Friend, I say this as someone who has worked in hellscapes like that - it is 100% illegal for them to dock your pay, and unlike say, being fired for racial discrimination or sexism, you can prove it happened. There is a paper trail. And the wrongful dismissal case for them firing you over demanding your pay back would give you such an incredible case that you could make THOUSANDS through litigation. In my state, I know at least 10 firms that would do that pro bono. I know this shit is hard and employers are trash, but you absolutely DID and DO have recourse. Getting salty at fellow workers for pointing this out to you does not help anyone, including you. It's not "pollyanna entitlement" to tell you you have the right to fight for your wages. A Story of Two Chest X-Rays

One patient with a vaccine and one patient without. Version 2—for the crowd that wants specifics without violating patient privacy (these are published cases).

The top picture is of a 47-year-old man who received the Pfizer vaccine and developed COVID19 2 weeks after. He was overweight (BMI = 29), but without any known comorbidities. He had a runny nose, mild body aches, mild cough. His chest X-ray is relatively normal.

The bottom picture is a 50-year-old active female patient without obesity and not on medications. Her chest X-ray shows diffuse opacities, consolidations in both lungs with lung damage (all the fluffy white), and a pattern that looks like the worst feared complication of COVID19—acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS). She needed intubation, mechanical ventilation, and ECMO (extra-corporal membrane oxygenation) – the most life support we can offer.

The mRNA vaccines are effective at preventing severe disease and death— even with the Delta variant. ICUs are starting to fill up with COVID19 patients again. This post was to emphasize that the vaccines are ~95% effective at preventing case 2 from happening. Of course, there are also mild cases of COVID in unvaccinated individuals.

Black lung tissue on the X-Ray is where the oxygen you breathe in gets into the blood. All the fluffy white is where the oxygen cannot get into your blood because of infection/inflammation, that’s essentially what ARDS is and the goal of mechanical ventilation/ECMO is to protect that damaged lung tissue and get the oxygen into your bloodstream and to your brain, heart and other organs.

Tumblr TOS states that *you*, the poster of shit on your blog, are responsible for the shit you post on your blog. This is in line with Section 230 of the US Communications Decency Act stating that websites themselves are not libel for content their users post.

"No provider or user of an interactive computer service shall be treated as the publisher or speaker of any information provided by another information content provider"

What they *are* doing with their marketing, is encouraging users to monetize content in a murky Intellectual Property area (since it can sometimes be transformative), one which historically/conventionally has been considered “off limits” for monetization, but if the IP holder decides to sue you, the poster, then tumblr isn’t going to do shit to help you.

one of my favourite things about tumblr is how it's all lovingly handpicked. there's no algorithm forcing things onto your feed, but instead long chains of mutuals and followers passing posts around simply because they liked it and ooh, maybe you might like it too. the entire website runs on people's sheer love of other people's posts and it's probably the best thing about this website. at least it's definitely the reason that this place feels more like a community than any other social media.

Tumblr does have algorithms. But if you’re old school, you turned them off when they showed up. Unfortunately, over time, new people might not know about them. I’m not certain which is the case with this post?

Regardless, if you go into Settings > Dashboard Preferences you can turn off the algorithms. The main algorithm is your basic non-linear “what tumblr thinks you should see” feed. Yes, it’s of people you follow? But it still leaves the ability to throttle certain posts Tumblr might hope you don’t see to the bottom of your non-linear feed.

The second and third are more harmless, randomly inserting posts from tags you track into your feed, but clearly labeled as such. So it’s something you might enjoy or not.

Really we need to share this info more regularly, so as time goes by, new people know that they’re in a non-linear algorithm feed of the people they follow, like Instagram or Twitters “home” mode.

In light of the recent PostPlus nonsense tumblr is trying to pull, here's a reminder that monetization of fanfiction can lead you to legal trouble. On Ao3 it's against the TOS to even mention any money-sending site at all because of the conditonal protection they offer.

Putting your entire fanfiction blog behind a paywall is like pointing a neon sign saying "please sue me". I bring this up specifically because tumblr mentioned fanfiction in the post that they made and that is going to leave a lot of people misinformed.

Remember: Do NOT paywall your fanworks.

And rest assured, my blog will never be pay-to-read, even if this weren't a fanfiction blog. I think the whole thing is ridiculous.

I just left my husband alone with our two children for sixteen days. I was not worried about anything regarding the house, their food, or their wellbeing. I put all the appointments in the family calendar and my husband checked it and kept them. I literally did not worry about them. Hell man, you just happen to budget for once in your life so that you can have some extra money in case something bad happens?

Your benefits immediately get cut off if you’re a cent over $2,000.

And, even worse, you usually end up having to pay back every dollar the government gave you that month.

So say you get $400. If they find out you’re twenty dollars over the resource limit, you have to give them all $400 back and you undergo an investigation of your funds to see if you will continue getting money.

Doesn’t matter. In fact, from what I can tell, people who do this are actually put under investigation for fraud.

My brother has been on California State SSI for autism for the last 10 years, and he absolutely has to (no joke, HAS TO) spend all 720 bucks of his SSI every month, because if he puts it in the bank he risks losing his SSI altogether.

Sometimes, at the end of the month, he has no idea what to do with his money because the whole month went by and he still has 400-ish bucks in his account, and he fucking panics because he doesn’t want to get anywhere near 2,000.

And here’s the funnest part of the story!

One day he did a huge commission on Second Life and wound up earning 1500 bucks off of it, and he told the guy to donate it 500 bucks at a time over 3 months. The guy didn’t want to, and just donated all 1500, which put my brother at 2,036 bucks.

The state IMMEDIATELY (I’m talking less than an hour) called him up to tell him over the phone that they were canceling his SSI, because they noticed he had gone over the 2,000 buck threshold. He had to tell them that someone had made a charitable donation to him and that this was not a common occurrence in any way shape or form, and upon not believing him, my mother had to call to talk to them as his legal caretaker and say basically the same thing until they called off the cancellation of his SSI money.

He also had to cancel his renter’s assistance because it put him to 1,062 a month, so if he went 30 days without spending any money they’d cancel his SSI altogether. Like, none of us in the family have any fucking clue why that regulation is in place and it’s the stupidest shit in human history.

Please, legal side of Tumblr, tell me what positive reasoning this law has?

Tourism pushes native Hawaiians from their land and homes, puts locals at risk for covid19, directly harms the delicate environment and native species here, houseless folk (many whom are native Hawaiian) are being illegally swept to make room for tourists at beaches, and locals are being restricted and fined for using water on east Maui, all while hotels can use up all the resources no problem and our government approves a million dollar home construction for new part-time residents (when locals who have been here for generations are being thrown into poverty, barely staying afloat, losing businesses and even their homes). “Hawai’i has become the Blood Diamond of the Pacific. We are mined for our splendor, and our residents live the every day, complex consequences.” 

It’s absolutely VILE what is happening here. I hope yall know that Hawaiʻi was overthrown and occupied by the US military, and isn’t even legally a state! Hawaiʻi is not your vacation spot, so you better tell your family and friends to stay at home.
