Firefly, as a character, is objectively one of my favorites to draw + construct all around.
I wanted to tie in a cyber-punkesque feel to her, especially since she’s so unique compared to the rest of the crew.
I wanted to make her very angular, very sharp and pointed like a triangle, as a lot of @teamstarfallofficial’s designs rely on softer shapes, usually circles or rectangles.
One thing I don’t show very often, is Firefly with her hair down.
Her hair is pin straight save for an incidental cowlick, and I imagine she gels it down.
I like to imagine that her hair catches fire sometimes and she just rolls with it because she finds it so funny.
Many people think about the inspirations I had when it came down to her final look, and to that, I say: look no further than BIG HERO 6.
It’s my favorite childhood movie. Makes me tear up every time it gets put on.
She’s what I’d call a nonchalant crackhead, going with the flow, with a non-serious temper to boot.
I gave her these big bulky, clawlike arms to extend how inhuman the comet made her. A weird homage to both Blaze and Knuckles, if you’re familiar with Sonic at all, hehe.
I find her super form, or limit broken form the most challenging to concept.
I wanted her hair, which due to the comet is a mix of her elven hair and poly-bicarbonate fibers, to ignite and become this … lava like sludge, having the hair flow down instead of up, unlike stereotypical powered up forms.
I wanted her features to soften, and grow more uncannily sweeter, as a misnomer. The misdirection being intentional so while she looks vulnerable, she’s a force to be reckoned with.
I can’t say I didn’t struggle with her anatomy at all.
Because I did.
A lot.
About over 80% of her body is cybernetics, so I had to keep this slick look onto her without leaving a weird unbalanced look to her.
Another thing I struggled with is making sure she looks older than the main group.
Because she is!
I didn’t want to make her too old looking, nor did I want to give her a baby face, so without going too wild, I gave her a sour expression and made her features angular, while keeping the flesh of the face soft.
While she isn’t the fan favorite when it comes to characters, as I’ve seen… It makes me happy when people give her some peace of mind.

charles and nae are pretty cool. i can see myself getting along well with the both of them.

percy and firefly... those two are WAY too chaotic for me, in my opinion. i don't hate them but like...
it's one of those things where i'm not sure if they hate me or like.. i can tell that although we'd be "friends" there'd be some fighting, yunno?
