I was pretty convinced that after 5 weeks of strict keto that I had to be fat adapted. I’m not 100% sure what that even means, but my understanding is that when you’re fat adapted your body is running on fat as it’s primary energy source and so you’re way less likely to get thrown out of ketosis, have more stable energy, and are able to fast without getting hangry. There’s a whole bunch of perks other people report, but that at least is my understanding.
So I’m not sure what happened today, but whatever the reason I found myself constantly starving. It started at work around noon. I was so hungry and even after a pretty usual lunch I was still not full. I had a couple snacks, but by the time 4pm came around I felt completely wretched. Nausea, headache, yawning.
So I mustered up some stamina and bought two rotisserie chickens and had a keto feast.
Rotiserre chicken covered in melted butter
shredded cheese baked into chips dipped in sour cream
A spoonful of peanut butter
What had to be 500 calories of heavy cream straight from the carton
Im calling today’s calories a wash because idk when you feel like your dying I think you can eat whatever you want. So even though I probably ate like a 2000 calorie dinner, at least it was still keto foods. And I kinda just ate whatever sounded good and it really seems like it was salt and fat I was craving. So maybe this means I’m fat adapted and need to be eating more fat? Maybe the workout was just really grueling and my body needed more fuel then I was giving it? I’m not really sure what’s up, but I really want to make sure I never feel this way again.
