This is my first time posting anything this long or anything like this ever, so if I have bad grammar or if this comes out (pun not intended) weird or awkward or not well written, please bear with me.
I am almondsexual. No, it does not mean I am sexually attracted to almonds. It is a microlabel that falls under the bisexual and pansexual umbrella, and it means that I am attracted mostly to male, masculine, androgynous, and non-binary people, with occasional attraction to female and feminine people.
I began identifying my sexuality as almondsexual about a week or two ago, though I haven’t told anyone. It wasn’t the first time I had heard of that microlabel, but I’ve never bothered to look into it much until recently. I’ve been questioning my sexual orientation for several years now. I believed that I was bisexual back then, and I still do, but because I’m a woman who is primarily attracted to men and often go a few years without experiencing attraction to another woman, I was always afraid that I wasn’t valid or that I was faking it. When I first started exploring my sexuality, it took me some time to learn that my attraction towards different genders does not need to be split evenly for me to identify as bisexual, and even though I learned that a few years ago, I still felt doubtful for a long time because I didn’t want to invade queer spaces. However, discovering and learning just a bit about almondsexuality has helped so much in making me feel validated in my sexual orientation, and I believe that it fits me.
This is not my first time ever coming out. I first came out to my parents years ago when I realized that I was bi. But this is my first time coming out to anyone as almondsexual, and my first time feeling almost 100% certain that this is, without a doubt, who I am.
A few years ago, I also started questioning my gender identity and if I’m non-binary, genderfluid, a demigirl, or something else. Coming to the conclusion that I’m cisgender and most comfortable using she/her pronouns was pretty easy, but I haven’t quite stopped questioning it entirely, because I still may be a demigirl. I have yet to figure that out, but I’m trying not to rush myself too much.
Less than a year ago, I started questioning another part of my sexual orientation, and I still am questioning. I believe that I may fall somewhere under the asexual umbrella, and possibly under the aromantic umbrella as well, but am still unsure of where I am on either of them. I do have a few ideas, though. But I’m trying not to rush myself too much with this one as well.
