Christmas Kisses

In the days leading up to Christmas, Buck gives Eddie a series of sweet and endearing gifts, though they lack the one thing Eddie really wants

Five times Buck gives Eddie cheesy gifts, and the one time Eddie gets exactly what he’s been wanting.

1.

It was days before Christmas now, Eddie putting in all the overtime he could in order to make sure his son had the best Christmas ever.

Working on B-shift was strange, none of his usual teammates around, his partner not there to have his back; it always felt off to work without Buck. Even so, he was grateful that Buck had the day off so that he could watch Christopher, Carla already away for the holidays to spend time with her own family.

He parked in his usual spot when he arrived at Bucks’ and made his way up, not bothering to knock on the door, using his key instead. The first thing that came into view were the Legos and crayons spread all over the table, various books about space buried between them. As Eddie moved into the living room, his heart skipped a few beats, the sight in front of him all too adorable.

The tv was playing low in the background, Finding Nemo on of course—the two seriously never tired of the movie—Buck and Chris curled together on the couch, their curly hair nearly identical. If Eddie took a picture of the moment and used it as his lock screen, well, that was no one’s business but his own. 

Buck stirred suddenly, almost as if sensing Eddie’s presence, those beautiful blues opening. Their eyes met in an instant, Buck offering him the softest smile, Eddie unable to do anything but return it.

“I see you two had fun today.”

Buck smiled sheepishly, looking toward their mess in the kitchen.

“Yea, we uh, might’ve forgotten to clean up before passing out.”

They shared a chuckle, Eddie moving closer to rub a hand through his son’s curls, his hands longing to do the same with Bucks’. 

“Thanks again for watching him today.”

Buck watched Eddie’s movements, looking to Christopher with as much love as Eddie did.

“Yea, always. I kind of love the kid.”

“Hey, you don’t have to say yes, be sad and alone if that’s what you want,” Josh replied. “But, I’m just saying. I’ve seen photos and this guy is volcanic levels of hot. Also, single dad, super cute kid. Saves lives for a living like you. I think you should give it a go.”
