I'd like to recommend a really interesting article on colorism in pre-digitally colored comics (so broadly speaking, all or most comics published in the 20th c.) and how the printing process itself screwed with Black skin tones as well as how there was no (or minimal/uncommon) effort put in by creatives and publishers to correct for that.

That's dope! Thank you for sharing!
Okay listen I have another disability related thing that’s important!!
If you have any disabilities linked to tooth decay/erosion, through direct cause or secondary symptom, it is vital that you get one or both of the following items: Sensodyne toothpaste and enamel repair mouthwash
This includes health conditions such as acid reflux, diabetes, thyroid conditions, fibromyalgia, chronic pain & mental illnesses such as depression that create poor hygiene routines, sensory issue disorders like autism and ADHD, and any health condition that causes frequent vomiting / increased stomach acid, including eating disorders and migraines.
All of these disabilities will erode the enamel of your teeth, not only opening you up to cavities but making it very easy to chip your teeth from such simple things as biting the wrong way on the tines of a fork. (I’ve chipped my teeth at least 4 times this way).
The toothpaste on the left here (sensodyne pronamel) is gentle on your teeth, won’t cause painful sensations from any extreme mint flavor, and will even protect your gums if they’re sensitive from any of these conditions.
The mouthwash on the right (Crest enamel repair) will, as it says, repair your enamel — which is marvelous, because the technology to repair your enamel at all is relatively very new to society! — but it is most importantly non-alcoholic. Meaning that it works well as a once-a-day rinse without any of the burning sensations of antiseptics that typically discourage people with sensory issues from taking care of their teeth.
I know remembering to do these things every day can feel like a lot when you’re sick and exhausted, but I promise a collective three minutes out of every day is going to save you an incredible amount of pain and money in the future. If your teeth are susceptible enough to rot, you can actually die from infection. And as they say, with how little insurance actually covers dental —
Not brushing your teeth??
In THIS economy???
also: ask your dentist about durophat fluoride toothpaste!! I got some on prescription and it is a special formula that helps protect teeth
Clinpro is another great rx toothpaste that has a soft minty vanilla flavor. You can also ask for tooth cleaning powder at your dentist. The brand I use is called "common sense teeth cleaning powder," and it doesn't scratch the enamel off your teeth.
We use it when I need to neutralize the acid in my mouth because of things like acid reflux/the frequent throwing up that I used to endure because of my other ailments. Saved my teeth for sure.
TePe came out with new flavourless toothpastes this year for everyone with taste issues.
Also check out if you can get prescribed flouride tablets that you can use to get your flouride impulse if no toothpaste or mouthwash works. The other ingredients in toothpaste help you clean your teeth more quickly but if you brush well enough you can clean off the plaque with just a damp toothbrush. It takes much longer than with the help of toothpaste though. One trick for kids with sensory issues from my boss is to mash a flouride tablet with a drop of water and then put it on the brush.
The prescription I got through Medicaid was just called “Denta-5000”, I need it back so bad oh my goooooods
Hey everyone. If they take the flouride out of the water as they are threatening, you need to start using these immediately. I moved to a place on well water with no flouride and ten years later suddenly my teeth were rotting to hell. I never had a cavity before moving here.
I'm now on RX toothpaste and using mouthwash to try to save my teeth, but flouride is SO IMPORTANT.

The new Odyssey adaptation has inevitably gotten people talking about a Muppet version of it, and they’re frequently suggesting Kermit as Odysseus, Miss Piggy as Penelope.
I’m sorry but that’s thinking way too small, hear me out:
We need to have Miss Piggy as Odysseus, and Kermit as Penelope.
Think about it… who’s the more fickle, prideful, warlike one in that relationship? Who is absolutely ready to go ham, at a moment’s notice?
It ain’t Kermit
Miss Piggy tied to the mast while Statler and Waldorf heckle her from the sea
But who is the single human cast member in this tale? Who gets to put in an Oscar-worthy performance alongside the Muppets and what role are they to play?
There’s no single human, everyone is a Muppet except for one scene. Circe, played by Janice, turns Odysseus’s crew into humans who still behave animalistic and are all played by Academy Award winning actors.
Drug arrives years after pandemic’s peak, but could still offer protection to vulnerable populations.
An antiviral pill has, for the first time, been shown to prevent COVID-19 in people exposed to the SARS-CoV-2 virus at home, according to trial results published today in the New England Journal of Medicine1. The drug could be a lifeline for those who still face real danger from the virus, such as care-home residents or transplant recipients on immune-suppressing medication.
There are good things happening in the world.
You can read about it here without a paywall.
Households exposed to COVID-19 now have an oral drug specifically cleared to prevent infection after contact with a sick person. The FDA listed Xocova, the brand name for ensitrelvir, as a 2026 novel drug approval for post-exposure prophylaxis of COVID-19 following contact with an infected individual. The decision fills a gap that has persisted since the pandemic’s early years: until now, no oral antiviral carried an FDA-approved indication for prevention rather than treatment.
someone edited the Artemis II mission to “We Know The Way” from the Moana soundtrack and that was kind of my last straw. I broke down sobbing. We humans have gone from using the stars to navigate the seas, to navigating through the stars and returning by landing in the seas. Humanity is so beautiful when we work together like this. We are voyagers. We were always meant to explore the beautiful world we were given.
(edit) link to the edit in the comments!
(edit 2) i found another one. cried again.
In a perfect world we'd have a muppets odyssey movie rn

the demonization of condoms as a method by younger gens is awful because when speaking about sexual health no method is as safe, as easy and as complete as prophylactics, stop thinking about just preventing pregnancies, there's millions of things you need to be protecting against that are not reversible unlike pregnancies
The older i get the more i understand why some people become obsessed with privacy, not because they’re hiding something, but because being constantly perceived starts to feel spiritually exhausting.
Just saw the Hadestown proshot and I can't stop thinking about this moment in the second act, where we are watching Opheus and Eurydice try to walk out of Hadestown surrounded by the fog and the singing fates. They had just come from the scene where all the workers say "because if he can make it, then she can make it, then we can make it" but it's becoming clear he can't beat the battle in his head alone. And part of me was already mourning his failure and how everyone's hopes were dying with him, but the rest me thought "of course he's failing! We can't do it alone! We can't wait for someone to be successful before we try, we have to all go together or we'll keep failing one at a time."
Any way. Collective action y'all. Stop trying to save the world by yourself.
Also, how is a tragedy this hopeful?!??
I just feel like we're not talking enough about the pro-labor, pro-union, themes in Hadestown. My boy Orpheus is literally wearing a red bandana. He said you simply have to stand up, together, even when it's terrifying and you have never done it before. There are more of us than them. Even if it seems impossible we have hope, because we are standing in solidarity. You can only make demands of gods if you have your union behind you. And then you realise they aren't gods, and you can bargain.
'theatre is dying' okay but everyone is flocking to see a beautiful hit musical now that it's been released in the cinema, something more affordable and accessible to most people, and ticket sales in the west end in particular have spiked
'cinema is dying' okay but everyone is flocking to their local cinema to see a beautiful hit musical, and so many have shown up this weekend that licensers decided to extend its theatrical release for another week, a massive rarity in the current climate
maybe the answer to saving art is... seeing art?? and making art accessible??
