Hey sooooo…y’all know how I said “Jeff - He knows sign language. One time, he had an awful nightmare about BEN going into cyberspace and coming back deaf. When he woke up, he started to learn, in case it ever did happen…bros I could rly hit y’all with some angst but I won’t :/“ (the most recent post, quoting) and how I wouldn’t hit y’all with some angst…well I lied so…yeh (it’s very light angst so ya know… I’ll write u guys something good soon”
A cold sweat drenched the pale mans face as he shot up in bed, his breathing heavy. He swung his head from side to side, forgetting where he was for just a short time. He rubbed his face, coating his hand in a light sweat, and well as tears. Was he crying?
He looked to the alarm clock on his nightstand, the bright red numbers read 1:47 AM. He looked forward, rubbing his face again. He hadn’t meant to fall asleep, in fact, he was supposed to be with his friend currently.
His friend…it all came rushing back. BEN, where was he? Was he okay? What was going on? The slit mouthed man sprung from his bed, not a care if someone on the lower floor heard him. He rushed out the door, disregarding the white hoodie he adorned so much.
Running through the halls of the old mansion, he arrived at his friends door, not even caring to knock. He had to make sure BEN was okay, that he was safe.
As he came thought the door, he saw his elf-ish friend located on the floor in a bean-bag, controller in hand, empty bags of chips, and empty bottles of all kinds of soft drinks on the floor. BEN looked at Jeff, sliding off his mic, giving him a confused look.
“Jeff? Man, you good?” BEN looked at him, noticing his face seemed paler than it normally did. “You look like you’ve seen a ghost.”
“BEN…” Jeff mumbled. The pale boy ran to his friend and tackled him off the bean-bag in a crushing hug.
“AGHH-“ BEN yelled, “WhaT tHE hELl MaN?!” His voice glitched, his body freezing up. This wasn’t like Jeff, unless he was drunk.
“I…your okay…” Jeff trailed off, BEN wasn’t fully able to understand a word he said.
“Yeah? Why wouldn’t I be?”
“It’s just…you just…” Jeff couldn’t find the right words, “Cyberspace.”
“What about it?“ BEN became worried.
“I don’t know, just one second your here, fooling around and shit. The next, your gone into that weird world of yours. You come back and…you…you didn’t know what we were saying…you couldn’t hear.”
“What?” BEN asked. Jeff was marking no sense at all. Him, the BEN DROWNED going deaf from cyberspace? ‘No way in hell’ was the only thing BEN could think.
“It’s true“ Jeff said, letting go of his friend and sitting back. BEN gave him a confused look and then shrugged.
“I think you were having a nightmare, I mean, I’m able to hear perfectly fine“ BEN said, looking at his friend.
“M’ sorry“
“Sorry? What are you apologizing for? That you had a nightmare?” BENs ‘eyes’ were full of worry and concern. Jeffrey Woods was apologizing? No fucking way. “Look man, everyone has nightmares now and then. If you want, you can crash in here for the night.”
“Yeah, that’s a good idea.” The pale man already had clothes and blankets all over BENs room, he practically lived there, “Don’t stay up too late dude” Jeff said, climbing into BENs bed and falling asleep almost instantly.
“Yeah yeah, I know.”
Weeks later, Jeffery finally had it all copied. The whole alaphabet, numbers, and even phrases. He knew it was unnecessary, that what he had was just a stupid nightmare. He couldn’t shake it though, it never left his mind.
So, in retaliation, he learned sign language.
Now, it didn’t matter if his friend went through that pain, he would be by his side. The nightmare couldn’t hurt him anymore, right?
