I’m gonna spend today reading about bird crimes
The information going around saying that the blood donation ban has been lifted in Florida for all gay men is FALSE and is spreading confusion during an already confusing and distressing time
Here is the message that was supposedly distributed by oneblood:
Here is what Oneblood’s official twitter account tweeted just half an hour ago
Under the FDA as of late 2015 Gay men can donate blood, BUT there is a 12 month waiting period that bars men who have had sex with other men within the last year.
Please do not reblog/spread information without fact checking, it is absolutely VITAL to make sure that what you are sharing is accurate during a time of crisis.
what’s really fucked up because the attack was centered on lgbt+ people… and they’re asking for blood donations… and it’s illegal for lgbt+ people to donate blood… we can’t even help our own community
like imagine how that must feel to want to help your friends who were harmed and desperately need help but being legally barred from giving them the assistance they need. this level of irony is absolutely astounding
Florida blood bank welcomes gay donors after terrorist attack
http://www.theverge.com/2016/6/12/11912020/oneblood-blood-donation-orlando
If you click through that link you will see the headline has changed to "still turning away gay men" stop the spread of misinformation!
Only the only people in our community that can donate blood is cis women whove never been with a queer male partner. Not even lesbian trans women & straight trans men who never been with men can donate
Yeah, it’s awful. God.
They have announced a state of crisis and are temporarily lifting the ban.
That's misinformation the ban has not been lifted. Also unless you're type O or AB they don't need more today and are asking people to make appointments to come in the next few days.
Check OneBlood.org or call 1.888.9Donate
I want to take a moment to send my love and solidarity to LGBT Muslims in light of what’s going on. I know the pressure on you is already so high. Your faith is not to blame for this, you are not to blame for this. You’re allowed to mourn, too.
i’m feeling sick

Update: 2002 is as far away as 2030
You Will Be Rejected
Not: You might be rejected.
Not: You’ll have a few rejections.
Not Even: Well, if you’re only mid-list worthy you’ll have at least twenty rejections.
You want to get published? Fine. You need to accept that every single day of your career will have rejection.
Everything you write will be rejected.
Every book you publish will be hated.
Every character you love will be degraded.
Every hour you put in – the blood and sweat and tears – will be dismissed as “…talentless hack who doesn’t know how to string a sentence together.”
Millions of people will never read your book because they can’t read at all.
Millions of people will never read your book because they don’t speak the same language as you.
Millions of people will never read your book because they hate your genre.
Millions of people will never read your book because they don’t like fe/male authors.
Millions of people will never read your book because they didn’t get into it.
Billions of people will reject your work. They will mock you. They will dismiss you. They will talk trash about you.
You. Will. Be. Rejected.
It doesn’t matter. You aren’t writing for the millions. You are writing for the one.
The one person who tells you your book made them cry because it spoke to them.
The one person who tells you your book changed the way they saw the world.
The one person who tells you your book was the only light in a dark time.
The one person who tells you your book inspired them to be something more.
You are writing for them.
They will wish they could take your characters to prom.
They will read your book after their mother’s funeral.
They will curl up in bed with your book on a cold night after their first real break up.
They will turn to those pages time and again to revisit the places they love.
You’re going to get rejected. And you’re going to take that punch square on the chin and not ever back down because you know who you are writing for. Because you know it takes more than a pretty font to make a book work, you have to be willing to take the rejections. You have to go into this knowing you will fail a million times with a million readers, and that it doesn’t matter because you aren’t writing for them.
Keep your chin up. You are someone’s favorite author even if they don’t know it yet.
Here’s my full story from the Valor Anthology! Thank you all for supporting the Kickstarter in 2014 and the book last summer, as well as sharing stuff on tumblr. I learned so much from this project and had such a great experience working with all the great people in the book that I’m looking forward to sharing more comics this year :)
I’m ugly crying. i love this so much.

TURNS out two heads really are better than one. Two people have successfully steered a virtual spacecraft by combining the power of their thoughts - and their efforts were far more accurate than one person acting alone. One day groups of people hooked up to brain-computer interfaces (BCIs) might work together to control complex robotic and telepresence systems, maybe even in space.
