re: bad reputations @ gatherings - Thinking about Cas in a scenario where his reputation is being sneered at too and he's just like "Yes. I'm used to my reputation being controversial." (After all, that's sort of what he did with Kelvin when Kelvin implied Cas's reputation needed to be repaired.)

re: protectiveness and/or social weirdnesses - There's something hilarious too in the thought of him getting protective over not only Dean, but Sam. (Cas may have called Sam an abomination once, but that doesn't mean other people get to imply that.)

Overall, I think Cas could do one-word, brisk responses. "No." Or like, not even engaging with the concept or truths of stories at all but instead commenting on the social weirdness in a very on-the-nose way. "Is this intended to be welcoming?"

By far though, the most hilarious thought is him ACCIDENTALLY on-upping them by comparing their behavior to his (beloved) trash TV.

Cas almost getting the hang of human small talk at stores except "my brother" never really flows naturally into the conversations and "my family member," and "my housemate" sounds weird. He usually gets drawn into conversations about people taking about their spouses, so he just says, commiserating, "My... Dean gets irritated about something similar."

if supernatural was even more insane they would’ve had a case episode where sam and dean are contacted by an evangelical parent who is convinced their kid is possessed by a demon. So Sam and dean show up but lo and behold the parent just thinks the kid must be possessed by something unholy bc they found out their kid is gay.

So then the plot progresses and there IS some actual supernatural shit going with like. the sister or something. So Sam is investigating and researching the actual monster meanwhile dean is having super emotional heart to hearts with this kid about how there’s nothing wrong with them for loving who they love and demons have nothing to do with that. And he leaves that case feeling TOTALLY FINE
