Chloe sipped her champagne as she looked around the Waynes' Gala. She spotted many people that were clients of her mother and some that promoted Gabriel. She noticed a few other designers, but the rest of the people…..well, they at least dressed the part. Out of the corner of her eye, she spotted a girl who she could have sworn was Marinette Dupain-Cheng. The girl had darker skin and green eyes, but her face, her eye shape!
Chloe sauntered over and shoved the champagne flute in front of her face.
"Go on." she demanded, "Get me another drink."
The girl looked her up and down.
"You still wear Gabriel?" she questioned, "Ew."
Chloe gasped, "He is an amazing designer!"
"He's an asshole." the girl retorted.
"You better shut your mouth, you Twerp!" Chloe bristled.
"Or what?" the girl commented, "You're gonna tell my mommy about your horrible fashion choices?"
"How dare you!" the Bourgeois heiress cried.
"No. How dare you show up to the Wayne Gala in something that is four seasons old!" the girl claimed.
"I am a Princess and-" Chloe began.
"No." the girl interrupted, "You are the daughter of a hotel owner, who didn't even wear clothes designed by her mother. You decided to wear trash."
Chloe was fuming. She had never been spoken to this way and the face of the girl wasn't helping.
'Her face is irritating! She looks just like Baker Girl when she started pushing back!'
"I am a princess and-" Chloe spoke again.
"I'm a princess." the girl declared, "Technically, after Great-Grandfather and Grandma passed way, Daddy became King. I'm a princess; you're playing dress up."
Chloe scowled, "You little-"
"Princess Amaya Wayne, lovely to see you again." a voice called out.
"King Ali of Achu." Amaya curtsied, focusing her attention on him.
Chloe closed her mouth and focused on the interaction in front of her.
'The Waynes have royalty in their blood and this….brat is actually a princess?'
"I'm very sorry, Ms. Bourgeois, but I must get going. My family will be summoning me soon." Amaya smiled, "King Ali, why don't you accompany me? I'm sure Father would love to discuss the next fundraiser for the children's hospital."
"Of course." the king answered.
The hotel owner fumed as they walked away. She lost sight of them in the crowd; Ali had never forgiven her for that fish-smell fiasco when they were younger. Chloe had to see for herself if the girl who humilated her was actually a Wayne. She followed them from a distance and tried to blend in with other girls nearby. She was too focused on Amaya to notice the judged looks thrown her way, as she tried to incorporate herself into their circle talks.
Sure enough, King Ali walked Amaya up to Bruce Wayne and someone else. Chloe couldn't make out who the guy was, but she heard the King of Achu refer to him as Damian. Amaya hugged Bruce and call him 'Grandfather', before he was asked to answer some questions for the Daily Planet.
'She's actually a Wayne!'
Bruce excused himself and the hotel owner was able to get a clearer view of the guy. He looked exactly like Bruce, but his complexion was similar to the kings' and he had green eyes.
"Why don't we continue this conversation tomorrow, Your Highness?" Damian spoke, "There are some things I want to go over without prying eyes or ears."
The King nodded and walked off.
"Have you seen your mother, Amaya?" Damian questioned.
"I believe she is with Uncle and people watching, as usual." she smiled, "She does love to look at everyone's outfits."
Out of the corner of her eye, Chloe spotted a familiar head of blonde hair. As Adrien walked out of the crown, Chloe scowled as she noticed his companion: Marinette Dupain-Cheng. Chloe dropped her glass as Marinette Dupain-Cheng walked over and kissed Damian Wayne.
"Mother." Amaya smiled, before hugging Marinette.
'Baker Girl; she married into the Wayne family! How did she manage to weasel her was into a family with royal blood?'
Chloe stomped and politely shoved her way through the crowd towards the stage. She couldn't believe that she saw that brat was hugging her Adrikins, after she disgraced the Gabriel name!
"You look lovely as always, Amaya." Adrien complimented, "You definetly get your beauty from your mother."
Amaya smiled, "Thank you, Uncle Adrien."
"Don't act high and mighty!" Chloe demanded, "You were just trash talking his father a few minutes ago!"
"Chloe." Marinette spoke.
"Baker Girl." the hotel owner sneered back.
Adrien and Damian were quick to push the girls behind them.
"So what?" Adrien asked, "Who cares if my niece talks shit about Gabriel?"
Chloe looked at him in shock, "But you-"
"Left his place and company when I was eighteen and I never looked back." Adrien declared, "I hated being a model and everything that came with it. The rules, the photoshoots, the diet, the loneliness, that stupid schedule pack dictating when I woke up, went to bed! I couldn't even hang out with my frineds!"
"But we're suppose to run an empire together!" Chloe shouted back.
"Is this some bullshit my father told you?" the former model questioned, "The last time I saw him was twelve years ago and the last time I spoke to him on the phone, was eight. I don't know what he told you, but I never wanted to own Gabriel. I can't draw to save my life; I never want to model again. I don't know what you would do, but it's certainly not draw."
"I can draw!" the hotel owner shouted.
Adrien smiled, "Really? Anytime there was a competition, you tried to steal Marinette's sketches and frame her. You have never put in any effort to practice drawing. I never even saw you take fashion classes. You just decided since your mommy was a fashion designer, you would be too. Audrey probably des more in a day, then you do in a week!"
Chloe could feel the promises she was fed start to crumble. Gabriel had told her that once Adrien was done with his vacation, they would run the company. Adrien was telling her that was never going to happen. She had been waiting for the da when she didn't need to watch over the hotle anymore. It was annoying having to serve others and make sure their needs were met. What about her needs? She wanted a trip to Cancun! She wanted to sail the Caribbean! She wanted to sleep past six am!
She snarled, "What about Baker Girl, huh? You seriously expect-"
Damian was quick to get in her face, "Call my wife that again and you'll be thrown out on the street."
"She is-" Chloe faltered
"My wife is a fashion designer." Damian stated proudly, "Number one in the country and number three internationally."
"Hah!" Chloe smiled, thinking she had caught them in a lie, "Zahr is-"
"My wife." Damian replied, wrapping his arm around Marinette's waist, "She makes all designs and has total control of her own design company. It's not even associated with Wayne Enterprise."
Amaya laughed "She's just sore that her gown is horrible."
"Amaya!" scolded Marinette.
"It's true." Amaya declared, "She tries to act big, but that spray painted gold just screams 'Look At Me; I Deserve Attention'!"
Adrien began to laugh since Chloe had been wearing the same color scheme since they were toddlers. Her attitude certainly hadn't changed. Damian just smirked at his daughter's decleration.
"And what is with that horrible blue eyeshadow?" the Wayne heiress continued, "No one wears eyeshadow that blue; it's outdated. It doesn't even match your dress or skin tone. If anything it makes you look a bloated fish. Why on Earth would you wear a nude lip shade of color? Even in the 50's, when they did use that shade, at least they had red lips."
Chloe's jaw dropped. Never had she imagined a child would tell her off for how she dressed. Out of the corner of her eye, she could see Marinette biting her lip and could see Adrien laughing himself to tears.
"Yep." Adrien cried, "Tha-That's definetly your kid, Damian."
Mari sighed, "Is Yami and Malik gonna be the same way?"
"You do love honesty, Habibiti." Damian pointed out.
His wife groaned, "I'm gonna get so many phone calls when the twins go to school."
Chloe scowled and began to stomp away. She couldn't believe that someone who was related to bakers talked to her like that. The trash that came out of that girl's mouth left her fuming!
"Good." Amaya called out, enough for Chloe to hear, "Grandma is leaving. My eyes were starting to hurt, just from looking at her. Thankfully, the galas are at night. If we had it during the day, we'd have a disco ball on the floor with all that metallic strips sewn in."
Chloe could hear the baker's daughter snort, before laughing along side her Adrien.
"Amaya, you know how much your grandfather cares about appearances at these." Damian stated, causing his daughter to sigh, "Grounded for a week."
"Yes, Baba." Amaya spoke, "I only did it to get back at her for being a bully to Maman, when she was my age."
Mari kissed her daughter's head, "As long as you're not like this at school."
"Never, Maman." their daughter answered.
"Come along, Amiriti (Princess)." Damian spoke, "Let's go find your grandfather."
Chloe looked back to see the baker's daughter on her husband's arm. Adrien and her bratty daughter were right behind them, talking and laughing. Chloe had never felt so humiliated before.
'Ridiculous. Utterly ridiculous!'
Nothing was like how it was before when they were all in Francois Dupont College. She was no longer the Mayor's Daughter. Her father had moved to NYC with her mother, after high school. She had taken over as the owner of the hotel. Chloe had tried to use the same control she had in school to dictate the hotel's conditions and staff, but it failed miserably. People started to leave bad reviews of the hotel; some of the staff quit. When her father had heard about it, he offered to come back for a few months to show her how to run it properly; she had hung up on him.
Chloe Bourgeois couldn't believe that promises she had overheard as a child were over. She was suppose to marry Adrien Agreste; he was her Adrikins!
'I never should have helped him runaway from home to get into school!'
Chloe knew that was the moment everything changed in their realtionship. Everyone had turned him against her! He started speaking up more, defending others from her, and calling her a bad friend. She had hoped that one he finished 'exploring' that his new habit would be broken and they would get married after university. She had never even looked at another guy so when she found out that he had quit modeling, she thought he was getting ready to take over the company and propose. The proposal never came and Adrien had left Paris, without a word.
'It was all Baker Girl's fault! She ruined my Adrikins! Her Adrikins never behaved like this 'til he met her!'
She continued to glare at Marinette. She hated how Marinette was now rich, even richer than her. Marinette always got what she never had; a loving home, parents who cared about her, and now a husband and family. Chloe refused to believe she was jealous.
'I deserve more! I deserve my happily ever after with My Prince!'
Chloe turned her gaze to Adrien and she felt her heart stop. Adrien was on his tip-toes, kissing some guy taller than him. To add insult to injury, he looked just like Marinette. He had dark hair and blue eyes. Adrien Agreste had always been her dream Prince Charming, but she wasn't his Princess. Apparently, Adrien Agreste was the princess.
Chloe walked away as she heard Amaya ask if Uncle Adrien and Uncle Jon were excited for their wedding next month.
I have probably said it before but I haven't watch MLB except for a few episodes and I basically looked at the wiki for the plot of origins. But whatever, Hope you like it.
[Masterlist]
(Part 1)(Part 2)(Part 4)
----
Because Marinette has John Constantine as a father. She might retaliate against Chloe in more….magical ways.
John brings Marinette over to his house to tutor her in magic more safely in a place more equipped to handle stray spells.
And said house is full of books filled with magic spells and some of them are exclusively filled with curses.
If a 9-year-old Marinette happened to go home one day with a book that was definitely off-limits to her. Her father doesn’t have to know.
Well, it’s just a coincidence that Chloe was unable to talk for a whole day because she could only ribbit like a frog.
And that she had a very nasty rash afterwards that made her absent for over a week.
And she somehow had her hair in a horrible shade of purple that was such an eyesore that made her too ashamed to come out of her room.
It was also a big coincidence that Chloe suffered from those bad things after she bullied Marinette and made other kids cry.
------
Sabine while talking to John about something on the phone one day, “I know I agreed to let you teach Marinette to protect herself but were the curses really necessary?”
John was confused and a horrible niggling feeling started in the back of his head. “Curses? Like what?”
“There is this mean girl in her class. Teachers let her get away with bullying because her father is the new mayor. Making people have lumps all over their body like a bubonic plague victim got to be one of your magic tricks. I appreciate you looking out for her like that but you have to tell me about things like this beforehand.”
“Sabine, darling, can you hold on for a few minutes? I need to check something.”
“What? John! Don’t you dare hang up on me! I just want some answers.”
A few minutes later….
There were a few swears heard on the other end before John came back. “Oh Bollocks!”
“Sabine, if I didn’t believe you then, I believe you now. Marinette is definitely my daughter.”
“Okay, what happened John?”
“Well, it looks like one of my books has been replaced with…’The Witches’ by Ronald Dahl. I don’t know whether to be angry or proud.”
“Is it dangerous?”
“The one about Witches. It is a classic, Mr Dahl nearly got it right except for the money thing, witches actually make diamonds and other gems and sell them off instead. The book of Hecate? It would be best if I took it off your hands before one of those spells backfires badly.”
----
Marinette was grounded but she somehow got her parents to agree to let her learn curses. She can only cast them at most five times a year so she had to make them count. (Sabine shouldn’t really encourage this behaviour but Chloe had made Marinette miserable and that school lets her get away with bullying other children. And because of Chloe’s father, they can’t do anything much. This might teach that awful girl a lesson or two.)
Chloe suspected that Marinette was behind the bad things happening.
No. Chloe knew for a fact that Marinette was behind the bad things happening to her.
After nearly everyone left the class except for Marinette, Chloe walked up to Marinette and did her usual mocking and how superior she was.
Instead of the expected reaction of tears, the ravenette simply looked at her straight in the eyes and chanted ominously in a foreign language.
Chloe at first rolled her eyes and commented that she was a freak until light shone from Marinette’s hands and Chloe began to glow but not in a good way.
“What did you do?!” Chloe shrieked, struggling to move.
Marinette after the spell was done, held up a mirror and Chloe saw that she had fur all over her body and she looked like a monkey. She screamed.
She felt something moving from her butt and turned around to see a tail sticking out of her skirt.
Chloe screamed again and fainted on the spot.
Marinette used an invisibility charm and got out of the classroom as the teachers came in to see the source of the screaming.(CCTV just showed Chloe being alone in the class with Marinette being the last one to leave. She tried very hard not to laugh when they questioned her.)
The doctors couldn’t figure out how Chloe ended up like that and every time she shaved the fur off, it grew back the next morning. They discuss surgically removing the tail to which Chloe paled although it was hard to tell with the fur.
Chloe didn’t leave her room until Sabine told Marinette to lift the curse when she found out about it. Which was two weeks after the incident.
During that time, Chloe plotted revenge.
First day back, Chloe stomped up on Marinette and began accusing her of turning her into that monstrosity and she will pay for it.
Marinette simply rolled her eyes to the back of her head so the whites of her eyes were shown which John had taught her how to do for funsies and began chanting in that unknown language. (Which was actually the recipe for her family’s famous cupcakes in Latin. She only had 2 chances left for curses and was going to save them.)
Chloe freaked out and she scrambled away from Marinette as far as she could, calling her a freak and a monster along the way.
“I prefer to be called Enchantress.” Marinette shouted after her good-naturally, her eyes back to normal.
The entire courtyard was silent before cheering. Congratulating the pig-tailed girl on defeating the wicked witch of the west.
Kim being a drama queen and kneeling before Marinette, “O Enchantress, you protect us from the wicked witch. We are forever in your debt.”
“Rise and live out your lives free from her ugly eyeshadow and terrible colour scheme.”
Chloe tried many different tactics to make other people believe that Marinette had magic and was putting curses on her.
Mme Bustier lectured Marinette about being the perfect example and to stop with the magic curses.
Marinette, not agreeing with the bullshit philosophy and being a Constantine, meaning she treats the rules as more of a guideline, cursed her teacher to have bad luck for a while.
(Sabine was at first angry that Marinette cursed her teacher until she found out about forgiving others' philosophy that Bustier tried to force on Marinette even though Marinette didn’t do anything wrong and Chloe had insulted Marinette’s heritage.)
Marinette, being a little petty, entered the school talent show and did non-magical magic tricks, lessons courtesy of Aunty Z (Zatanna) and looked straight into Bustier’s eyes as she announced what she was going to do.
This all results in Chloe less likely to pick on Marinette and try to stay out of her bad side as much as possible. Picking on other kids also results in curses so she is much less of a bully.
Chloe still thinks that everyone is beneath her but she doesn’t try to cause trouble as much for fear of retaliation.
She does actively try to prove that Marinette was the one putting curses on her which mainly backfires because everyone thinks it’s cool and Marinette is magic confirmed after placing first in the talent show. (John was there with Zatanna to see the efforts of her lessons and looked like a proud parent the entire time.)
Bustier doesn’t push Marinette to be the perfect example anymore but deeming her as a problem child and giving her detentions for it.
Tom and Sabine got the school board involved who were upset at Bustier for giving detention to a student who wasn’t even causing trouble in class except for entertaining her classmates with ‘magic’ tricks during lunch.
She was reprimanded and had to attend a few training courses and seminars.
Chloe gets away with less things afterwards. Mayor’s daughter or not
-----
When Adrien and Alya came into the picture, things were more different.
Marinette’s first day of school, happened like in canon.
Except Alya walked in on Marinette was arguing with Chloe about her seat and Marinette began chanting in Sumerian, causing Chloe to scream in horror and calling for Sabrina to stop her. Alya thought that was cool and wanted to befriend this awesome quirky girl with pigtails.
Marinette thought that the new girl would make a nice friend with how she backed Marinette against Chloe. She might have to be more careful of her things when letting Alya over.
Stoneheart still happened except Marinette’s first reaction to Tikki was a little different.
Marinette called her dad because the stone monster thing that was once Ivan had a hint of magic and she didn’t know what it was and how to fix it.
She told John about the Stoneheart before noticing a black box on her desk.
She didn’t have this box in her room before and someone managed to get through her wards to put it there so she was very suspicious of it. (Master Fu didn’t take note of the small shock when he went through the invisible barrier. Wyazz on the other hand was curious at the magical protection surrounding the new Ladybug but kept his observation to himself.)
“Dad, you didn’t happen to come into my room while I was at school, did you?”
“No, why?”
“There is a strange box on my desk that wasn’t there before. I am going to open it.”
“Don’t open it until I get there-”
She cautiously opened it, a spell on her lips when there was a flash of light.
“Hello, Marinette. I am Tikki and you are going to be a super-”
Tikki didn’t manage to finish her sentence before being trapped in a magic cage that resembles a crystal.
“Hello, sweetheart, Mari, darling you there?” John’s worried voice came from the phone speaker.
“Yeah, there is a floating red bug mouse thing called Tikki trapped in my room. How fast can you get here?” Marinette replied.
“It will take a few days to tie up some loose ends, after that I will be taking the next flight to Paris.”
Tikki giggled, “I am not a bug mouse. I am a kwami and I give you superpowers to be a hero.”
Marinette gave her an incredulous look, “You are joking, right?”
“A Kwami? Haven’t heard that in a while. What is a powerful magical artifact doing in the hands of my little girl?” John was very surprised and curious. He was also worried because they were only in use when the world needed it most.
“I don’t have time to explain but Marinette was chosen for the task. There is an akuma loose in Paris. It’s the stone monster you saw earlier. Marinette, you need to put on the earrings and transform.” Tikki quickly filled in her powers and what she can do.
“And this is important. No one can know about your identity.”
“Too late for that. My dad knows.”
“Your dad is that strange talking metal tablet?”
“What? No. Don’t you know what a phone is? You know what. I will explain later. Tikki, spots on.”
Her costume is more like a black bodysuit worn under a red coat with a black hood, buttoned up with black buttons and strategically placed black dots that wasn’t an eyesore to her designer senses. Instead of a domino mask she wears an all black one that covers her head with white lenses to show where her eyes are. Think Spider-Gwen from the Spider-Verse style except that the hood is part of the coat. (Okay, it sounds like the Sparrow's suit now that I think about it. But *throws canon out the window into a burning pit* Let's continue.)
------
Marinette slumped on her chair, exhausted.
Apparently, she had a partner. Chat Noir was a little over the top and not properly informed or trained for what they are up against. She might have to talk to him about it later.
She looked at the black butterfly fluttering around in the jar with trap wards carved into it. Marinette wanted to keep it and study it
Tikki told her to purify it with her yo-yo like it was something that made sense. But when it comes to Magic, everything and nothing does.
Right now, she was catching Tikki up on what has changed since the last time she was out.
Tikki was a little worried about her dad knowing about Ladybug. But Marinette assured that her father was good at keeping secrets and he isn’t in Paris all the time so there are less chances of him getting akumatized.
Apparently there is an idiot with a powerful magic brooch loose in Paris and is responsible for turning Ivan into that Stoneheart thing. And the city of Love is going to see more of these attacks often.
Boy, was her dad going to love this.
------
Marinette goes to school the next day while she is there, the butterfly somehow manages to escape.
She meets Adrien and upon feeling his destructive aura which surrounds him like she saw on Chat Noir yesterday. She tried not to groan at the fact that Chloe’s friend is apparently her partner and she doesn’t want to put her life in the hands of someone who is going to ‘torment’ her in her civilian life.
She wonders how he even got chosen as Chat Noir and be trusted with something as powerful as the embodiment of destruction.
She is going to have a talk with Tikki to find this mysterious person that ‘chose’ her and she was going to give them a piece of her mind when she finds them.
------- Time skip -----
Turns out the idiot with the powerful magic artifact is a dramatic bitch that chose the name ‘Hawkmoth’ who wanted her earrings and Chat Noir’s ring.
She was also going to have to find better entrapping spells.
Another thing is that Chloe’s friend is not as mean as she is. So one less thing to be worried about. A bit too trusting and naive for her taste.
No crush because this Marinette is much more cynical. ( It’s obvious that he wears a mask to school and this boy was given the miraculous of destruction for a reason. She tries to find out why, resulting in Alya thinking she has a crush.)
Adrien is tired of the Ladyblog "slandering" Chat Noir. He's tired of being called out for his behavior, even if people don't realize they're calling him out to his face when they're complaining about Chat Noir to him. He’s tired of having to sit there and pretend like he doesn’t hate them and every word they’re saying.
He's sick and tired of hearing people moaning and complaining about how horrible he is.
He's tired of having to face consequences for his actions.
That is not why he signed up to become a superhero.
So he goes to Chloe. And persuades her that it's in her best interest if her father takes down the Ladyblog. He spins some story about how the blog is 'stealing' viewers from the 'real' news, and how the Mayor's office should be in charge of disseminating the facts anyways, not some random teenager with no training and a smartphone.
It helps that the Ladyblog has never been kind to Queen Bee. No one has forgotten or forgiven her purposefully crashing a train, no matter how many excuses and lies she comes up with to try and cover her ass.
It also doesn’t help that Alya constantly talks about how Chloé acts at school, and has several personal accounts written by classmates talking about Chloé’s cruelty. They want people to know who Queen Bee, the self-proclaimed hero, really is, to combat the propaganda coming out of the Mayor’s office.
Alya and the Ladyblog are committed to telling the truth, even when the truth isn’t pretty.
And the truth when it comes to Chat Noir and Queen Bee? Is never pretty.
Chloé probably would have come up with the idea herself given enough time. She agrees immediately.
It doesn't take much to convince her father.
He does anything she wants.
Anything she asks.
He doesn't care about things like justice or truth.
He’s determined to take down the Ladyblog, to protect his daughter’s precious reputation, and to restore Paris’ trust in its officials.
He begins this campaign by sending a squad of police to Alya's house to confiscate her phone and computer.
They practically bust the door down before she can even answer their knocking, demanding she delete the blog and hand over all her collected videos and photographs. They’ve shoved their way into the house before she can do anything.
Marinette happened to be on her way over, heard the commotion, and transformed into Ladybug to defend Alya.
It's not the first time Ladybug has fought the police, but it's the first time the confrontation is live-streaming directly to the Ladyblog.
Marinette successfully drives the police away, pushing them further and further back, shouting at them that they have to realize that what they’re doing is wrong, that they need to stop, that this is why people don’t trust them, and can’t they see that what they’re doing is wrong? How can they justify their behavior? How can they sleep at night?
But they won’t give up.
She finally has to knock them all unconcious, with the consolation that her Miraculous Ladybugs will heal the brain damage later. Although at that point she wouldn’t be too upset if they didn’t.
Maybe she won’t cast Miraculous Ladybug just this once.
Chat Noir shows up after she’s tied up all the cops, pretending to be confused, acting like he’s trying to figure out where the Akuma is, pretending to be shocked that she attacked the police, pretending to be horrified.
He tries his whole “be the better person” schtick, but Marinette and Alya are both near tears from fear and rage, and he’s shut down immediately.
He gives up the argument quickly, not wanting to make himself look worse in front of the whole reason this is happening to begin with.
He puts on a show of ‘making sure his lady and her friend are okay’, and takes his leave.
He detransforms when he gets home, and waits for Chloé’s call.
It doesn’t take long. She calls him to complain about how useless the police are, that they couldn’t even manage to shut down one measly blog run by a loser.
He listens sympathetically, and then offers a few pointers for her to pass along to her father…
The next time there’s an assault on Alya and the Ladyblog, it’s a city-wide ban on photographing or recording Ladybug, Chat Noir, or any of the Akuma victims. The justification? Protecting the privacy of the heroes and the victims of Hawkmoth.
It doesn’t matter that Ladybug immediately speaks out against it, citing the many interviews she’s willingly given, or the fact that the Ladyblog always blurs out the Akuma victims unless they specify otherwise. It doesn’t matter that the Ladyblog is one of the most reliable sources of information on Akuma or Hawkmoth’s tactics, or the fact that the live-streams are one of the only reasons people are able to get to safety during attacks. The Mayor’s stance is firm.
And the worst part? Chat Noir AGREES with the verdict. He EVEN APPEARS in an interview WITH THE MAYOR, supporting him! Saying things like how he feels like his privacy is being invaded, knowing that every word he says and everything he does is being recorded for everyone to see. It makes him nervous, he claims, makes him make more mistakes, makes him act out in ways he regrets.
It doesn’t take a genius to figure out that he’s blaming everyone else for his own behavior. It really isn’t difficult to figure out that somehow, Chat Noir is the one behind this whole thing to begin with. No one knows how, but they why is sitting there right before their eyes, smug and condescending as he declares that keeping Ladybug and Chat Noir out of the public’s eye is what’s best for everyone.
And it only gets worse from there. The Mayor’s corruption gets worse, gets more and more blatant, and Adrien’s behavior follows suit. Every new restriction put upon witnesses to the battles increases his ability to be monstrous.
And with the public’s rage against their Mayor and so-called hero Chat Noir growing by the day, Hawkmoth has more and more opportunities to Akumatize victims. And with the Mayor’s forces doing everything they can to disrupt attempts to record Akuma battles in any way, more people are dying and being injured in each attack.
And even though the Miraculous Ladybugs can bring people back from the dead and heal their injuries, it doesn’t erase the memories. It doesn’t heal the trauma. And with more and more people dealing with trauma, more and more victims are available, and with more victims comes more trauma, and it keeps getting worse and worse.
Until the day the riots start.
And they don’t stop until the Mayor is dead and his office destroyed, and though Chat Noir is smart enough not to show his face, the moment he does, the mobs will be coming for him. No one is blind to the way he’s treated Ladybug, and they’re no longer willing to sit idly by while those with power abuse them and the people who stand up for them.
It started off as a ploy to stop the bad press against Chat Noir and Queen Bee, and it ends with a revolution.
Because there’s one thing that the rich hate, and there’s one thing that unites good people.
Would anybody be interested in a fanfic where Marinette just breaks? Like where she doesn’t care anymore and just lets herself be manipulated by the people around her. It could be Chloe or Lila. Or maybe even the whole class because they’ve always secretly hated how successful Marinette got. Like they they manipulate Marinette into thinking that she needs them and that it’s normal for her to always do what they want her to do.
At first, Marinette’s only escape could be Ladybug but it soon becomes bad for her too because of Chat Noir. Or this could just be a no miraculous AU.
The ending could either be that Marinate realizes that what her “friends” are doing is wrong or it could just be full on angsty and she just keeps doing what they want her to do.
Some of the pranks mentioned are inspired by the parent trap
The class is going camping!
Chloe complains but Sabrina brought an even bigger suitcase than the one in Startrain to accommodate her wants.
Adrien is excited.
Lila boasts about all the times she went camping with celebrities and disabilities.
These are the classmates who have gone camping before: Kim, Alix, Alya, Nino, Lila, Mylene + Ivan, and Marinette (thanks to Gina)
Since Marinette is the class representative, she helps Ms Bustier direct the class for their activities.
Everyone is surprised by how fast Marinette sets up her tent.
Nathaniel wishes he could draw wildlife but is resigned to sketching motionless flowers and trees.
Adrien applies plenty of sunscreen and bug spray. So does Chloe.
For some reason, Marinette thrives in the wild. Really the plants are reacting to Tikki’s presence. But the animals love Marinette.
First butterflies keep landing on her.
Then birds.
And why is a bear cuddling up to her when the rest of her class have climbed trees?
Even when Lila/Chloe switches her insect repellent for sugar and water, the insects don’t bite the sweet girl.
Adrien: you’re like a princess. Animals just love you.
Marinette blushes.
Seriously...no matter what the bullies do to sabotage Marinette, the animals just help her out.
Chloe sneaks rocks into Marinette’s bag.
A stag helps the tired girl carry the bag and another even gives her a lift.
Chloe dumps her yucky peasant food all over Marinette. But then bees actually offer her a piece of honeycomb to console the poor girl. Total insult to Chloe’s face. Bees were her thing. There is also some injury when the bees sting Chloe for yelling at them for their disloyalty.
Lila tries to claim that a snake bit her and blamed Marinette. Yeah that wasn’t a snake bite as Mylene points out. But some cute squirrel decided to hide shredded poison ivy leaves in Lila’s clothes. To protect the rest of her students, Caline asks Lila to walk with her, separate from the class while Marinette leads them onward.
In comparison, animals give Adrien a wide berth. Except maybe a wild mountain lion who keeps curling around Adrien’s feet. It went away once Adrien brought out the cheese however to feed Plagg his dinner.
At night, the class stargazed with nightingales to serenade them. Due to the mountain lion around Adrien, only Marinette could sit next to him. Alya comments that even Mother Nature ships them.
When sleeping at night, a beautiful fox joins Marinette and Alya. They aren’t going to complain when this creature has such soft fur.
The fox makes a ruckus when a certain bully tries to sneak in.
In the morning, larks sing a morning wake up call, and Marinette finds the animals have gathered forest berries and nuts for her to eat. It’s really sweet but still weird.
Before noon, the class heads back to the bus, most of them happy with their camping experience, with the exception of an itchy liar and stung snob.
Clearly regarding the Miracle Queen incident. Caline could see the class arguing about it and decided to channel the dissent into something more controlled.
Chloe is currently in custody, awaiting trial.
Defending Chloe is Adrien, Lila (duh, she’s an accomplice too), and Sabrina.
Against Chloe is Marinette, Alya, and Nino. (Yeah, DJwifi are not happy their identifies are exposed, and their families at risk)
Adrien took the lead. Clearly Lila and Sabrina wanted him to disable Marinette’s defence.
Alya suspected that would happen too and insisted Marinette be the last to speak. Just so she can give her mind time to focus. Not to mention, once Marinette saw Lila give her statement, her inexplicable dislike for the Italian would hopefully distract her from her crush.
I’ll leave it up to you whether Marinette’s crush would have disarmed her poise. But for now, let the debate commence!
Adrien: Chloe has had a hard life (cue scoffs. Chloe has been an over privileged, spoilt bully) and she let those tough times and lessons influence her way of life. Chloe wanted to be exceptional, like her Mother. Being a superhero gave her that outlet. Having it taken away from her was hard, especially since people knew her true identity. Hawkmoth took advantage of her vulnerability and sought to turn her to his side. She was being emotionally manipulated. Right now, she is still misguided, but we need to be there for her and show her the right way. We need to show her she isn’t alone.
Alya: Chloe wasn’t superhero material. Everyone knows how she tried to keep the miraculous despite Ladybug demanding it back. She staged a dangerous disaster for publicity, has no concept for subtlety, and clearly does not understand the dangers of her parents being targets because of her blown identity. Ladybug has repeatedly refused to give Chloe a Miraculous ever since Heroes Day. Chloe just can’t accept that because she has never been denied anything in her life. Now that she had been denied, she lashed out and joined up with Hawkmoth. When a child does something naughty, she is punished so she knows not to do it again. Right now, Chloe has committed a major crime knowingly. She needs to learn there are consequences of her actions and that life does not revolve around her. Chloe is a bad seed, one that her parents have watered. It’s time we (the people of Paris) fix their mistakes.
Lila: I am new here and I know that Chloe is not the nicest person. But she is still a girl. While Chloe may have worked willingly Hawkmoth, I don’t think she fully understood what she was doing. She was just focused on her own negative emotions and Hawkmoth probably seemed to be the only person on her side regarding how she had been ‘wronged’. We have all been akumatized. We know how persuasive he can be. We had agreed to become akumatized. How much different are we from her Miracle Queen episode? Her life has already been shattered. The public hates her now. Hasn’t she been punished enough?
Nino: the thing is, we were unaware as akumas. And any damage done was fixed by Ladybug. Not so for Miracle Queen. She was undoubtedly coherent. And the audio cameras all could hear that ego plan of hers to rule the world and her jumping about to catch the akuma. She showed no regret for her time as an akuma, like everyone else. And because of Chloe, the hero team is compromised. Hawkmoth has new targets, Ladybug has to train a new squad while he grows more powerful, and Ladybug is also given more burdens as a Guardian. Justice has to be given for these people. It is what they are due. As for public hate, honestly Chloe already should be used to that. She made herself enemies with her selfish and mean attitude, at school and on the air when she sabotaged the train. She learned from her Mother how to handle hate, and clearly that is partly why her attitude hasn’t changed. She has to know she isn’t well-liked by most Parisians. But does she change her attitude for the better? No.
Sabrina: I have been Chloe’s Best Friend for a long time. I know what people say about me. That i am an errand girl for her, not a Best Friend. But I’ve seen Chloe. She may look prickly on the outside, but she does has a heart. She cares for those people she loves, even if it’s not obvious. And that’s why I’m one of the few people who actually know her and why she is worth defending. Chloe plays the mean girl to protect herself. She idolizes her mother and learned from Audrey how to behave if she wanted to be above everyone else. To them, you are either a shark or shark bait. When Chloe was told she couldn’t be Queen Bee anymore, she could sense herself becoming shark bait. People would criticise and mock her for being a failed hero has-been. She defended herself the only way she knew how. By teaming up with the biggest baddie of them all. Now Chloe has been outed as an accomplice and people are tearing into her for being an evil sidekick. Chloe will just snap back and won’t apologize for any of it. To her apology is weakness and she will never show weakness to anybody. That’s why punishing her isn’t going to help her. She will just grow more hateful and mean to protect herself.
Marinette: We all know Chloe was aware of her actions. We all know how she managed to sting everybody but the villains and Ladybug and Chat Noir. Even her parents were no exception. Chloe herself stated she doesn’t love anyone. All Heart Eater could find was love for herself. Love is a tricky thing. Some say if you love someone, you want to spare them of any punishment. Some say if you love someone, you want them to do the right thing and face justice. But this goes beyond personal feelings, loyalties and vendetta. Chloe has proven herself willing to work with Hawkmoth just to get what she wants. She is willing to do anything to achieve her goal, whether hypnotizing citizens or even letting an old man be pummelled. Her actions can’t go on like this. They need to be stopped once and for all. And that is why she had to be punished. Anyone defending Chloe are just enabling her, they are not really doing anything to try to correct her attitude.
Marinette does feel bad about going against Adrien. But hey, she is already trying to let him go. Besides, she had already decided to stand witness against Chloe in court, with or without Chat’s approval. Her partner had been sympathetic to Chloe’s plight. But enough was enough. Marinette had let Chloe and Lila get away because of Adrien. And look where that had gotten her? It was enough. Marinette was done letting her heart decide justice for her.
One month later, Chloe has been tried and sentenced to juvie outside Parisian borders. She has also been given a heavy fine to compensate the undisclosed identities Ladybug’s superhero team. (Yeah...good luck explaining to their families where they got the windfall).
As Ladybug and Chat watched Chloe leave Paris via train, with police escorts, she can’t help but sigh. Some justice had been dealt for Marianne and Master Fu, and it was time to let go of any resentment or blame Marinette had toward Chloe. She needed to move on.
Ladybug also took Alya aside and warned her that Lila had never been her Friend. She gave her a chance to stop lying but clearly that hadn’t worked.
