Hear me out: any dragon can get a bit "glowy", for lack of better term, when they become an alpha.
(Or something else cool, idk)
Cause if not, that's a bit... weird, right? Like only a Night Fury can become alpha and only they get the extra color(s?)? What about other species? Is it something along the line of how they tend to look in the Hidden World?
I mean, from SoD (rest it's soul) we know Toothless turns blue (also in Rise of Berk, if you get that skin) in the Hidden World, so what about the other dragons? Do they get a much more concentrated version of a certain color(s) if they became an alpha?
Did the Bewilderbeast have one? What color? Blue? White? Yellow? Or none at all?
I think Meatlug would look cute if she had little green markings, like little plants :D
I need to get this off my chest because the most runaway au! fics I read, the more I think about it, and i KNOW, I KNOW, the IRL reason is that they probably didn't know for sure if they were gonna make the second one/this particular detail before it was too late to change it in the first movie and also I fucking hate the "every nest has its queen but this is the king" bullshit, Toothless should've been an alpha after the first movie already.
Like literally the only difference between the red death and the bewilderbeast is the species, but the WAY they control other dragons is the same, they both immit a hum/song/sound that entrances dragons. We KNOW that because they can both be broken/ignored by blocking the ears of a dragon, a bewilderbeast is just a bit stronger (based on the fact that they didn't need to block noise w/ the queen but she also could've been pissed enough to just not bother trying to control him).
Regardless, objectively, Toothless took on the ruler of a nest and sure, maybe he just like, never felt the need to do anything about it and just let the dragons chill but like, it would've been fun to elaborate on to some degree I think.
At minimum, I personally will probably use it in some fics cuz I want to.
I’m going to say it.
I don’t think How to Train Your Dragon 3 was good.
Not when you compare it to literally either of the other movies. Certainly not as a conclusion.
I mean, the first movie was about a boy who manages to understand a hostile dragon species and bring peace to two warring factions, which is a parallel for his relationship with his father. The second film was about how sometimes, peace has to be fought for, and Hiccup’s whole identity was in contrast with that—because while his mother ran from conflict and his father leapt at it too eagerly, he had always been the one to stop the fighting. Then he has to learn that the things we love are worth protecting.
And after he learns that humans and dragons can learn to understand each other and coexist—after he learns that it isn’t enough to run and hide or fight out of fear, but instead you must protect the things you care about—
After those two natural, powerful progressions are clearly worked for in the first two movies—
How to Train Your Dragon 3 comes along and says “‘No actually, sometimes all it takes is one madman whom you defeated with no loss of life to convince you that the things you care about should just crawl into a very pretty hiding hole, because you don’t feel like spending the rest of your life fighting for them.”
And I can say more. Below the break.
Happy 10th Anniversary, How to Train Your Dragon 2 🐉💗
Alpha Buttercup/Toothless = Toothcup (AU Fusion Concept)
- I have always imagined Buttertooth/Toothcup in their Alpha form/version. I can completely imagine Buttercup with her vertebrae spine glowing green such as her green eyes and mouth just like Toothless. Toothless would completely glow blue in his original Alpha form.
Now, the Buttertooth fusion in the Alpha mode hits different and more epic: just imagine these two (Toothless and Buttercup) having a fusion transformation as Buttercup's spine starts to glow up more and more such as her eyes, mouth and part of her stomach too. While Toothless's side starts to get quite more commanding, authoritative and full of power and rage. A letal fusion with powerful command abilities and wrathful powers!
Gonna draw this so you can see what I want to say with this concept soon. Stay tuned! :D
Invincible
An alpha!Toothless study that turned more serious the more I realized how difficult it was to work on. IDK, the last few months have been rough, and my art is suffering from it. It's frustrating, and I feel exhausted trying to keep my spirits up, to keep pushing when I want to quit.
