Headcanon that one day Evan randomly asks Barty what his middle name is because after all the years they’ve been together he’s never found out what it was and now felt curious enough to care. They were laying next to each other on the sofa this one afternoon, having a lazy day and doing absolutely nothing, so he just thought that it was a better time than ever to ask. When Evan pops the question Barty just smirks and goes, “you already know my middle name.” Evan is so confused because how tf could he know Barty’s middle name when his boyfriend never told him and there’s been no mention of it whatsoever. Then all of a sudden Barty drops the bomb that his middle name is actually Bartemius which immediately has Evan reeling for a few moments. Before he can even recover Barty just casually admits that his actual first name is Casper. “What???!!! WHAT DO YOU MEAN?!!!” Evan begins to say, abruptly getting up from the couch. “Are you really trying to tell me that I haven’t known your real name for the past four years we’ve been together?!!” Barty just shrugs, Evan lets out an exasperated sigh. “I don’t like my first name,” Barty replies indifferently. “So I just go by my middle name.” “THAT DOESNT MATTER!” Evan snaps back, taking this more seriously than it actually was. “I haven’t known your full legal name for four years! I’m your boyfriend.” Barty just rolls his eyes. “Mhm. Would a kiss make it better?” Evan’s shoulders slump in resignation. “Yes.”
Lysandra Black (née Yaxley) (b. 10 October 1887 — d. 15 January 1950) was the daughter of Carodista Vlinder and Lysimachus Yaxley. She came from a family deeply associated with the British Ministry of Magic, many of her relatives having served as Aurors or high-ranking Ministry officials. Lysandra had two younger siblings: Lysistratus (b. 1890) and Lymantria (b. 1893).
Yaxley attended Hogwarts between the years of 1898 and 1904, as a member of Ravenclaw House. In her early adulthood, she pursued a career within the Legislative and Judicial branch of wizarding Britain as a Juror on the Wizengamot Council. During this time, Lysandra advocated for the strict blood purity laws, believing that the integrity of the wizarding community depended on its traditional values.
In her late twenties, Lysandra married Arcturus Black (II), a diplomatic and shrewd member of the prestigious Black family. Yaxley’s husband held a position as a lawyer within the Ministry and would often come to the defense of pure-bloods embroiled in legal disputes regarding their persecution against muggles.
Together, the couple had three daughters: Callidora, Cedrella, and Charis. In spite of their bountiful number of three beautiful children, Lysandra and Arcturus would be met with devastation in 1942 when their middle daughter, Cedrella, ran away with blood-traitor, Septimus Weasley. After this tragic misfortune, Mistress Black was keen to erase all traces of Cedrella from the family, even going as far as to suggest that her estranged daughter had died, if only to lessen the aching betrayal she felt in her heart.
In 1950, Lysandra died at age sixty-three as a widow, her mind broken from her constant use of memory charms to extract painful memories of Cedrella. Over the years, the repeated use of these charms took a toll on the elderly witch’s mental state, leading to disorientation and confusion in her old age.
@zhenya-writes helped me write this.
Lysistratus and Lysimachus Yaxley are original characters of @knights-0f-walpurgis. This creator continues to develop their ocs and graciously allowed me to utilize them for my AU.
Side note: Lysistratus used to be a cousin of Lysandra Yaxley, although we’ve changed it so that they are siblings instead.
Charikleia Lysandrina Crouch (b. 10 February 1962) was the daughter of Caspar Crouch Junior and Boudicca Moody. Through Caspar, she is a direct descendant of House Black, as her grandmother was Lady Charis Crouch (née Black). Chariklea's maternal uncle is Alastor Moody, a renowned Auror within the British Ministry of Magic.
thank you to @jegulustragedy for helping me create this character. we’ve made many ocs for the marauders era, but somehow forgot to share them.
Dress designs and ideas for Callidora, Cedrella, and Charis. I headcanon that Cedrella’s designs are inspired by photo numbers two, four, five, and six.
All were young women in the early to mid 1920s, and married though I headcanon Cedrella was the last to marry, which will be explored in later posts.
Black cousins at the Ministry Gala 1938, 2nd of August
From left to right:
Top line: Cassiopeia Black, Dorea Black (future Potter), Charis Crouch neé Black
Bottom line: Lycoris Black, Cedrella Black (future Weasley), Callidora Longbottom neé Black.
Not my picture, it's from pinterest. Not my fancasts, but I just love the vibes this picture is radiating. Plus, the dresses are somewhat historicaly accurate. It's 1950s fashion from what I can tell (I'm not an expert)
«Last time all Black cousins were seen together. Despite the age differences, before that year they were rather close, but after they all walked different paths.»
The very next year (1939) Cedrella will elope with Septimus Weasley and end up burned from the tapestry. Her father Arcturus however, will attend her wedding and gift quite a lot to the newlyweds. Her sister Callidora will never talk to her again, but her sister Charis will stay close, even becoming Arthur Weasley's godmother.
Cedrella will live a life very disconnected with her pre-marriage one, but a happy life nonetheless. Her cousin Dorea and distant niece Lucretia will be with her when she dies in 1979. Charis will not be there only due to her death in 1973.
Lycoris will have a fight with her mother about woman's role, about "not wanting to be a fucking broodmare" as Lycoris herself put it. She would not be disowned, but her relationship with her family will remain cold for the rest of her life, with a few exceptions.
In 1939 Lycoris will open a salon in a house that she bought with her brother Regulus II. It would take a few years, but the "Black Vine Salon" will gain popularity, especially in the potioneer circles. The nature of Lycoris' relationship with one of the salon's visitors, Eustace Prince, are a topic of furious debate among the purebloods.
It's even rumored that Lycoris had a child with Eustace in 1950s. None of the involved give commentary on this.
Callidora will give birth to her second son Albert in 1940. Boy will be, unfortunately, born dead. Broken by the loss, Callidora, along with her husband Harfang Longbottom, will become recluse, growing famous mourning roses in the greenhouses for the rest of their life. Callidora would still keep in touch with her closest cousin Cassiopeia, whom she even named her eldest son after - Cassius Longbottom.
Charis, who lost her daughter Berenice just a few months before, unlike her sister will get more active. Together with her husband Caspar Crouch and Potter family involvement, Charis will shape the future politics of Magical Britain - firmly against Grindelwald's.
Minister for magic of the time, Hector Fawley, did not take Grindelwald's threat to the wizarding world seriously enough and was, as a result, will be forced out from his office by the public. Crouch family will support the next, more proactive Minister, Leonard Spencer-Moon. Rumors often say that Leonard slept with one or both Crouches, but in reality their interest in him was purely political.
Cassiopeia, who never strode far away from the family, will end up in St. Mungo with her mind lost in 1946. Healers would not be able to lift the curse and Cassiopeia will spend the rest of her life in Mungo. Her cousin Callidora and Lady Roanne Lestrange, mother of Rabastan and Rudolphus Lestange, would often visit her there.
Funny enough, several decades later her cousin's grandson Frank Longbottom and his wife Alice will be admitted to the same department with the same symptoms. Only connection between two incidents are the Lestranges' involvement.
Two years from that (1941) Dorea will join the war against Grindelwald, namely the "Resistance", along with her future husband Charlus Potter. As a mental mage, she will be a rather important member of comutications department. She and Charlus will be both present at the series of trials in 1945, all condemning Grindelwald's Acolyts.
However, their and some other Resistance members' involvement in the war will be hidden for the next thirty years due to secrecy protocols. It's theorised that this is because Dorea Potter was a spy in Grindelwalds ranks.
Charis Black was a reserved and somewhat cold woman. She never talked much nor showed too many emotions. Everyone compared her to her father because of that. As she grew she closed up more, specially after her older sister, Cedrella, was disowned for her ideals. Not that she shared them, of course, but she didn't actually know what exactly made her family so upset.
She married Caspar Crouch, one of the possible heirs of the Crouch family, a man with short temper but not enough thought to make anything with it. They had three children: Bartemius Sr., Rosalind and Virgine Crouch. Because of her difficulty to connect emotionally with people she never really had a maternal relationship with them, but she treated them to the best of her abilities.
