It’s so interesting how heavily gendered baby clothes are an extremely modern phenomenon like even in the midcentury period baby clothes were often the same cut and color for baby boys and baby girls but now you can’t put your son in a pink romper and you have to use baby glue to affix a flower to your daughter’s head so everyone knows she’s a little girl.
For a while I had a freelance proofreading gig helping out a site that sold, among other things, teething toys.
The amount of people who cared whether their baby was chewing on a blue car or a pink flower was astounding to me. I assure you, the baby doesn't care about anything other than 'ahhhhhh that feels better,' and you need not care about anything other than 'can baby chew off a piece of this and choke on it? no? cool.'
