re an adult they’ll wonder why you never taught them your language. They can and will learn the local language in school. They’ll be okay. Produce more bilingual children. They are good for society.
And also, being bilingual helps with executive function. Not all kids have to reach the same language development at the same time as everyone else, it’s okay to have your kid speaking in more complex sentences a month or so later than the “normal” kids.
I've studied the science linguistically but I'd like to put that aside. PLEASE teach your kid the native language. It can go so much deeper than "wondering why", it can create a schism-like pain when you know there's a heritage you have but all access has been cut off. Yes, ALL. If you're fortunate enough to visit the country of your native language but dont teach your kid, they will be miserable, quiet, and alone, and go through difficult phases of hating that heritage because the ladders were cut for them.
And in the United States, this starts young. I've seen teachers tell a Kazakhstani parent that she should tell her kid to speak English INSTEAD. The kid was 2 and a half. A friend's five year old told him "Dad this is America we dont speak Chinese". If you don't teach your kid your native language this country will wrest all pride and heritage from them by force. An occasional visit or two to the home country will not stop the bleeding.
The pain of not speaking the language of my heritage is something I don't wish on anyone. And that language is one of the most spoken in the world, imagine if your native language is rarer. What happens? What happens?
When you read this post in a different context than the US, everything is very confusing until you realize it's written from a US perspective where being bilingual is something almost exclusive of the children of immigrants.
There are millions and millions of us for whom our native language is very much not the majority language of our country, but at the same time is our local language (and the majority language acts as our second language).
There are endangered languages on every continent of the world because people teach their children the majority language instead of their native language so I very much doubt that this problem doesn’t exist where you are.
ok northies this is it. these last five days to the solstice are a motherfucker. everything feels dark and hopeless because the sun's fucked off. but you MUST. i cannot stress enough you MUST hang on until the 21st. the light will come back
PSA: if you're watching the new Knives Out mystery (Wake Up Dead Man), please be aware that around 1 hr 34 minutes in, there's a series of flashing/strobing lights. the sequence lasts about a minute.
^ comment I got on tiktok bc I posted this same thing there. this is why I'm giving the warning because netflix and the theaters didn't 😔
[ID: comment reading "I have epilepsy went to see it yesterday and covered my eyes too late and had a seizure and all I could think was why are we STILL not putting strobe warnings on movies..." /end ID]
To be specific [spoiler warning for Wake Up Dead Man] there is a scene in the rain, the priest will slip on mud, run into the woods, and a fist will knock him out. Close your eyes immediately when you see the fist. Don't open again until you start hearing conversations.
Sharing for the plot specifics which makes it a bit easier for people who are watching compared to tracking the timings
This is weird bevause ive had this exact thought before
Actually it really does help to paint the picture
"why don't you set an alarm to remind yourself to put your marbles in your bag?" i will fill your shoes with goo
i need pepple to understand that in the first place leather has always been made from the byproducts of butchering animals for meat, otherwise the skin is just tossed and unused. there were some companies farming for leather for a while, particuarly alligator leather, but those were not the norm. peta did so much harm in their campaigns against leather as a concept (its not unethical. yoi get the skin when an animal dies. thats why most leather clothes in the usa are cow leather, bc thats the biggest meat animal here) that its almost impossible to buy anything "leather" that isnt made of plastic that it so fragile and shitty that the very Thread Holding It Together rips the fibers apart. it will last for maybe a year two if youre lucky, and wont biodegrade and was made out of something that isnt naturally occurring in the first place and is one of the biggest causes of pollution globally
i do not care if you personally think nobody should slaughter or eat animals, it is Going to happen anyway. you cannot be so obtuse thst you think making more plastic that causes pollution endless damage to the animals you claim to care about so much is better than omnivorous human beings eating other animals and using their bodies completely.

sometimes i get home from an event with my family and i just have to sit in my car for a second & read that one sarah schulman quote on familial homophobia
taps the sign.
weird how quick fascists went from “the world is overpopulated. close your legs. stop having kids.” to “pop out 3 babies right now. you have no choice. you have to. it’s your duty and your only purpose.” when they realized they might not have enough vulnerable individuals to exploit in the labor force if the birth rate continues declining
spoiler alert: these two ideals still exist and pervade fascist spaces. and they coexist. what they mean by “the world is overpopulated” they mean there’s too many brown people. what they mean by “pop out more kids” is that they want more white people.
it’s important to view things outside of a white lense.
