The way our society treats women's beauty care is frankly so vile. You force all these women to pluck their body hair out, spend an arm and a leg on skincare and haircare, exercise, diet, tan or not depending on the fashion du jour, pay for hairdressers and nail shops and spas, strategically buy the most flattering bra, walk in painful heels, etc., and then you mock them for that very same thing. Women are punished for their supposed vanity, their shallowness; hideous caricatures are drawn of elderly women with curlers and face masks (because how dare they aspire to attractiveness). You shun and revile women who don't conform to this standard, but while you appreciate the beauty of the women who do make these sacrifices you find the fact that they had to work for it laughable. Vain, dumb little things. Can't they just roll out of bed with no body hair or wrinkles, put on their little heels and not complain, and go do something more important than putting oil in their hair?
