So I’ve decided to write my evaluation essay in my composition class about Love Simon, so I’ve decided to rewatch it (again) for research for my paper.

And I’ve been wanting to make a post/thread of things I really love/find funny about the movie, so here goes:

1) when Mr Worth is talking to Simon about play practice and Ms Albright after he takes his phone, and Simon says “she doesn’t like men” 😂

2) the way his mom says “oh shit” when Simon tells her the sign says ‘patriachy’ instead of patriarchy

Not something I like/find funny, but literally every single scene with M*rtin just makes me so frustrated 😡

3) when Leah asks Simon if inviting M*rtin is a make a wish situation 😂

4) again with M*rtin, he makes Abby so uncomfortable that when he shows up for the Halloween party, she pulls down her shorts to make them longer

5) I ABSOLUTELY LOVE BRAM’S POST PRESIDENCY OBAMA COSTUME (and all their interactions at the party)

6) Simon’s “I know just tie me up with that thing” about Abby’s lasso, like Simon stop trying to be straight 😂

7) the way drunk Abby like “head bangs” along to Simon’s karaoke singing

8) his whole dream/desire to stay in the closet rn and then be more gay in college, that’s so true and basically what I’ve done

9) I WANT TO TEAR MY EYES OUT BECAUSE OF THE WAFFLE HOUSE SCENE

10) I kind of wish Strawberries & Cigarettes got a better/more song inclusive scene, although I love the scene it is put with

11) I love the way Abby teaches Simon (and that’s See-mon) to say fiiIInnee

12) the way he thinks Blue is every friend/guy he interacts with

13) when Simon sends Blue a list of Christmas songs, but he already knows Blue is Jewish...Simon is such a dumb disaster gay it’s funny

14) because of the being outed, Christmas morning, failing email, exhale, and convo with dad scenes, there will be a day I won’t cry/tear up while watching this movie! (I hope)

15) Ms Albright is the best secondary character! (Play practices and cafeteria scene for reference) Behind Garrett and Cal of course, who actually do things to stand up for Simon and show they care: Garrett during the cafeteria scene when he puts one leg outside of the table, when he reads Simon’s coming out post while at soccer practice; Cal when he asks Simon if he wants to talk

16) 110% PERFECT AND A+ USE of a PG-13 rating’s one time use of ‘fuck’

*sorry I’m gonna skip quite far with my comments, I was busy writing down scenes that I might try to fit in my essay*

17) the fact the his friends and classmates give up their whole evening at the carnival to watch Simon get his man

18) Simon’s realization that Bram is Blue 😭

19) Simon you’ve literally eaten like half a plate of food Nora made you throughout this entire movie

20) of course the big romantic Ferris wheel kiss is great and all, but the smaller kiss when he picks Bram up on the way to school 😭 it’s the smaller more casual gay things put in this movie that show we’re totally normal

I don’t think anyone who’s watched the movie is talking about this but

Garret Laughlin getting ready to get the fuck UP out of his seat to possibly punch those two douchebags making fun of Simon after the leaked emails. Like he full on put his leg on the other side of his seat for a while and it was even there after Ms. Albright shows up, like he’s still hesitant to let them leave. If Simon hadn’t gotten up he definitely would’ve.

It should also be pointed out that no one else moved. Only Garret. Only Garret was going to do something. And I think it’s a big hint on Blue being Bram.

I feel like Bram maybe came out to Garret after the emails got leaked?? He wasn’t there at the lunch table with the others that day so I feel like he told Garret then got nervous and avoided.
