A separate issue, from prev, to be clear, because there is war in multiple Arab countries right now, but thinking specifically of something I see a lot online... I do think the conflation of Palestinians with all Arabs/Muslims has lead people to accept rhetorical framing in which all Arabs and/or Muslims are oppressed by Israel or have a part in the Palestinian experience and this has been deliberately promoted for political reasons and is part of why so many people's takes on the war and broader I/P conflict are so wretchedly stupid.
There's a political cartoon from the 80s that I wish I had saved, so I basically just gave up and replicated it:
Just... yeah. RL is Israel is a tiny country that has spent its entire existence being attacked by the neighboring Arab and Islamic countries... but the narrative is that Israel is this neighborhood bully, overwhelming the tiny, innocent, tiny Arab nations around it out of pure malice.
It also says a lot that no one wants to talk about how Palestinians are treated outside of Israel.
Hamas is killing Palestinians, either by murdering them when they speak up or by creating food shortages intentionally or by making schools and hospitals into military bases.
Palestinians aren't citizens in several Arab countries, even if they were born there. They're just permanently refugees. They can't vote, and in some places, can't get steady jobs. Their citizenship is, hypothetically, Palestinian, but they can't get documents if they've been to the country.
Palestinians are hated by people of other Arab countries because a lot of folks think Palestinians are weak since they couldn't overtake Israel. I recently read a Facebook post by a Jordanian basically saying he refuses to feel sympathy for Palestine because Jordan supported them for years, only for the PLO to try and take Jordan and for them to continually commit acts of terror. Jordan gave up the West Bank for a reason. Egypt gave up the Gaza strip for a reason. That reason was the continuous terror attacks. That's why none of these countries are offering to take refugees in.
Egypt is contributing to the embargo on Gaza and isn't letting refugees in. Why? Because Hamas wants to spread more terror throughout Egypt and the Egyptians don't want their government destabilized.
The Palestinian diaspora is treated like garbage and instead of recognizing, "hey, this is a problem that goes beyond Israel", everyone wants to believe that Israel is the only country harming Palestine. Other Arabs are also hurting Palestinians.
In addition to the above:
Kuwait kicked out their Palestinian populace of 300,000 in an event they call "The Second Nakba" after Palestinian leaders backed Saddam's invasion back during the Gulf War, and enough of the local Palestinian populace collaborated with Saddam that the Kuwaitis booted the whole lot of them after the war was over.
Turns out, when you spend decades deliberately radicalizing a populace, they lash out, and not in a controlled manner. (It's something that I feel very sorry for the populace of them as a whole, where they've been forged into disposable weapons by their fellow Arabs)
“EBU wants Eurovision to be more family friendly and has asked the artists to tone down the nudity and inappropriate references this year. That went to hell immediately”
- Edward af Sillén, Swedish commentator, about Australia
What the past almost 2 years have shown me is that leftists view oppression and trauma as a finite "resource" (for lack of a better word), and if one group has more, it means they are immune from ever inflicting it on others.
"There is no rise in antisemitism, you're just trying to take away from Palestinian oppression"
"Israelis being kidnapped and murdered in their homes isn't a war crime, saying it is, is taking away from Palestinians"
My guy, this isn't maths class. "Johnny has 5 oppressions, if he gives one to Cody how many does he have left"
Oppression, trauma and suffering is an infinite thing. One group experiencing it doesn't mean another group is experiencing less oppression, less trauma and less suffering.
It is literally a right wing tactic to act as if a group speaking out about their oppression is taking away from someone else, and you are falling right for it.
Just say 'Jew'
Zionism is self-determination by the Jewish People. It's the notion that the Jews should continue to have a safe place of our own. We can't trust any other country in the world to allow us that. There's a 3,500-year-old Jewish community in Israel. Let us exist.
Returning to Israel has been the aspiration of the Jewish community since the day after the end of the Bellum Judaicum. If you don't want us in your country — which, apparently, is the case in Syria, Afghanistan, Libya, Iraq, Kuwait, Pakistan, Yemen, Algeria, Djibouti, Lebanon, and Indonesia — then don't whine when we return to our ancestral home. Don't kick us out and then say, "Oh no, they moved to Israel! Outrageous!"
As for the Arab Palestinians, many of whom are as new to the area as the diaspora Jews, there has been a two-state solution on the table since 1948. The Arab Palestinian politicians have rejected it four times.
The majority of Jews want Israel to continue to exist as a safe place for Jews. It's even in our liturgy. If you've ever been to a Passover seder, you'll understand what "Next Year in Jerusalem!" means, in context. So, when you say 'Zionist', what you really mean is 'Jew'.
There are Jews who don't support Israel's right to exist. There are self-hating people everywhere. Meanwhile, you can't take a core aspect of the Jewish identity and relabel it as something else. Just say 'Jew'.
Here is your mission.
TSLA hit its all time high of $488.50 on 15 DEC 2024. To reach of a price of $114.00 would be a 76.7% drop. That's huge, right?
Yeah well, when I checked the price just now (12 MAR 2025 @ 1:31 PM EDT), TSLA is currently trading at $250.85. That's down 48.6% from the high.
Babes, we're already nearly two-thirds of the way there.
TSLA $114.00. I believe this is where I say 'like to charge, reblog to cast.'
let it be so
If you're having a bad day, just remember that it's going to be winter soon and imagine what will happen to all the Cybertrucks ❤️
Salt-rusted unprotected steel panels... Meltwater getting into poorly constructed and poorly isolated electronics... Stuck in snowdrifts that a real truck would have been able to deal with... Oh, those are indeed happy images. Yes indeed...
if you would rather elect a fascist than a liberal you're not a leftist you're just edgy
"no one for president 2024" how are you gonna stop the electoral process? what's your game plan for eliminating every candidate? or is this just theater to you?
if you wanted to actually make any material difference, you'd evaluate the political power leftists have and then actually use it. there ain't enough of us to elect a leftist president, let alone stage some mythical Revolution. meaning that if the country collapsed right now, it wouldn't be leftists that take over.
if your goal is to lose with your hands clean then by all means just keep posting and nothing else, but if you want to fix anything on the systemic level then you need allies. you need to be able to work with people you don't agree with on everything. that means making momentary compromises when necessary. emphasis on momentary. if kamala gets elected, she isn't president forever, and if you vote for her, you aren't sworn to the democratic party.
low voter turnout has never made the US shift to the left before, so I don't know why so many tumblr users think it suddenly would now. decreasing voter turnout is a right wing goal, they pour obscene amounts of money into it. if leftists don't vote, that's less resistance for republicans, and it's frankly the only reason republicans ever get elected anymore.
I'm not gonna call anybody a psyop, and it doesn't really matter if they are or not, because it doesn't change the fact that y'all anti-voters are spreading conservative propaganda to own the libs. I've literally seen leftists arguing, at me, that "trump is actually less damaging for minorities" like are you fucking listening to yourself. you are so obsessed with owning the libs that you have stopped being critical of fascism. how do you not realize you're straight up parroting conservative propaganda?
someone is gonna get elected this year, and based on the polling data it's gonna be trump or harris. you can either increase the chances that it's trump, or increase the chances that it's harris. refusing to vote increases trump's chances, so that's probably not a particularly leftist move. if you think there is no difference between trump and harris, then either you aren't paying any attention at all, or you just don't care.
I listened to the anti-electoralists, I genuinely gave it consideration, and I'm sorry but it's contributing nothing to leftism, it's just conservative propaganda dressed up in woke language. they're the Useful Idiot for conservatives
When you berate people for drawing a line in the sand when it comes to genocide, it casts some doubt on your claim that you "listened and gave it genuine consideration". Genocide is one of those topics that should be UNDERSTANDABLY difficult to compromise on. So why don't you let people use what little power they have to protest and push for change?
protesting genocide by electing Donald "Finish the job" Trump. a foolproof plan that could not possibly backfire
Not voting as a “protest” is so funny.
You can’t boycott a vote lmao. All that happens if you don’t vote is that you wave the option to have anyone listen to you.
It’s like showing up at debate club and taping your mouth shut. And then expecting to win.
Let's put it this way: there is a chance that the Harris administration can be bullied into doing what we want. Trump cannot and will also start trying to wipe out people here with horrific glee- he has said he wants to be a dictator on day one. By saying you aren't going to vote, you have basically said you cannot be bothered to deal with trying to bully the democrats into doing something good, and instead you want to step back and pretend you have been noble.
Your “line in the sand” on genocide is sitting back and allowing an explicitly pro-genocide fascist to gain control of the most powerful nation on earth and its military? That line is worth less than the sand it’s drawn in.
You aren’t making ethical decisions based on some long-standing concern about genocide, you have a propaganda driven, outsized concern about the one conflict that is dominating your social media feeds and that your equally propagandized peers expect you to be superficially correct about while doing absolutely nothing to actually address it or even learn anything about it.
Or to learn anything about any of the other genocides you might want to draw some sandy lines about at some point before another 6 million are dead in Congo (largely over the minerals that make your electronics work) before another 3.5 million children starve in Sudan, before another million Uyghur are put into concentration camps in China - oh wait, they don’t get to have babies any more - before another Ukrainian city is destroyed like Mariupol, or before a million more Rohingya are forced out of Bangladesh and crowded into the world’s largest refugee camp.
You live in the imperial core. Your hands will never be clean. But somehow you’ve convinced yourself that bathing them in more blood of people whose homes you can’t even find on a map will keep you pure.
It’s time to be for real.
Sure are a lot of people "keeping their hands clean" by not helping Democrats beat Republicans because ~you can't compromise on genocide~ but still keep on paying taxes though!
In the “more posts like this” panel under your reblog, reconditarmonia, were several posts from 2016 showing this is a rerun. Back then it was “leftists” refusing to vote for Hillary Clinton because she was insufficient for their desires, and they thought that allowing Trump to win would spur such a groundswell of leftist activism that it would course correct the US, shove the Overton window back to some magical more progressive time they’ve imagined and blah blah blah.
And now here we are with the exact same kind of people making the exact same argument that allowing Donald Trump to win will magically create leftist progress.
The same leftist progress that never materialized at all when he was allowed to win in 2016 — before a pandemic that killed a million Americans and disabled at least 10 million more, before a summer of mass social unrest, violence and deaths that netted no actionable progress at all, before we lost Roe and the lives and health of yet unknown numbers of pregnant people denied basic medical care, before January 6, and before the explosive growth of a fully fascist movement that is far more entrenched and far more angry and violent than they were eight years ago.
It’s almost as if there is a certain political mindset that strongly correlates to an absolute refusal to learn anything from their own lived experience, let alone recent history.

I turned on asks yesterday for assistance finding statistics for a paper, and in those 24 hours, I have gotten twelve asks from people claiming to be Gazan, and ten of those were in the last FIVE HOURS. It's making Tumblr unusable. I want my asks to be on because I like doing ask games, but I don't want to wade through the same shaming asks reusing the same text and pictures.
I already donated to Doctors Without Borders, Anera, and Standing Together. Like??? I don't have a ton of money to begin with, so even if I believed these were real, I wouldn't be able to donate.
It's really obvious that these are bots and I've just lost patience with it. I'm sick of the scammers and their supporters.
You know how you're not supposed to feed raccoons and bears and such because they'll just keep going to humans for food and start bothering the people who don't want them? Yeah, that's the effect of all these people reblogging or even donating to these bots. You are encouraging behavior that we know is linked to scams. And it's just wrecking the website for those of us who actually want to use it and want to give our money to real Palestinians and make sure it doesn't go to Hamas or other human traffickers.
The interesting thing about the Tankie love of the term "liberal Zionist" (or its variant here, "I'm not a Zionist but-") is that it seems to encompass a variety of the following positions:
"I live in Israel, but hate Netanyahu and Likud."
"I don't live in Israel and don't ever want to move there, but still hate Netanyahu and Likud."
"I want a two-state solution."
"I don't believe in any states, including Israel, but am against people using anti-Zionism as an excuse for antisemitism."
"Zionism is not a monolithic movement."
"I support the Standing Together movement."
"There's no excuse for how Israel is treating Palestinians, but it's still fucked up to vandalize a synagogue in Europe or the US to protest that."
If your definition of a supposed movement is that broad, then it's really not much of a movement at all, now is it?
The only thing this positions actually seem to have in common is that they're telling some anti-Zionist activists that it's not OK to be antisemitic or blame Jews in general for the actions of the Israeli government.
And if that feels you with a murderous rage, well... maybe it's time to consider why you feel that way.
For someone like archaeocommunologist, though, there's probably no hope. Currently, the vast majority of his blog consists of him picking fighting with Jewish users.
deeply un fucking serious ppl here on tungle dot edu.
Donald Trump spouted literal Neo-Nazi rhetoric about Haitian immigrants eating pets, and there's people on this site who STILL wanna pretend Kamala Harris is the genocidal fascist.
my guess is it’s bc she said this in regards to israel and palestine:
and to these people anything less than 100% unquestioning support of hamas (not palestinians as a whole but hamas specifically) or any attempt to condemn the atrocities of october 7th is fascism bc they are literally just doing the thing conservatives do where “everything i don’t like is communism” but this time it’s “everything i don’t like is fascism.” like. you don’t have to like or agree with her statement, or her speech at large, but calling it fascist is utterly unhinged and unserious.
this person is a staunch antizionist and anti-Israel. (stated as a neutral fact of their positions.)
but take a guess at what some of the replies to these tweets look like
