we were discussing wills and inheritances in the breakroom today and one of the boys brought up that he heard if you hate someone in your family, youāre supposed to leave them something, literally anything, even if itās just like 1 penny, so that they canāt sue and say you just forgot them, and one of the other boys said why wouldnāt you just say likeĀ āI specifically do not leave anything to this personā and one of the girls piped upĀ āNo, leave them 1 penny, itās a bigger fuck youā and then she paused and goesĀ āNo wait, tell them that you leave them everything in the box youāve buried in the woods and they have to go find it and dig it up and then they can have everything in it, but itās just 1 pennyā and because I am a writer, and thinking up wild things to have happen is part of the writing job description, I (without looking up from my computer where I was currently writing a story) saidĀ āor a bomb. I mean, you hate them rightā and i looked up and everyone was looking at me and the girl (who FYI is a horror movie enthusiast and I had figured on appreciating the joke) goesĀ āwell. I mean, what are they going to do, arrest me? Iām dead.ā and I wish I could bottle the looks on the boysā faces.
When I worked full time as a genealogist a colleague showed me a will that said they left enough rope for their son in law to hang himself and nothing else.

Valid and wholesome boomer representation. More of this please.
this morning when i woke up i had sleep paralysis so to pass the time i pretended that i was battling an invisible wizard who had cast an immobilising spell on me, and i focused on this wizard and thought at him "YOU HAVE NO POWER HERE" in a really loud mental voice, and as soon as i did that the paralysis went away like literally immediately
I defeated the wizard
It's always fucking Reagan
The "these two things are not related" at the end absolutely elevates this to god tier

can we talk about how literally 64% of people wear glasses, and yet we NEVER see them in movies/tv unless it's on some nerdy or uncool character? why do we adhere to such a weird beauty standard that subconsciously makes us feel bad for,, not being able to see???
I used to work for LensCrafters and I can tell you for a fact that they make a big deal out of wanting as many customers as possible to want to get contacts. Every meeting there was a reminder that we were to push contacts. Hell, the other employees /managers repeatedly tried to push contacts on me even after I informed them that there was no way that I would ever shove a piece of plastic into my eye.
To them, the difference between selling glasses and getting a customer to sign up for contacts is like the difference between selling a video game and getting a player to get a monthly subscription.Ā And failing that their next big sell is for frames that cost twice to three times as much, but have little to no frame (and thus almost look like you arenāt wearing glasses at all) and are fragile as all hell (and thus are likely to break and have to be replaced).
They canāt rely solely on our prescription getting heavier or otherwise changing to the point that we have to buy a new pair every year. They want to push you to buy their product every time that you visit the optometrist and then some more in between.
As counter-intuitive as it might seem, it is in Big Opticās best interest to convince us that we look terrible if we wear glasses.
I look cuter in glasses and I'll wear the same pair for five years, Big Optic can suck it I love my glasses
