Anon asks: How do INTP’s flirt?
uhhhhh we...don’t. Look the fact that I’m married should be proof that there is a God because I, in no way, pursued that relationship. Flirting to me is like observing mating rituals in the wild. I understand it in a clinical sense but not a practical one.
Let me tell you how my husband and I met.
Picture it: A mom and pop bookstore on a forgotten side street. Me the reclusive, bookish INTP, browsing the New Release shelves minding my own business.
Enter stage right the young, shy, sailor boy looking for new reading material before he ships out for the next 6 months. He too is browsing the New Release shelf when he reaches for the new J.D. Robb book Judgement in Death. A small, slender hand with shortened nails reaches for the same book at the same time.
Sailor Boy: I see you reached for the same book as me. Does this mean you also like bad ass female detectives who solve crime?
Sailor Boy: Have you read the first books in the series?
Me: I really liked Naked in Death. Eve Dallas is so amazing.
Sailor Boy: I really like Roarke. He’s suave, sophisticated, but a little dangerous.
Me: Oh yeah he’s a great representation of the quintessential bad boy with a heart of gold.
Sailor Boy: So do you come to this bookstore often?
Me: Yes I don’t like the crowds at the bigger box stores.
Sailor Boy: Will you be here in 6 months?
Me: ummm I have no idea and that is weirdly specific..are you a stalker?
Sailor Boy: Would I tell you if I were a stalker? and no I’m not but I am a sailor and we’re shipping out tomorrow I won’t be back here for another 6 months and I’d love to meet up with you and talk books some more.
Me: oh........uhhhhhhhhh...hmmmmmmm..well ok.
Sailor Boy: Why don’t you let me buy you that book. We’ll both read it and discuss it when I get back.
And that is how my husband managed to secure a date with the reclusive INTP Female. How he managed to convince me to marry him is a whole other story.
