the doctor getting to meet a future incarnation of themself in the tardis: im so happy for you and your ugly fucking console room im serious
So like, do you think that Missy was like, making lists of "biggest control freaks in the London area" or what, how did she find and pick Clara?
Or perhaps what I think is the far funnier option, she just happened to be working in that shop just like... because, or for some completely unrelated evil plan. And when Clara walked in out of the blue Missy instantly clocked her vibe it's that strong and was like "You know what would be a good idea?" Clara's casually browsing the shelves and Missy is mentally speed-running how many parallels to her and the Doctor she could get if she pushed them together.

The real thing with ADHD is not "I forgot", but that forgetting is this ongoing process. I remembered! And then I forgot.
At ten this (hypothetical) morning I remembered that I have a meeting at six. And then from 11 through 3 I worked on other stuff and had zero thoughts about that meeting. Maybe even thought about what I was gonna do with my evening at home. Got attached to the idea of taking the time to make a good dinner, maybe play some video games.
And then at three I said, "Oh! Fuck!" and remembered again, hopefully long enough to set an alarm. And then I went to the bathroom and remembered that I need to clean the counter and spent twenty minutes cleaning the bathroom and went to get a snack and then at five I said, "OH! FUCK!" and had to scramble to dress like a real adult and get out the door.
It isn't one clean forgetting. It's a constant process of forgetting and then, with an exhausting adrenaline spike, remembering. And then forgetting. Baby, I can forget the same thing more times in a day than you ever forgot your parents' anniversary.
yeah...
just today my mom told me to turn off the lights and in the time between processing this instruction and getting up to turn off the lights, it slipped my mind entirely.
she reminded me...and i proceeded to forget by the time i got to the next light switch.
I think a lot of people can't quite get their heads round the idea that it is not just possible but common for us to forget what we're doing while in the process of doing it.
It's why alarms and reminders don't always help - I still have to keep it in mind between switching off the alarm and getting up to do the thing and actually finishing the thing, and that is unfortunately plenty enough time for it to fall out of my brain again without me noticing.
It's really striking me, going all the way back to the beginning of Chibnall's Era (I'm currently watching Arachnids in the U.K.), how much this Era cares about how it talks about family and adoption and unconventional families and the like.
There is a stark contrast between Ryan talking about his father and protesting that his father doesn't get to use the words "proper family" to describe their relationship when his Nan (and Graham, as the season comes to show their growing relationship/understanding) was the one to actually show care and raise him and take care of him when his father didn't show up and Ruby referring to her biological mother- who gave her up at birth- as her "real mum" above Carla Sunday, the woman who raised her and loved her and was the one that was there for her. (The Timeless Child complicates the themes of adoption in this era, what with how the Doctor's own adopted backstory is complicated by themes of colonialism and other matters, and I think that's actually a good and interesting angle to explore in contrast to the Sinclair/O'Brien storyline, without treating adopted families aa if they don't matter- if anything, the Doctor's messy feelings on the subject only hammer in how complicated it can be to wrestle with adoption and nature v. Nurture and exploitation and the like without invalidating experiences entirely, as I think is done so often with the treatment of Carla Sunday in alternate timelines/Ruby's elevation of her biological mother as her "real mom" over the woman who took her in. There is a difference that the Chibnall era makes between child-stealing/colonialism and adoption with the contrasting character arcs/themes/circumstances that RTD2 absolutely lacks nuance on.)
I think it really shows both the complicated feelings of being someone is adopted as Chris Chibnall is while also the appreciation and respect for adoption and the fact that "real" family is the family that chose you, biological (Grace and Ryan) or not (Ryan and Graham).

the existence of "maybe", "perhaps", "perchance", and "mayhaps" suggests there should also be "maychance" and "perbe"
CAN WE MAYCHANCE NOT 😭
Perbe you should have thought about the consequences before posting a linguistic banger
they posted a full version lol it’s mr Stacy’s dad for me
The best part of this, to me, is that according to another one of their songs (bi bi bi)… only the band’s front man is queer. The rest of them are straight, but they are fully in this with him.
don't you dare hide this in the tags
i’d be really curious to know what percent of queerbaiting is
a) an intentional marketing scheme to stir interest in the project and attract certain fanbases (lgbtq people and young women) vs.
b) members of the creative team genuinely wanting to write queer characters but the corporate side of things force them to tone it down but they still leave little hints vs.
c) they legitimately did not know how gay something would come across
The answer: A is 100%. Because B and C are not queerbaiting. The literal meaning and definition of it is A.
#a) queerbaiting #b) queer coding #c) subtext
Please tumblr learn the difference and stop shitting on good shows
Anyone who’s still not clear:
Teen Wolf show-makers asking fans what they wanted, getting the answer ‘canon-queer relationships’ and then just hinting at Stiles being bi and having the characters people ship hang out platonically is queer-baiting
Gravity Falls having the two male police officers hold hands and show genuine affection to one another, but not being allowed to confirm they were married because the studio wanted to sell the show to Russia and China is queer-coding
Arthur Conan Doyle genuinely not understanding why some people would think two men living together, declaring their undying affection for one another, and constantly referring to Holmes as a ‘confirmed bachelor’ was a bit gay is queer-subtext
Clear now?
