awetistic things {1093}
thinking non-autistic people were the “weird” ones before you knew you were autistic
“Treat others how you want to be treated” is a cute sentiment but such awful real life advice that has gotten me into endless predicaments. Neurotypicals do not want to be treated how I want to be treated.
Turns out that among all eight billion of us, there are a few different sets of values and preferences and neurotypes. Turns out not everyone wants to be treated the same ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
nuerotypical people, i am not your fucking pet, autism isn't "silly" or "funny" or "cute" i literally want 2 rip my skin off when i can't read tone or when i touch something wet and squishy. i will shut down if i think i upset you. i will cut you out of my life if you're too overstimulating and step my boundaries. my special interests aren't something to be babied, and not wanting to be touched isn't just a quirk, my anger isn't okay to blow off just because i'm autistic, i'm still feeling these emotions. i am a real person. stop babying autistic people or treating them as a hand purse when you wanna say something problematic and back it up w, "i have an autistic friend/kid/sibling!"
sincerely, an autistic person who doesn't need your goddamn opinion on my disorder. 🌈♾️
no I fucking can't stand it when allistic people aren't listening bc when autistic people aren't listening they space out then realise you're waiting for a response and say "I'm sorry I only heard like 30% of that" and I'll be like "hey that's cool josh it's all in the email anyway dont worry about it."
when an allistic person isn't listening they will just interject with the exact opposite assumption of what you just fucking said in that condescending tone like you're the one who's not communicating right.
Me: I was online shopping an etsy business the other day and the website kept crashing --
Coworker: you were on our website the other day and it kept crashing??
FUCKING NO DARYL USE YOUR FUCKING EARS AND LISTEN TO PEOPLE FUCK GOD DAMN YOU.
it's so weird how allistic humans communicate. or really how they just. dont?
it's really weird because they don't say what they mean, and when you ask for clarification they act like you just shit in their shoe??
what always happens is that they say something mean or something that made me feel bad, and I politely tell them that what they said hurt me, but suddenly I'm being rude and evil and terrible?? what???
I apparently need to learn this shit before school so I can hopefully have friends this year
Would you ever date an allistic person?
Yes - I'm allistic
Yes - I'm autistic

as an enneagram type 4, the books all told me, "you always feel like youre inherently flawed but you arent <3," then everyone treated me like i was flawed. turns out im autistic and society just hates disabled people, so thats cool.
