Being disabled and having missed a lot of school despite being in honors classes I usually feel behind my peers. It takes me longer to learn a concept (since my foundation was disrupted), it takes me longer to memorize (since my epilepsy likes to fuck with my brain), and in a STEM major that's hard. I often don't understand lectures so I've stopped trying, and have to rely on tutoring and teaching myself. It gives me a lot of anxiety and insecurity.
So when teachers say things like "You're smart people, you should understand this" It makes me feel more abnormal, and more stupid. T
There's one particular teacher who's like that so this is an average conversation between my friend and I during his Zoom class.
I kind of want to start some sort of disability culture club at school, but does anyone have any ideas of activities you would like to do?
Tbh with my few irl disabled friends we just talk shit. And idk how well "talking shit" will look on club forms.
Random annoying thing about having a million medical issues: getting the goddamn flu. So normal, right? No! All your conditions are now on hyperdrive and you feeling like you can't movie.
"Oh you JUST have the flu"
