Why did they decide to make everything about the vampire show so soap opera like? Every relationship is flattened by a kind of mundane treatment I can't even explain.

Gabrielle, who finally gets to be herself when she becomes a vampire and who spents the whole book series buried in the earth in remote places and basically running away from Lestat at every opportunity, is being reduced to a kinda dominatrix son fucker?

I know I'm judging too early and all that but even her look, the way she is so clean and put together when being unkept and dirty from exploring Earth's jungles is such an important part of her character.

I'm just very annoyed.
