(Hi tysm for the prompt!! I hope you don’t mind that it ended up being more like a few more family members... the batkids are serial adopters just like Bruce what can I say)

The Batfamily and the Batpets

After Bruce the fish takes over the household the rest of the batkids  want their own pets

Bruce can’t really say no but he wants them to just each pick fish because it’s easier

The second the batkids hear this, well of course they go and find extremely exotic pets out of spite

Jason gets a boa constrictor and names it Dames

He won’t admit it but he fell in love with it immediately when it tried to strangle Tim when they got him

Jason: ‘his name is Dames because he tries to kill Tim, just like Damian’

Damian takes this as a compliment

Jason remakes the small guest room in his apartment to house the snake’s habitat and uses his rarely-touched trust fund money to go all out for his enormous tank

Jason, feeding the snake rats: ‘so this rat is named joker, and this rat is also named joker, and this-’

Jason: ‘HEY DO BOAS EAT BATS’

Steph and Cass decide to co-parent a parakeet and want to name it Dick because of his bright colors but Bruce immediately vetoes the name because without context it sounds like his kids are naming their pets after genitals

So they name him Ric :)

Dick: ‘can you please just let it go’

Steph: ‘never’

Tim adopts a baby turtle and keeps it in a tank in his apartment

He names it ‘Turtle’ because he’s BORING -steph

Steph starts calling the turtle ‘tiny tim’ and the name catches on to the rest of the family

Tiny Tim will snip at everyone’s fingers- except for Jason, a fact that makes Tim very disgruntled

Dick already has Haley the puppy so he doesn’t get another pet but he does get a small succulent that he names Cactus

Dick: ‘get it? Because it’s not a cactus so it’s ironic’

Damian: ‘we get it Grayson, you’re misgendering your aloe plant’

Dick:

Duke gets a red and black leopard gecko that he names Harley

Of course Harley gets wind of this and randomly pops in at 2 am in the morning to say hi to lil’ Harles

Despite the gecko living in Duke’s room, Duke doesn’t know she’s doing this until the fifth time she visits and he’s doing late night studying

Duke: ‘oh my GOD you’ve been coming to my room in the middle of the night just to say hi to my gecko???’

Harley: ‘she’s named after me so I get parental rights :D’

Duke: ‘...no??’

He lets her visit anyway but only during the day

One day Harley sits at the kitchen counter in her full costume and bunny slippers and casually sips tea from a wine glass while talking to Duke about how geckos mate

Bruce walks in to see this and just... backs away

They all fight over whose pet is superior

Damian scoffs and says of course the best pet is Batcow

Everyone agrees

Damian gives Alfred a trio of male guppies to keep in his room because they’re extremely pretty

Alfred lets the batkids name them so after an hour of arguing they finally agree to name them Barry, Clark and Hal

Ric the Parakeet gets an instagram at @pariceet and gets over a thousand followers within a day

the first post is a video of him bouncing along to tiktok music

Jason comments ‘CRINGE’ and Steph blocks him

So within a week the batfamily grows to include Dames the snake, Ric the parakeet, Cactus the aloe plant, Tiny Tim the turtle, Clark, Hal and Barry the guppies, and Harley the gecko, which is an add-on to Batcow, Titus, Ace, Haley, Bruce the fish and Alfred the cat

Bruce the human is. so tired.

Batfam Headcanons pt.1

steph does a lot more social media than anyone else. she takes a lot of selfies and has a moderately popular account under the handle steph.brownie

back when tim and steph were dating, tim made a private instagram account he kept a secret just so he and steph could be THAT couple online. think selfies of them laying on the couch with a romcom playing on the tv, and one of them is asleep on the other. think mirror selfies with them cuddling each other. that was them.

dick WOULD do more- he likes it- but he's a busy man

he has instagram but not twitter

tim has a public twitter he uses for work only, and private instagram and snap accs that are only visible to like,,, three people. he goes for three months without touching sm and then spends three days going through his feed. there's no in between

tim was an avid vine user back when he was in boarding school and he spent a lot of time on tumblr

damian has a public instagram that steph made him. he's never used it. there's not even one post.

cass has insta, snap, and twitter, all made by steph. she never uses twitter but she's made one or two stories on instagram and uses snap all the time. she loves sending three second stories to steph from hong kong or wherever she is atm

cass actually really likes wearing nice clothes. she likes all clothes really, since she's still developing preferences, but she finds dresses fun and easy to fight in as long as there's not too much excess fabric

steph introduced her to boba tea and she's never looked back

tim has watched everything. tv shows, movies. he used to spend a lot of the time he was alone in his house just watching anything and everything. someone mentions a movie at school? he writes in down on the corner of his notes and watches it when he gets home. someone makes a reference to an obscure sitcom made in 1978? he googles until he finds what he's looking for and watches all twenty seasons in two days.

that mostly stopped once he became robin since he got busy but if he had a few days off he’d try to binge something to fill the time. he doesn’t do it anymore once he becomes red robin.

cass' stan twt is basically the same as zendaya's. yeah. you heard me.

each person in the batfam has their own locker in the batcave with extra clothes, spare masks, old case files they didn't bother to put away, etc.

steph got bored one night and basically vandalized all of the lockers. the designs she out on them are bright and obnoxious but no one bothered to change them, so they're still color coded and glitterized with their codenames and goofy sharpie doodles of bruce

tim's apartment has four rooms he uses for various guests once he started reconciling with friends and family. cass, bart, cassie, and conner are the most frequent visitors after things finally settle with the titans

damian's phone is full of pictures of the most RANDOM things, all taken so well they look professional. it'll go from a perfect shot of Dick mid-flip in civvies to an old milk carton left abandoned on the sidewalk. he refuses to offer any sort of explanation.

that's all i have for now but i come up with more on the daily and its five am

Damian, Duke and Jason have a weird bond. Duke and Jason are huge fans of any kind of literature, especially classics. Damian is not what you would call a 'fan' but Shakespeare and Dickens were all he was read as entertainment when he was younger, so he developed a liking for it. All three of them meet in the library randomly and just sit around and talk about the books, or read aloud to each other. Damian is very good at mimcry, so he does different voices to read aloud. It's one of the rare times he seems happy, and Jason and Duke rather enjoy it. Sometimes Cass joins too, just to listen and steal snacks.
