I made a pillowfort acct.
If any of you guys are on there, lmk. Comment, tag, dm, whatever.
My username and avatar are the same.
After a few hours of pillow fort use, here is my review:
Refreshing. Low-pressure environment. Emphasis on use of communities (much like Tumblr's communities) but can follow individual users. Functional, searchable tags.
Zero "social capital".
A lot of the charm of the old web with a lot of the utility of the new web. NSFW is allowed, trans women don't get deleted randomly, and no advertising.
The pace is much slower. There are significantly fewer users, so you're likely to hit the bottom of your dash. There is a lively art and fandom culture.
Biggest immediate differences: reblog replies are not a thing, talking in the tags is less common (because their tags are actually functional as a search tool), smaller user base, generally older (mid 20s+) users.
It's a much better site to give your money to.
I'll probably have a foot here and a foot there for the foreseeable future.
They know every time Tumblr staff does something stupid because they immediately get refugees.
