I love walking to my house makes me feel like a hobbit on an adventure
sorry for more f1 posting on main but the new lando merch is insane. he's literally so brave for this
This is the notification that brought me back btw
closing statement from an article about being intersex & the possible connection of gender expression and sexuality in intersex individuals, published in The Gay Liberator, 1970s
Keep your messaging simple:
“Trump fired everyone in charge of airplane safety, and a week later planes started crashing into each other.”
That’s it. That’s the messaging. Don’t get bogged down disputing Trump’s false claims. Just blame him, in short and repeatable sentences.
Trump removed bird safety regulations in his first term and now bird flu is killing so many laying hens that eggs are $5 a carton
Trump removed food safety standards his first term and now we have recalls every few weeks
Trump cut the subsidies for the solar farms under construction so now electricity costs more
Trump disbanded the pandemic response team and we now we have bird flu and tuberculosis outbreaks
mutuals can always dm me but be warned i talk like your coworker who is trying too hard to get to know you and my response times are akin to the response times you might get if we were communicating by letter
I haven't purchased a HP item in close to a decade - I use the books I already had as doorstops or to prop a laptop up for meetings nowadays.
There is NO "death of the author" with JK Rowling - she controls and continues to profit from her IP, and uses that money to fund hate groups.
When one person can give £70,000 to a hate group's legal funds, maybe it's time to bin the Dobby plushies.
Here's your periodic reminder of why it's so important not to buy any Harry Potter merch or watch anything JKR profits from.
It isn't about cancelling problematic media, idgaf. We're capable of reading books we already own with a critical eye.
It's about not giving more power to someone who is using it to materially harm our community.
I think that 2023 is a good time for many of us, and allies in particular, to practice again the dying art of minding our own fucking business when it comes to the identities and lives of other people.
You see someone from one of your classes in a public place with a different gender presentation/expression than they typically have? Mind your own business.
You discover that one of your coworkers is in a same gender relationship, but they aren't out at work? Not your place to share that information in the workplace.
You notice that your neighbor in a red state takes a road trip across state lines with their transgender child every 3-6 months? No you fucking didn't.
You overhear students in your classroom using a different name and different pronouns for one student than you are used to using? If you live in a state hostile to trans rights, pretend that you don't know anything about this and report nothing.
You suspect that an acquaintance of yours might be gay, but they deny it when asked directly? Leave them the fuck alone.
One of your friends refuses to publicly label their sexuality? Good for them, you aren't entitled to that information anyway.
Your sibling comes out to you as questioning, but isn't comfortable sharing that with your parents yet? Keep your fucking mouth shut.
Don't out people; coming out is a personal choice not a moral obligation. Don't demand personal information about other people's sexuality or sex lives. You aren't entitled to information about anyone's gender identity, assigned gender at birth, or transition.
Bring back privacy, allow people to have control over the information that is shared about them publicly; it might save their job, their housing, their parental rights and their child's safety, or even save lives.
Let's keep this same energy in 2025, but more.
If someone shows up at your front door asking questions about your neighbors or coworkers or family or random acquaintances, you know nothing.
Protect your neighbors who are immigrants and/or undocumented. Protect your coworker who took PTO last month to travel out of state for an abortion. Protect your transgender friend who is DIYing their HRT. Protect your sister who ordered Plan C pills online and broke state law to self-manage her abortion at home. If you knew someone before they transitioned and you know their deadname and assigned at birth sex, no you fucking don't.
The best way to protect the people in your community is to keep your mouth shut if someone starts asking questions. Don't gossip at work, don't post it online, don't talk to the cops or to ICE.
And look out for yourself too.
btw “actual feminism” is trans inclusive and op of this tweet agrees :)
becoming the oppressor is not liberation!!!!!
Project 2025 ain't gonna roll out all at once. So what we're gonna wanna do is make passing each individual part of it as difficult as possible, so there's less to undo once we finally get this country back on the rails.
Resist every step and do not get distracted by stupid bullshit. Distracting people with stupid bullshit is one of Trump's favorite political techniques. We saw it all over the place in the first term.
Trump will say something like "You know the Hispanics actually punch kittens, it's what they do."
And the news will be like "TRUMP SAID HISPANIC PEOPLE PUNCH KITTENS" for three weeks.
And while they're doing that the Republicans in Congress have quietly deleted healthcare.
Do not get distracted by stupid bullshit. Trump is a dancing monkey whose greatest asset is the ability to yank the spotlight off of everyone else. Keep your eyes on Congress.
That’s the Spirit!!
where's the mitski quote. where's the goddamn mitski quote.
> “mannish features”
> look inside
> literally just common physical traits among women of colour
you can’t separate transmisogyny from racism. the radical feminism movement is so overwhelmingly white because their idea of what a woman is is so thoroughly steeped in white supremacy.
Fact #1047: The advice to not bind your chest for more than 8 hours at the time is not some transphobic conspiracy to foce you to experience dysphoria. It is advice given to you for your own safety. As mentally uncomfortable it might be to be without a binder, physically you need to give your ribcage a break.
Ideally have an at least 30 minute break every 4 hours tbh. I used to bind all day and it fucked up my ribs and my nerves in the area.
Oh yeah, even at my peak binding I could never go for more than 6 hours without feeling pain. Short breaks are a life saver.
I have seen so many (universally young) trans guys say that they have to bind longer because the dysphoria is that bad, or (worse) one guy I talked to said he does not get pap smears because the dysphoria is too hard to deal with.
y'all, I get very dysphoric in certain situations too, but there is a reason people tell you to care for your medical needs and it isn't because we're meanie-butts. it's because the older you get, the more precious your health will become, as your body inevitably starts to degrade from age. the more major health complications you avoid by treating yourself right, the less shitty that process will feel and the longer you will be able to stay active and do the things you enjoy. I don't want trans people to feel dysphoric but even more than that I want to see trans people live long and happy lives. don't do something dangerous to reduce your suffering now, because you will pay it back with interest later.
It can also mess with the outcome of your top surgery down the road and make breathing difficult even when you don't bind. Gotta look after yourselves
I say this with love and on the verge of a nervous breakdown from watching beginner cooks who don't know better yet: ALWAYS turn your pot and pan handles in so they aren't hanging over the edge of the stove
even if you don't have children or pets who might hit or grab the handles, it just takes one moment of it catching on your shirt or your hip bumping it in passing to send a bunch of hot food and oil right at you
Here's a nice story I learned in the Norwegian ski museum:
In 1895, polar explorers Fridtjof Nansen and Hjalmar Johansen were having a bad time. Their expedition had faced some hardships and they were forced to stay on Franz Josef Land in a little hut they built out of mud and stones. In their hut, they slept for circa 20 hours a day, and spent the remaining four hours watching the northern lights or reminiscing about the comforts of home and the books they had read.
After several months of this, and nine months of sleeping in the same sleeping bag to stay warm, on New Year's Eve, Nansen finally gathered his courage and asked Johansen if they should start adressing each other with the informal you.
This is where the story ended in the museum, so unfortunately, I can't tell you whether Johansen answered yes or no.
Enjoy these pics from the summer. It's not raining constantly here in the UK. I've got my top surgery on 13th Jan and so am trying to make the most of it for the next few months as won't be able to do much for 6 weeks.
