Bruce dealing with his birds having Bird Flu
It was a joke at frist, something Dick off handly mentioned. It was suppose to a joke, since it was flu season and there was this whole bird flu pandemic thing happening. How could he not make a joke about his sibling and him getting sick.
It started with Damian, of course. Out of all the siblings, he was the most likely to get in contact with a chicken. Alfred went to wake him for school one morning to find the 10 year old sneezing, coughing, and had a fever that the old butler found alarming. He was kept home that day.
Unforchantly, the family just believed it to be a simple cold, nothing that couldn't be shaken off with a couple days off partol. How wrong they were.
The next person to be affected was Tim. The only reason they found out he was sick to begin with was he was actually sleeping. More than his normal three hour naps. Like 10 hours each day. As much as Bruce was glad his child was getting sleep, he was starting to get concerned.
Thats when he had Dr. Thompson run a test to see what was making his kids sick. It was a strand of Influenza, avian influenza to be exact.
Then, it was Dick. He had orginally came over to help Alfred with the two youngest. Before he got sick, he learned that Damian got clingy when he wasn't feeling well, and add the cold meds that Alfred had been given him? Clingy and sleepy. Dick set up a little "nest" in one of the enterian ment rooms, put on some comfort movies, and keep both sick boys wrapped up in blankets and make sure they dont run off while high on cold meds. Not was Tim was going anywhere, asleep as he was. Or as clingy as Damian had been.
When he woke up, he felt horrible and wanted to curl back up. Alfred confrimed he was indeed just as sick as his brothers.
Duke had taken one look at the Damian and Tim a few days before and had high tailed it to sleep over at Stephanie's place until the two were better. He was always down to have a sleep over with the blond. Cass was there to, and she was his favorite sister. Unfortunatelty, he accidently got himself and Steph sick, while Cass just shook her head and got them Alfred's chicken noodle soup. Cass was awesome.
The funnies thing was when Bruce got a phone call from Jason, who was half way across the world on a mission with the Outlaws. His voice was half gone and tried sounding. He was asking Bruce if wouldn't mind asking Alfred to make him soup. While asking his second eldest why he didn't call the butler himself, Jason froze and said "because you're my dad?" in that sleepy, sick voice he had that reminded Bruce of when Jason was 11 and dealing with a stomach bug. He promised Jason that there would be plenty of soup for him, he could pick it up or could come stay in the manor untill he felt better.
That led the family to where they are now, in the nest of blankets and pillows and mattresses (alfred was not happy about that, but his grandkids seemes content and he would over look it for now, they were sick after all). Jason had come back, and was being used as a human body pillow by Dick, who had Damian curled up next to him, and Tim had a whole couch to himself, sleeply on the phone with his boyfriend. Duke and Steph were on the mattress, both half out of it watching a movie. Cass was on a beanbag chair, close but a good distance away. Bruce smiled, happy that his kids were all in one place. Alfred definally got some good photos of his sick and sleepy grandkids.
