Was taking a walk with my best INFJ friend when we saw groups of people enjoying the first day of spring on their porches and we discussed how since graduating high school we both have not belonged a group of friends that casually gather on the regular (a la the Friends sitcom.) Is this an INFJ thing, or just an us thing?

Hello, I am a long time follower of yours, so I remember times when you were quite into mbti and I was wondering if I could ask you a question. I've always believed to be an INFJ. I am vegetarian going vegan, very future oriented and quite obsessively thinking about my impact on the planet with every item bought in plastic wrapping or whatever. Is that common for INFJs, since it seems to be a Ni thing?

this fr might be from like 2 years ago but um yes hello. I think that might be really common, yea. I feel like Ni, esp Ni-Ti, can focus a lot on like how one thing can lead in a direct line to others. I think a lot of INFJs can get rlly anxious n hyperfocused abt how their decisions or acts reverberate into the future or across people/movements. I dont think that like always translates specifically to veganism tho

What does being an infj look like for you?

Hi, love. 💕

Cozy fires, acoustic music, warm blankets, and hot cocoa (or for me Chai Tea).

It looks like reading books and loving knowledge.

It looks like wanting to make the world a better place.

It looks like waiting to find Mr Right, even if that means your friends are dating before you.

Taking intimacy seriously 💕

Valuing people’s time and making sure they also value yours.

It looks like speaking up when things aren’t right.

It looks like caring about the people around you so much that you would give up your life for them.

It means getting annoyed easily with pettiness.

It looks like being incredibly warm while also being incredibly icy.

Those are some of the things that being and INFJ looks like for me 💕

Not sure if you got this ask or not since my computer froze. Hi! I was wondering about something. I am an INFJ and when I take a cognetive function test I score Ni, Fe and Si as excellent use while Ne gets good use, Ti and Fi gets average use and Te and Se gets limited use. I was wondering if you could explain this for me? I just don't get how Si is in excellent use while the Se is so limited. If you want more information to go on just ask :) Thank you :D

Ok! I got your message! Well, I have never taken the functions test, so I’m not really familiar with it. There are a variety of reasons you could have gotten this score. 1. The test has inaccuracies like any other test- Some attributes of a function can be related to other functions as well. For instance both Ni and Si are both known for predicting the future, but in different ways. The test may or may not take those kinds of things in account. 2. MBTI and cognitive functions are theory based and are not solid rules. There are many reasons a certain type will not use their functions all in the right way and right order. 3. Life doesn’t revolve around functions, lol. We are who we are and do what we do, our moods, personality, and past all affect how you might have responded to the test. Also, everyone uses all the functions anyway. 4. You have yourself typed wrong, but their really isn’t necessarily evidence for that since the order your functions came out is kinda random.

So why so much Si?!?!? I don’t have a straight answer, but if my followers have any idea, they are welcome to input their thoughts~

It would make sense that Se is lower because it is your inferior function, and the inferior functions are tricky.

Hey I love your blog! The question I have is, do INFJs have a stronger tendency to form deep, unexplainable attachments to certain people, and keep them secret? I'm an INFJ, and find myself getting attached to seemingly random people, and, because of my secrecy, that person never knows about it. Often, I am content to invest a large amount of mental and emotional energy into someone without them ever knowing how much I really care for them. It's strange, and I hope this makes sense. Thank you!

Hahaha, I read this aloud to my INFJ sister, and we both agree this is definitely an INFJ thing. It has to do with Ni/Fe. Our introverted intuition loves figuring out people and taking interest in them, but our Fe stops us from actually approaching those people out of the blue. I have some friends that I persistently care a lot about, even though I don’t feel they feel the same way. I have those random people in my life I have silently watched as the years gone by. I have those random fb friends, tumblr people i follow, twitter people, that I feel like I know, without them knowing me. However, the secret attachments are most revelant to my crushes. I’ve liked certain boys for years and on and on, but I wouldn’t tell them, cause I was sure I wouldn’t get a good response. But yes, in general, this occurs with us other INFJs too. Those people we find intriguing will never know what we think, yet we can’t stop it! It’s a hard life, lol.

Also, side note for INTJs:

They like to figure out people as well with their dominant Ni, but instead apply it more practically with auxiliary Te. For instance, my INTJ friend finds out a lot of specific information about lots of people “just in case he needs it”. If you ask him for someone’s number, he probably has it…. or knows someone that does!

I'm an infj, and I'm wondering if it's common for Infjs to have a playful sense of humor. I do, and I think it's because of Fe, wanting to make sure people are having fun and comfortable in a conversation, though most of the time I think my jokes are cheesy... But I'm wondering if this is true for most Infjs. Thanks!

While a sense of humor is very individual to each person, mbti types do play a role in how jokes are given and received. Infjs use a strong Fe filter in the general public, if they decide to make a joke at all. Usually an infj will use fe to laugh and show pleasure at others’ jokes in public. They are more likely to make jokes with Ni and decide whether to share them with Fe to close friends and family. I think the playful sense of humor does include Fe when it recognizes the infj is very close to the person they are around and comfortable enough to show a more hidden self. In general though, infjs are known to appreciate puns and cheesy humor, even if some of us are reluctant to acknowledge it.

Rant: my infj sister says sometimes she needs to use Ti in her humor to get her intj friend to appreciate her joke, so ya. you can use your other functions as well, it just takes more effort.
