DP X DC Prompt - The Lazarus Mermaid

Danny is monitoring natural tears in the veil, and learns about certain ones that manifest as pools of ectoplasm. He thinks it would be cool to swim around in it, and because ghost forms are mostly based on emotion and how a ghost wants to look, bada bing bada boom, he’s a mermaid.

He’s not mad about it per say. He changes back whenever he leaves the pools. And he’s got bioluminescence! That’s just cool on principle alone. He likes the cool eldritch vibes it gives him, and the claws, sharp teeth, and glowing lures are sick af.

He goes exploring in some of these pools one day only to have something fall in before he breaches the surface. His ghost sense recognizes that it’s a revenant, and the surrounding ectoplasm is messing with the poor thing’s developing core. He can’t let this stand! So Danny, being the good noodle he is, takes the guy by the arm and drags him back up to the surface. It’s a cave of some sort, and Danny’s surprised to find humans standing around the edge of the pool, gaping at him with wide eyes.

He feels like he might have just walked into something he shouldn’t have.

When Jason is first pushed into the Lazarus Pit, a white haired, green glowing mer saves him.

Does he cure the Pit Madness?

Do they escape?

Does the League of Assassins capture them both?

as a no pressure/expectation prompt how about jason todd + the lazarus pit or just lazarus pit side effects! i think it would look super cool in your art style :D

AU in which Jason personally invented/made up pit madness as an excuse to beat Tim to death with a pillow whenever he felt like it

“Argh! Oh no, Tim, the pit madness, it’s taking over!”

Tim: “Mother f-“

Jason: “it’s all going green!”

Lazarus Pit Madness is an incredibly popular headcanon and I personally love it but what if it wasn't the Pit making Jason mad and killing people and stuff.

What if the madness was caused by the All-Blades?

Picture this: when Jason comes out of the Pit he's Pit Mad for a couple days and then gets an episode every couple of months for about a year then everything is good and Talia eventually sends him to the All-Caste and goes through the training there and gets the All-Blades as normal.

Now as far as I'm aware the All-Blades are exclusively for use against magical threats and things that are deemed Evil™ so what if the All-Blades whisper to him about the sins of those around him (especially those who are magic in some way) it should be a cacophony of noise all the time but it doesn't really effect him and stranger still, despite it sometimes being hundreds of voices overlapping you could pick out anyone and he'd be able to recite all their sins by heart.

The times where he goes truly off the rails like a rabid animal are usually when someone has committed a sin that he personally considers truly evil (usually stuff involving kids) but the problem is that in this state he is assimilated partially with the All-Blades causing his mortality to become more similar to them and also being fairly indiscriminate in doling out judgement. (Titan's Tower for example was only as bad as it was because Slade decided to spy in person and his list of crimes set him off)

Basically I'm saying we should explore other reasons for Jason's violence and extremes other than the Pit or him being fully aware.

That one ask about AP Bruce putting Jason in the pit himself just put so many batkid AP things into my head. Like Bruce has his flock and he keeps them in this near inescapable nest, but is there truly any place they’d rather be at the end of the day? Bruce having the constant mental push and pull of wishing they didn’t have to be there, to wanting them there and needing them there. He can’t help but protect and love them even though it opens up a target. How much rage does them being there give him, that His City would be cruel enough to lock children in a place like this.

How terrifying would that rage be after Jason’s death. Because I can imagine that would be enough for him to slip, to remind everyone exactly why Bruce is here in the first place. And that he’s here because he *chose* to be, he can leave at any time. He can march freely through the doors, and bring back the *dead*.

Just the image of him covered in blood both from Jason’s body, and also covered in marks and scratches from where Jason bit and scratched and thrashed from the pit, just holding him and trying to keep him warm and trying to let him know that he’s safe now.

That last paragraph took me out at the KNEES. GOD.

Jason Todd pit madness except that Ra’s was right and the forces that resurrected Jason (super boy punch glitter) really did interact with the pit weirdly, so the result isn’t typical pit madness or even run of the mill berserker rage. Jason literally just glitches out sometimes, temporarily taking on the characteristics of other characters not himself. In Brothers in Blood it was Tad Ryerstad. In BFTC it was Azrael. By the time Batman & Robin rolled around Jason’s existence was destabilized to the point that he was even glitching into his pre-crisis self.
