OK I keep seeing people refer to the Michigan parasite outbreak and then others will chime in “it’s in my state too!” so to clarify this for everyone it is a NATIONWIDE outbreak reported in 31 US states as of today, July 12th 2026. There is no reason to assume it is not present in the rest of them

The CDC is tracking cases but they are significantly lagging behind the states on numbers (their data is weeks behind) so it’s probably going to be most effective to check your individual state’s infectious disease tracking.

This is a parasite that usually causes about 3000 cases of illness per year in the USA, Michigan currently has reported about 2900 (the confusion about “Michigan outbreak” is because Michigan is the first that caught an uptick in cases and has been very proactive about trying to trace them). Last official update from Massachusetts was 18 cases here centered in Greater Boston. The CDC recommends NOT assuming there are no sources of the parasite in your state even if no cases have been reported.

It isn’t an unknown illness but it is an unusual quantity of cases, and the fact that they haven’t been able to pin down the source after weeks of tracking is what makes it particularly concerning this year (harder to contain).

that last part is extra important. nearly every one of these produce outbreaks are because of poor hygenic practices on the fields, and particularly, because field workers do not have adequate access to bathrooms. nobody wants to poison your food, but they often don't have a choice. they also often lack proper access to water, cooling equipment (such as sun hats and portable fans), and management; this can make it significantly harder to think clearly and make a wise decision, let alone survive the day. when this comes up in conversation, call this out. make sure everyone around you KNOWS that the reason the lettuce is constantly unsafe is because farms are not giving a shit about worker welfare, and the people growing and picking your lettuce have to walk ungodly distances in 100+ degree weather without water just to take a shit. oh, and if they DO choose to do that, they may be punished for taking an unscheduled break.

if you wanna go further, let everyone know that the majority of labor laws have an exception carved out for agricultural workers.

I, unfortunately, got bored with the Natlan Quest and had really bad depression unrelated and it literally made me drop the game. I have a LOT of complaints about genshin in its current state, but if you're an active player, it's likely nothing you haven't heard someone else say already. Powercreep, mechanics, designs (Sandrone was fucking ROBBED. haven't met her in game, but ROBBED.) endgame content.

but I've been playing since 1.2 I need to know how this shit ends. So, my good chat, I invite you to lock in with me as I play an entire years worth of content in a month and a half.

finished the prologue quest: literally more interesting than whatever was officially going on in the entire natlan quest. I feel a little bad because obviously I am going to forget things if it takes me two years to just finish one quest, but Natlan's story was weird and frequently had slow pacing. I fear this is not an issue fixed in this quest, but Ineffa's personal story is interesting. I wish she was just a Natlan character outright instead of a Nod-Krai character however, or had more Natlanese elements to refer back to her background. She doesn't look like someone who is powered by an ancient dragon ai???? I wasn't expecting much, as Hoyo did the entire nation of Natlan dirty, but I was still disappointed. Once again, I have issues with the designs. This is one of my gripes about the game

the quest does do a good job setting up the Fatui as antagonists for Nod Krai and overall as well as reminding the audience that they actually suck after Capitano sacrificing himself. rip Capitano you will always be iconic

man I miss Sumeru/Fontaine. The fact we go back to Sumeru for the 6.6 quest is part of the reason I decided to come back at all, I love the Sumeru cast and how they interact with each other.

you would think i would've completed a whole quest earlier. but no matter.

I've finished Act 1 of the Nod-Krai archon quest and I have a few thoughts in no particular order:

-Flins' introduction, while I did love it, was probably popped too soon? I imagine we could've met him in the next patch. I know they have to introduce everyone in the first act but it was a little ham-fisted.

-I loved getting to know Nasha Town and the Frostmoon Scions on Hiisi Island, Hoyo has gotten much better with their city/dwelling modelings and making it lively. I still do not know how to navigate Nasha Town and I fear I never will. I feel this was the point

-called the fake aether from a mile away, but its probably an entity unrelated to the Abyss Order, but abyssal in nature anyway. The Wild Hunt seems unrelated to the Abyss Order, so we might not learn as much about Khan'riah as we did in previous patches, but the Sneznhaya teaser makes it clear we will be learning PLENTY so I'm not concerned

-sad we only got to see Aino for a grand total of five minutes after Ineffa talks about her through both the prologue and right up until they meet.

-love the curatorium of secrets squad they're very cool and mysterious

-can you IMAGINE Lauma's back pain. her antlers, her boobs, and the crushing weight of expectations and lying to your people about their faith must put some real strain on her spine. if 6.0 was like the other patches we would've gotten a silly event where she gets to visit mizuki's bathhouse

-loved the infiltration mission in the last part of the quest, i love when video games let me sneak around government facilities!!!!
