Summary - Spock finds his wife sick, and he is determined to take care of her. Even against her own wishes.
Kirk looked around his bridge with furrowed brows, confused on why his translator is not at her station. "Um Mr. Spock could you spare a second please?" He asked Spock quickly made his way over, "Yes captain?"
"Where is my translator?" Spock glanced over at her station and took a sharp breath in. "I have no idea sir; she was right behind me this morning. May I?" Kirk nodded, understanding his worry, it is his wife after all. Missing her shift is not like her, in all honesty it had Kirk worried as well.
Silently Spock left the bridge authoritatively striding down the halls. He comes to his and his wife's quarters and he can hear coughing from the bathroom. "My dear, are you alright?"
"I'm alright a bit sick, but I'll be okay." He opens the door to his wife sitting on the floor. Her head resting against the shower door. "Oh, my thy' la." He mused kneeling down brushing hair out of her eyes. "You should be on the bridge." She mumbled enjoying the feeling of his cold hands.
"When you weren't there the captain, and I audibly became worried. I'm glad I am here now." She nodded and pushed herself of the ground, Spock standing with her. A wave of dizziness washed over her, and she had to lean on her husbands. "Come, I'll take care of you." She shook her head, "no, we need to be on the bridge." He walked her to the nicely made bed and pulled back the covers.
"They will endure." He lays her down and pulls the covers over her. "Oh, Spock I have so much to do." She whined and he shushed her, "It is another day's problem." She prompts herself on her elbows and Spock kissed her on the head. "You need rest. I will get medicine from Doctor Mccoy, and we will have a relaxed day in."
She looked up at him with pleading eyes, and he only gave her a pointed look. "I love you." She whispered, "I love you more." He gently pushed her back down and made sure the covers were on just right. She falls asleep within seconds, and he takes her hand giving her a gentle Vulcan kiss.
He walked to his comms and range his captain. "Spock to bridge."
"Kirk here, you find her Spock?"
"I did captain, Y/n is very ill, I believe it is just a fever I will stay with her."
"Very good, I'll send Bones over. give her my best."
So I've kinda always wanted to write a Story about a Vulcan and a Human falling in Love yet I never found a fitting Character until Sarek. Now I'm no Home wrecker so obviously I had to change the Storyline and Universe a bit. They meet 3 years after Vulcan got destroyed and unfortunately widowed him..
Here a little sneak peek:
Sarek studied her intently, observing the gentle confidence in her gaze and the earnestness of her extended hand—an invitation he had never anticipated accepting. His steady and strong hand instinctively moved forward, finally meeting hers in a soft press. The touch was electric, each finger aligning in perfect symmetry as their hands met in the traditional Vulcan kiss.
"Your courage is... commendable," he murmured, his voice low and resonant, his eyes locked on hers as their intertwined hands hovered between them, symbolizing the delicate balance they teetered upon.
A breath she hadn't realized she was holding escaped her as she felt his hand finally connect with hers, her fingers naturally curling around his, just as his did with hers. She held his gaze for a brief moment before looking away, a mix of bewilderment and amusement painting her features. After a moment's pause, she met his eyes again, a hint of mischief in her tone.
"I just assured Ambassador T'Lara that our relationship is strictly professional."
She recalled her earlier conversation with the other ambassadors, where she had reassured them that Sarek's interest in her research was solely for his kin, not for her. Sarek's gaze remained fixed on her, his hand still entwined with hers in that intimate Vulcan gesture. He found irony in her words, especially given their current situation.
"It would seem your assurances require reevaluation," he remarked, a subtle edge of amusement lacing his tone. The logical part of him recognized that this connection held far-reaching consequences, both personally and professionally. Yet, the unexpected warmth of her touch and the open sincerity in her eyes compelled him to contemplate what lay beyond duty and logic.
A/N - Another Star Trek meme has appeared on my page, so have another Bones fic. There’s not nearly enough of these on here, so hopefully I can add this one and many more to the collection in the days/weeks/months/years that I continue to write.

“Well this is fucking typical,” McCoy muttered under his breath at the current situation you were stuck in.
You’d been collecting samples from a newly discovered planet when the Enterprise’s teleportation pads went down. Meaning you couldn’t be beamed back up. Meaning you were stuck.
You would have been fine on your own, you knew how to defend yourself and you had more than enough food and water in the bag you were carrying to sustain yourself. But you weren't alone. You had a very hostile doctor with you.
You don’t know when the hatred between you two had started, but you and the doctor had come to the mutual agreement that you did not like each other and would prefer to avoid each other whenever possible.
“Since we’re stuck here, we might as well get comfortable,” you decide as you lean back against a rock.
It wasn’t the most comfortable thing you’d ever leaned against, but it certainly wasn’t the least. The least, you didn’t want to even think about, it was too disgusting, too traumatizing.
“Of course you’re just going to relax,” he rolls his eyes.
“What the fuck are you on about?” You ask indignantly.
“The fact that we’re stuck on a foreign planet, that could be hostile for all we know, and you’re choosing to lay back and soak in the sun,” he responded, making you narrow your eyes.
“At least I’m not acting like I have a stick up my ass,” you fire back.
He sends you a glare before walking in circles around the clearing, his repeated footsteps beginning to drive you crazy. You would speak up about it but you knew it would send you both on a tangent that would only serve to annoy you more.
“Why the fuck did Jim send both of us down here?” He exclaimed angrily, continuing to pace back and forth, pissed off at the situation Kirk had gotten him stuck in.
“You tell me,” you answer, equally as pissed off, “you’re the one who’s friends with him.”
He chooses not to answer you this time, simply continuing to pace, both of your moods only worsening as time passes by at the speed of a snail.
You found that you could learn a lot about the planet if you were with someone you couldn’t stand to look at or interact with. It forced you to look at other things, interact with other things.
Something you took note of while you were waiting was how the world seems to come alive at night. During the day, when you’d been collecting samples, the world look dead. The trees looked droopy, their branches sagging, their leaves crumpling in your hands when you’d reached out to touch them. The grass was course and rough, scratchy against your skin whenever you walked. The pools of liquid in the dips of the ground were empty of moss and algae and any other type of common flora.
But at night, everything seemed to be at full bloom. The trees no longer looked droopy, their branches having straightened out, the leaves returning to a soft and lush green. Beneath your feet, the grass was now silky smooth, it was even enjoyable to touch. Around you, the little pools that have been void of life were now filled with plants growing out of every crack.
You’re pulled out of your observations only when Kirk finally contacts McCoy’s transmitter.
“Bones, Y/N, we’ve figured out the problem with the teleportation pads,” he starts, “so that’s the good news.”
“What’s the bad news, Kirk?” You ask, wanting him to just cut to the chase.
“It’ll take us a while to fix it.” Fuck.
“How long?” Bones speaks up, both of you praying that you wouldn’t be in this situation for too much longer.
“A couple hours, so try to get comfortable and stay put,” he tells you.
You and McCoy had finally settled into a somewhat comfortable silence, both coming to the conclusion that the best way to make it through this was to not talk at all.
“Y/N,” McCoy speaks up about an hour to two hours in, breaking your tentative truce and earning a glare from you.
“You better have a good reason for interrupting my peace and quiet,” you hiss, “or I swear to god-”
“Y/N.”
“I will shove a stick so far up your ass-”
“Y/N.”
“that my insults are-”
“Y/N!” He exclaims.
“What?” You shout back loudly.
“That sound,” his words make you freeze.
You listen to your surroundings carefully, eyes widening when you hear a low murmur. It sounds like talking, not a language you could understand but certainly a language. And they were getting closer.
You and McCoy share a look, instantly darting to grab your materials before cramming both your bodies into a tiny little alcove as a few figures come into view.
They were human sized but certainly not human with their mostly grayish skin and red hair. The clothes they wore were dark gray rags, an indiction that they were still a developing race,
This was a great find but would also cause McCoy and you some problems as they couldn’t be alerted of your presence or the existence of other life. You couldn't break the Prime Directive.
“What do we do?” You whisper to McCoy softly as you both try to keep as quiet as possible.
“We stay the way we are until they either leave or the Enterprise beams us back up.” He responds, his voice a lot closer to you than you initially thought.
It was dark in the tiny alcove, dark enough that you didn’t realize how close you were to him, close enough that you could feel his breath fanning the back of your neck now that you were hyper aware of your positioning.
A shiver runs down your spine. You hadn’t been this close to someone since stepping onto the ship, too busy with your work to put any effort into an actual love life.
“Are you cold?” He asks, his voice gentle now that you both had to be quiet.
“A little,” you lie, not wanting to give anything away.
You feel him move, placing his arms to either side of you, still respectfully not touching you. It was surprisingly sweet of him, something you didn’t expect from the gruff man who was always drinking and speaking cynically.
“Do you want me to?” He asks, to which you nod in response, giving him permission.
A few moments later, his arms are circling around your waist, pulling you close to his chest, giving you warmth. Subconsciously, your body moves towards him, plastering you to him in a way that would have made you embraced had you not been thankful for the body heat.
“You know, you’re not so bad,” you whisper quietly, half wanting him to know and half wanting to keep the thought to yourself.
“So I’ve been told,” he jokes, to which you pinch him arm.
“I’m being serious, Bones,” you state, “you’re not as bad as I thought you were.”
“You’re no so bad either,” he responds.
With that, you two fell into a comfortable silence, knowing enough was said and enough was done. You had come to another mutual agreement, this time that you didn't hate the other and wouldn’t avoid each other.
So when Kirk alerted you that you were being beamed up, Bones let you go with a smirk.
A/n: YOOOOOOOOO I kind of forgot about these movies LOL I had so much rewatching the first movie to get in the mood for this.

They say that nothing compares to the wrath of a woman scorned.
Well, they hadn't met Y/n yet.
"Are you INSANE?"
Leonard "Bones" McCoy was a great doctor, and had long since been an even better friend to recently made Captain James T Kirk of the Enterprise. With all the titles and fancy stuff aside, Bones knew a thing or two about fear. He had watched everything taken from him when his wife, many years, divorced him and drained him of every penny she could. He had faced a threat from the future most recently who's goal was to wipe the solar system of any species other than his own. He had watched his long time friend almost die. A lot. Like, A LOT. So many times it wasn't even funny and he had almost strangled the man himself when everything settled again. He had faced death himself once or twice though and in the end everyone was safe so he let it be. The point was, he had faced and conquered fear. He should be able to handle it.
Watching Y/n storm up to him filled him with more fear than he had faced looking at even Death itself.
Y/n was stern faced and tense. "Hey there," Bones greeted, ready to get lectured.
Instead of yelling, Y/n did something Bones didn't expect. He took Bones in his arms, hugging him desperately. Bones felt his surprise fade and embarrassment take over. Not because he was one of those people who didn't believe in affection between friends or men, but because he had a gigantic crush on Y/n and the feeling of the man holding him made him feel like a teenager again. He was an idiot, honestly. Good god man, he was a grown adult!
Yet, when Y/n held him at arm's length, Bones was blushing. "You didn't even call me when you got back. I had to hear about your little adventure from the news! From Jim of all people!"
Bones flinched. He had been busy since he'd gotten back. It had only been a few days and there had been so much going on... He didn't think it would have upset Y/n this much. The men were friends, having met a while back through Bones' now ex wife actually. Before he was married to her, Y/n had been a friend of a friend to her. When they'd gotten divorced, Y/n was there for him. Ever since they'd stayed friends, but as time passed Bones has recognized his feelings for Y/n had been... different. Especially when he became friends with Jim, he realized that how he felt wasn't normal for two close friends. He'd never had the confidence to take a shot and as Y/n tried his hand with other women, Bones wrote it off and assumed his chanced were kaput.
The look in Y/n's eyes right now though spoke of panic. Care much more than just one friend to another. It was moments like this that let Bones dream. He tried to put his own feelings down. Y/n didn't have a lot of friends or family. Bones was one of the few people he still had left after a hard life that had left him almost entirely alone. Of course he'd be worried about losing one of those people.
"I'm sorry," he sighed. "It's just been super busy-"
Y/n scoffed and rolled his eyes, cutting the other man off. "I hear you're allowed calls every once in a while." Bones gave him a confused look. "On the Enterprise, Bones! Come on- you're going back out there and if you're not going to tell me shit, then I'm going to demand you set up a call system so that every time you land you have me on the line dialing. I want it to be habit, do you understand?"
Bones couldn't hold back a smile. He tried to play it off as teasing, but his whole body felt warmer. "Oh come on, I'll be fine." His voice was soft.
"You better be." Y/n sighed, seeming to have calmed down. "Look, I just- I get it. Just let me know you're okay next time before I hear the news and go full panic mode, okay?"
Scoffing softly, Bones offered a, "Okay, mom."
Y/n smiled and the world got a little brighter. "You're an idiot." Then he turned and began to walk away. Bones watched, his smile coming in full steam now that he was alone.
Except... he wasn't. It was that second he remembered that there were other people in the Med Bay at that moment. Nurses mostly, but patients too. Every single pair of eyes was staring at him. All of them were amused and accusing. Knowing. Playful. He hardened immediately, scowling back at them. "Okay show's over, get back to work." He turned away and everyone smiled.
Idiots indeed.
-
"Are you insane?" This time it came from Bones and Y/n was on the receiving end.
Y/n wasn't going to take the lecture like Bones had though. "If you're going to be facing death all the damn time, I might as well be here to watch your back. I can't stand staying at home while y-" he cut off, stalling a second as his brain realigned. "As my two closest friends set off into the great space and throw their lives around like they mean nothing!"
Bones grunted in frustration. "Y/n, you're working as a mechanic."
"A damn good one too!" Y/n threw back. "I'm the King of repairs, and it seems you guys need someone like that on deck. You have the greatest captain, the best second in command-"
"A stretch," Bones grumbled.
"Amazing pilots and a mechanical genius who advanced beaming an insane amount. But even geniuses need help, and while he's a great mind, I'm great with my hands." Y/n rose said appendages, wiggling his fingers. "Plus it doesn't matter. Scotty was more than happy to have me on board and pushed for it himself. Went straight tot he Captain and everything. Jim was more than happy to have me aboard. That's it. I'm coming and you can't stop me."
A long, soft sigh escaped Bones then. "Fine, but if you get ANY injuries, you come to me directly do you understand? This stuff is dangerous."
Just then Y/n got a huge, shit eating grin on his face. "I was planning to, Doctor." Something about how he looked when he said it made Bones both nervous and excited. When they parted ways, Bones tried to not let the moment of seclusion allow his mind to wander too much.
-
"I just burned my hand," Y/n huffed impatiently. "Scotty needs me back, Bones. Just bandage it or something."
Bones tugged Y/n's hand closer by the wrist, glaring at him. "You're being too careless! My god Y/n sit still! You're whinier than Jim." That got Y/n to be quiet. Which in turn made Bones struggle not to laugh. After all, who would want to be compared to Jim Kirk in whininess? Even though he really didn't complain all that often, Y/n and Bones had a running joke that he was secretly a nine year old girl. Simply because it bothered him.
In the moment of silence, Y/n got the opportunity to really look at Bones. He watched quietly as Bones carefully applied an oily cream that made the stinging pain go away. It was soothing and cold; a huge relief. The lapse of pain allowed him to take a second to admire the features of the man tending to him. The smile lines that were hidden because he liked to be grumpy and sassy, but which showed every time he even cracked the tiniest of smiles or smirks. The deep color of his brown eyes and how the concentrated with unbreakable focus. The line of his jaw, hard as his teeth locked together. He had a small scar above his left eyebrow. It was something he'd never seen before. Perhaps he'd gotten it more recently... The curve of his nose drew his eyes straight to his lips.
Only then did Bones finish, of course, and as he looked over Y/n tried to look casual and as if he hadn't been checking Bones out. Which he most definitely had been. "Will that be all, Doc?"
Rolling his eyes, Bones let Y/n's hand fall. "For now. Be more careful."
Y/n hopped down from the bed, grinning widely. "But then what excuse would I have to visit you?" He laughed afterward to play it off as a joke, but there was a false tone to it. A truth in his words overcame the chuckle, so Y/n headed out quickly. Unfortunately it left a rather speechless Bones alone before he could come up with something to reply, and a bunch of smirking nurses all looking at each other with looks that spelled trouble.
-
When Y/n came in limping, Bones thought it would be for something more real than tripping and falling down stairs. The injury had seemed legitimate until only a few hours later Y/n was spick and span- even though Bones hadn't done more than ice it for ten minutes.
When Y/n had come holding his arm and wincing every time someone touched it, Bones was there dutifully even though it was only from slamming it in a door. He wrapped it up and gave Y/n something to help the healing and pain. In a few days he was perfectly fine, even though Bones had expected a few weeks of soreness at the very least.
It got only more ridiculous from there. From smashed fingers and headaches and sore throats and itchy eyes and sore muscles, Y/n was coming into the Med Bay for help from Bones once every few days. It was a record. Even when there was nothing going on, Y/n found increasingly creative ways to get hurt and end up needing some kind of help and attention. Bones took the opportunity with only minimal griping about Y/n's carelessness. To be fair, he was probably trying very hard to enjoy Y/n's company rather than focus on the fact that Y/n was rarely if ever sick and had a habit of being very careful. In severe situations, he was always the one with the least amount of damage. It seemed that he was prone for small accidents and that his luck magically returned every time it counted. Not that anyone was complaining, but it was rather odd.
Or, more fittingly, obvious. Everyone but Bones was seeing right through Y/n. One day the nurses finally decided to intervene.
Nurse Avery began the casual prodding. "I'm sorry that Dr. McCoy wasn't available to help you today."
"It's fine," Y/n dismissed, even though he was obviously very disappointed.
Avery nodded. "You two seem to be very close," she continued. This time her overly casual tone was overlapped with a pointed look, but both only made Y/n confused.
"Well, we've been friends for years. Even before he and Jim were," Y/n offered.
The nurse nodded her head, but her smirk said that she knew something. Or had assumed something. Or that what Y/n had said fed some sort of theory maybe? Y/n wasn't sure. "And how many years have you been clumsy?"
That made Y/n nervous. It was an odd question to ask, unless they knew the real reason he was in here so often. But surely that wasn't possible. "What do you mean?"
"You know exactly what she means," Another nurse, Simon, teased. He rolled his eyes, an amused smile curving his parted lips. "If your blush had anything to say."
Nurse Amy giggled. They were both doing other things but it seemed their attention was on the conversation. Even Nurse Lyro spoke to them now as they treated a patient. "We never see you in here after a big battle. And we all know that you're one of very few that is careful enough not to get hurt during catastrophes, which is odd since you're normally in the middle of it and not hiding like the others."
Y/n's frown wiped the smiles off their faces. "It's because I'm a coward." The nurses exchanged looks with each other. They hadn't meant to upset him. "Are you done?" He looked up at Avery. "With my hand?"
"Yeah," she answered softly. Her own fingers had stilled, resting on top of and below his hand. It had been mostly to keep him in place, but now she let it drop. "Do you-?"
"Thank you for your help." Y/n stood off the table, offering the girl a small smile before leaving the Med Bay. Looks were exchanged between the nurses again.
What had that been about?
-
"Dr. McCoy?" Bones looked over to see Nurse Lyro. They continued when he looked over, giving them his attention. "Have you seen Y/n recently?"
Bones pursed his lips in a frown. "I haven't. Why?"
Lyro shrugged. "Well Avery tended his hand a few weeks ago and we haven't seen him in the Med Bay since, not even for a check up."
It had been three and a half weeks to be precise, and Bones was worried. After seeing Y/n every three or four days, Bones had come into a routine of leaving a looseness in his schedule that would allow him time to tend Y/n. Only a few times did something unpredictable interfere with it which is when the nurses usually took over like last time. But in the last almost month, Y/n hadn't been by even once. Bones saw him occasionally outside of work, but otherwise Y/n made him scarce and the doctor would be lying if he said he didn't miss his friend.
"I'll have to hunt him down once I'm off my shift and make sure he's taking care of himself." Bones gave a short laugh then. "He's probably focused on some project or something. We'll have him back in here in a bit."
Lyro grabbed Bones' shoulder to stop him from leaving. "Last time he was here, we were talking and he said something about being a coward. It seemed to upset him..." They sighed. "I just wanted to make sure our conversation wasn't what upset him."
That seemed to confuse Bones. "A coward?" Lyro shrugged. "Huh. Okay." They shared nods and then parted ways. Right when Bones' shift left, he headed straight for Y/n's room. He knocked on the door a few times before Y/n answered. When he did, the man seemed to be battling between happiness and hurt. It didn't make sense. "Hey Y/n."
"Hi." Y/n leaned against his door. "Do you... want to come in?"
"Sure yeah I'd like that." Y/n moved to open his door more and Bones came inside. When the door closed, Bones turned back so they faced each other. "The nurses wanted me to check on your burn. You haven't been by in a while."
Y/n showed his hand. It looked fine, if only minorly scarred. "It healed nicely. Everyone in the Med Bay is pretty great. It's awesome."
Bones nodded. "I'm glad to hear."
There was a long silence. "Is that all you wanted to say?"
"Why did you say you were a coward?" It sort of slipped out, far from graceful. "You're always right there by Jim and Spock. You've even stepped in a few times for me, and no matter how crazy something is, you're always willing to do it if it saves someone. How could you think you're a coward?"
Y/n sighed, rubbing his eyes. "Jim is the brave one. He's always risking himself and protecting everyone. He's got all of our backs and cares a lot about what's right. Then there's Spock, and despite how much he tries to seem emotionless so he can appear in control, it's only because he's so smart that he hasn't gotten himself killed from how much he puts himself on the line to protect others. And you... Well, they'd both be super dead without you. Not just how great of a doctor you are either, but because you balance Jim's recklessness and Spock's focus on what's logical and such. You guys are like this unbreakable triangle of perfection where you all watch each other's back and without even one of you the other two would fail. I just... hide behind it. I do what I'm told and hide when I can. Do you know how many times each of your has stepped in when I was too scared to do it? How many times you guys have almost died because I hesitated or sat back or stopped functioning because I'm terrible in high stress situations? Scotty is the one who does all the important stuff. I just help him when he needs me to.He could probably do it without me, honestly. I just feel like the extra piece of an already completed puzzle."
It all came out soft and empty. Defeated. Bones rolled his eyes- he wasn't having any of this. "Do you know how many times Scotty has praised Jim for adding you to his team? You know a lot more about mechanics than he does, even though he's really smart about it. I've CAUGHT him just hitting things to get them to work. You might take more time and effort, but when you fix something it lasts longer than when Scotty does- even though he is better in a high stress situation or whatever." Bones scoffed. "If we're being real, no one is actually GOOD in those situations, some are just better than others. And even then, you know how many times Jim or Spock or I have had to clean up the messes of the other? You say we're like a perfect whatever, but half the time I want to strangle both of them and they each other. It's chaotic and we're all trying our best and because of you, we're doing a LOT better than we would be."
Y/n crossed his arms over his chest. "Do you know why I come by the Med Bay so often?"
"Why?" Bones asked, his tone tired as he expected some new reason why he was pathetic. Perhaps it was that he was too lazy to be careful, or that he was clumsy or easily distracted. Bones had arguments for all of those things.
Unfortunately that's not what Y/n said. "Because I'm in love with you." Bones was stunned into silence, processing what had just been told to him. "I only joined the crew because I hated being away from you. I hate flying and I hate space and confrontation makes me anxious. I'm terrible in combat and even worse at social interactions. I'm awkward and quiet and bad at carrying conversation, so instead of just asking you on a date like a normal person I joined the one place I didn't go, even though I graduated school for it. Do you know why I left?"
"No," Bones answered quietly.
"I was sixteen when I joined my very first crew. I was the head mechanic until one thing went wrong and I almost stranded the whole ship. In space. A very long time from help. Everyone said that I had taken a calculated risk in the face of a surprise attack from a planet that was supposed to be hosting us for a peace conference. I saved everyone or whatever." Y/n shook his head. "I used to be a prodigy. One of the youngest mechanics ever to join Star Fleet. And good at my job too. But I was too... I took too many risks. They rationalized that I was effective, but when I left no one asked about it."
Bones tried to remember any news about Y/n. Anything before he'd joined the Enterprise. "Why don't I know about any of this?"
Y/n chuckled darkly. "Because I was too impulsive and hard to control. I was bad with authority and didn't take anything seriously. Until it was almost too late. I was too young, and they'd taken a risk with letting me go to school and test- let alone join an actual ship. I almost got everyone killed because they took a chance. A chance they repeat, until Chekov. But that was years later and he was both dedicated and intelligent. Focused, and very aware if how important his job was. With me, they'd made a mistake, and they weren't about to let everyone know that."
"Is that why you're always so reserved?" Bones asked.
Nodding, Y/n leaned against the wall behind him. "My ego took a huge hit that day. I still haven;t really recovered." He scoffed at himself. "Now I can't even talk to you. We just hang out occasionally and you talk about your life and I listen. I support everyone, quietly. I can't even ask you out when I see you every other day or something. I just get distracted while I'm working then come to you with my newest injury and then I run away without ever saying anything with my tail between my legs. Like I'm eleven and afraid of cooties. It's pathetic."
Bones was still having a hard time wrapping his mind around this. "And why are you telling me now?"
"Well it's time I was honest. You've asked about my past loads of times, and it's not fair to keep bothering you without telling you why I'm always hovering. For once in my life I'm being both open AND level headed. So that you can see how pathetic I am and reject me officially so we can both move on."
"You're an idiot," Bones spat.
"Well yeah that's what I'm-" But he didn't finish that, because Bones grabbed his face and pulled him into a kiss, cutting him off. Y/n tensed but as Bones kept kissing him, he had no choice but to melt into him. What was he going to do? Push the other man away? I think the fuck not.
The kiss was earnest. Words that couldn't be found. Something that could only be explained in this way. Bones didn't give a single shit what Y/n had done in his past, or what he thought of himself now. To Bones, Y/n was... amazing, for some reason.
They parted, but Bones held onto him. "My best friend is James T Kirk and you think that you been a free spirit when you were sixteen was going to scare me away?"
Y/n did laugh at that. "You're not in love with Kirk though. You're just friends."
"But I am in love with you," Bones sassed rather firmly. "Got that?"
For a second, all of Y/n's insecurities slipped away from him, and he grinned. "Yeah. Got it."
"Good," Bones grumbled. Then he kissed him again and they got lost each other. The night had only just begun, and on the high of finally releasing all the pent up emotions they'd both been scrambling to keep under control, they finally took the opportunity to let it all go and make up for lost time. And boy did they.

You watched as another person tried to flirt with the man that made your heart flutter. He seemed to be having a nice time enjoying the attention as well. You tried to ignore it, you really did, but it was so hard watching him laugh and smile with someone else. You turned away and just tried to talk and laugh with some of your friends. It wasn’t long before Doctor Leonard McCoy santered his way back to you with a goofy smile plastered over his face. He leaned to whisper into your ear but you shifted away. He looked at you confused. He tried to give you a gentle kiss on your cheek only for you to pull away again. The man growled before leading you away from the rest of the party. He pulled you into a small private alcove. Refusing to look at him, you turned your head away. He frowned and asked, “Is everything alright? What’s going on?”
You huffed at him. “Of course I’m fine,” You folded your arms over your chest, “I mean, why wouldn’t I be?” You huffed again and tried to push past him.
Bones grabbed onto you and pushed you back into the small space, “I know something is wrong now. Either you’re going to tell me or we are going to leave.”
Your face dropped and looked down. You didn’t want to leave. You rarely got to see your friends in such and environment without worry or care. You frowned. “That’s not fair,” you mumbled under your breath, “I’m not the one flirting with random people.”
The doctor’s eyes widened and he nodded, “Oh?” He crossed his own arms over his chest, “I’m flirting with random people now, am I?”
You hit his chest and let out a large breath, “What is that supposed to mean?”
“I’ve just been trying to be friendly. I kept trying to motion for you to come over,” He explained, “It was awkward as watching an alligator in high heels and a dress with grandpa thinkin’ it’s mawmaw.”
You snorted, “Your experiences are not universal, but I get the point.” You started to laugh trying to imagine what the McCoy family reunions must be like if that is what he tried to compare it to.
He smiled down at you, “So are we all good, love? Can we go back into the party now and forget all that nonsense?”
You nodded, “As long as you promise me you tell me the story that goes along with that.”
He laughed and kissed your head, “I promise on my family’s peach cobbler recipe.”
You gasped then smiled at the man before kissing his cheek and walking back into the party.
Mccoy gazed down at his patient and the only thing that went through his mind is that 'Spock must be spared of this.' God, he wished he would be spared of this. His friend laid unconscious and no one including himself knows when she will wake up. The captain sits at the doorway watching McCoy work. Praying silently that the stats, the scans, the tests were wrong. They know Spock will be there any second, and they don't know if they have the strength to tell him. They don't know if they have the strength to watch.
They both stop and turn in hesitation when they find Spock just behind Kirk. Staring, gaping at the sight. He hesitantly tries to come in, but Kirk holds him back. "Spock?" His voice shaky, but he doesn't answer he pushes past him. Stopping at the edge of her bed. Her body supine, her eyes closed. Her breathing slowed that is what he hated the most. He steps closer lowering his ear just above her lips. His heart stopped. There was barely any air, barely breath. He lifted his head his brows furrow "Y/n," he whispered painfully as he lowers his head in the crook of her neck.
just for a second the vulcan teared up, before gathering his composure. "When will she wake up?" He asked Mccoy, the doctor looks down shaking his head. "I don't know." Spock winced, "Will she live?"
"I don't know."
Spock looked at the doctor blankly, before pulling over a chair. he sat down and stared at her. He did not speak, he did not look away, he didn't even want to breath. Kirk and Mccoy glance at each other warily. They have never seen him like this. "Spock, I promise I will work around the clock. I will find out what is going on and stop it!" Mccoy promised but the Spock only nodded. "Captain, I believe I will be unable to for fill my duties until this situation has concluded." Spock informed quietly, absentmindedly it didn't even sound like him. Like he was a million miles off. "I understand Spock."
Days, weeks, months went past, and Spock stayed by her side. She laid gracefully and he watched her with yearning. The only way to get him to leave is by captain's orders. Even at that the most he will be gone is thirty minutes. He sat unemotional barely speaks, barely sleeps, barely eats. Mccoy was doing his daily scans, when he suddenly asked. "Why didn't you tell her?"
"I do not know what you're inferring."
"Yes, you do. Why didn't you tell Y/n you're in love with her?"
"I don't see the logic in -" Maccoy interrupted "Yes you do. Now tell me are you scared?" Spock slowly trailed his eyes to Mccoy's, "terrified." He answered, "why?"
"I am Vulcan. I am emotionless. I have been chained to a woman who of which I do not love since I was seven years old. Y/n is lovely, she is free, she is only emotions. She cries at illogical times, she laughs at illogical times, and overall is just illogical. We are polar opposites. I should want nothing to do with her." Mccoy sat down his tools and leaned on his counter now intrigued.
"Yet?"
"Yet I am in love with her. Every time I am around her, I am terrified, she looks into my eyes and my heart stops. I cannot control myself when I am around her. I have this illogical need to protect her even though I know with full certainty she does not need it, but I wasn't there. Now is she being in a coma all because of me? If I was there, I would have protected her! I would have held her and told her everything is going to all right! I would give nothing more to have her look into my eyes now. I want her to make my heart stop." Spock stops himself looking back down covering his watery eyes.
Mccoy walks over to him and places a hand on his shoulder "I will fix this." Before walking into his office. Spock Grabs her wrist bringing it to his lips. Holding her hand to his cheek, whispering "please make my heart stop."
We all stood around the lounge drinks in hand listening to the captain's toast. Everyone is so content; there is no danger, no major priorities, just here and now. Lt. Flores seems extra excited to hear the captain's speech. It's no secret how she feels about the captain, well a large sum of people on the ship feels toward him.
He is kind, handsome, respectful, brave, but I would not say what they are feeling is love. I would say that their love is more like lust. "So please, eat drink and please for the love of god enjoys yourselves." The captain ended with a clap from his adoring crew. Except I was so lost in thought that I forgot to clap.
The party proceeded, Dr. Mcoy was having a bickering session with one of the engineer boys. Spock was talking to the head nurse, and the captain well, he was flirting with Lt. Flores. Of course, he was flirting with Flores, I don't blame him of course she is pretty. Although not the nicest person on board. I don't think he is thinking of character though.
I try not getting jealous of Flores too much. Even though she gets everything. Even though she literally gets every man's attention. No, I don't want to be jealous. I want to be happy for her, I mean why shouldn't I be. Someone taps me on the shoulder interrupting my train of thought dead in its tracks.
It was a science officer I work with sometimes. His name is Mica, he is nice enough, not really my type. "May I have this dance?" He asked instantly, "sure." We walked toward the dance floor, he put his hands on my hips as I put mine on his for arms. It's not the most comfortable position but it's where he put them. I looked at my shoes, resisting the urge to look around.
I don't know why but it feels like there are a million eyes on me. We stayed there for a minute or two not saying anything. I was starting to get uncomfortable, it's not Mica's fault it's just that I was simply not comfortable getting swayed obnoxiously. Soon Mica stopped swaying me like I was rag doll. "You mind if I cut in officer?" My head shot up in shock, it as the captain. "Sure sir," and with that Mica left fast and head down. "Would you like a dance?" He asked lowly, I don't know what I should say honestly. If I say 'yes' then my feelings get amplified, and I'm screwed. If I say 'no' then he gets offended, and I'm screwed.
"Please? I promise I don't bite." I nod yes and he takes my hands and without hesitation puts them around his neck. He snakes his arms around my waist as he swayed my gently. As if I'll break if he does anything else. He looks into my eyes, and my heart was beating so fast a think he could feel it. With our chest gently touching, his lip starting to ghost my ear.
"You look ravishing." "Thank you, sir." "Y/n, please were off duty call me Jim. Sorry for taking you away from your date, it's just that you did not seem all that enthused." "Oh, he was not my date. He just asked me to dance." "How about you sir?" He gives me a pointed look. "I mean Jim." "I'm afraid not, the girl I have my eye on doesn't seem to notice." He Whispers dispiritedly in my ear. "Well sir I think your wrong." "Oh?" "Yes, Lt. Flores most certainly has her eyes on you."
He sadly chuckles lowering his head into my neck. With every breathe I swear my skin heats up even more. "You're a heart breaker, anyone ever tell you that?" I look over and see Flores glaring at me ever so slightly. "Not recently sir, go talk with Flores." "But -" "I'm getting tired anyway, have a nice night sir. See you tomorrow." With that I leave the captain on the dance floor.
It hurt to leave him with a woman who honestly hated me, but I could not keep dancing. I hate the idea of him being bored and just indulges himself with me. I head towards my quarters, but I get distracted by a nebula. I sat on the floor watching the beautiful hues of purples and yellows. Just being content with the moment. Trying to get my mind off of the captain. I have to he is the captain; I work on the bridge I see him every day. I can't let this affect my life no matter how hard.
"May I sit?" "Sir? Shouldn't you be inside?" "Probably but there is something much more gorgeous out here." "Yes, the nebula is terrific." He sits knowing I forgot to say if he could or not. The captain just sat there looing in-between me and the nebula. I kept my eyes on the natural art. Finally looking at him. His strong features scan mine. As he looks down at our hands barely touching each other's.
"What's wrong sir." "Y/n, the women I love walked away from me today. Now I feel like she will never love me the way I love her." He dead panned looking deep into my eyes once more. I could swear I saw tears edge those delicate eyes. "Sir, I'm so sorry; I know that this is a delicate question but who?" "Y/n, please this act has gone on long enough." "Act?" "Yes, it's just starting to hurt now." "Jim what are you talking about?" I ask grabbing his shoulder gently.
"You are pretending that you're oblivious." "Oblivious towards what?" "Towards the fact that I love you?" I sat there stunned. The man of my dreams just said that he loved me, and now I'm staring at him as if he has two heads. "Please say something." "I had no idea -" "Y/n-" "No, I had no idea. I thought you liked the Lt. Flores with the hair of gold, and the legs for days?" "When did I say that?" "I - well I kind of assumed. I would never in a thousand years think oh yeah the captain Kirk has a thing for me." "I don't have a thing for you. I Love you. Not Lt. Flores, sure she talked to me, but when I saw you with Mica I couldn't continue." "I don't want to be a toy captain." "Never." he said sternly, as if the idea of him using me was blasphemous. "I love you too." I said instantly leaning in closer.
He grabbed the sides of my face gently kissing me. Kissing me passionately. Leaving small kisses around my face. "Say it again." He asked breathlessly. "I love you" He smiled from ear to ear. "I love you; I am so sorry that I made you doubt that. I promise I'll spend eternity making it up."

It was a normal day as always. (Y/N) came home from Work and relaxed on the couch with her favorite drink and Snack. Well.. except this Day was not gonna be a normal Day... It slowly was getting darker outside when suddenly a bright light lit up for a short second. (Y/N) turned her head to find the source but was only met with darkness. Shrugging her shoulders she blamed it onto a Car that drove by and continued to watch her favorite Show, when suddenly... *FLASH* another bright light lit up the room. This time not being able to blame it on a nearby Car the Girl got up following the now softly glowing light. As she got closer a giant Mirror like round Objekt slowly grew bigger and bigger and bigger. Strangely being pulled towards it (Y/N) slowly walked closer and closer till she could clearly see herself. Around her everything grew dark.. all she could see was herself, smiling at her and slowly reaching out her hand. As if being the reflection and not the real Person (Y/N) reached out as well and just as their fingertips touched a bright light surrrounded her and then.. everything went black again.
“Is she awake yet?” a distant voice asked. “Don’t thinks so...” another one answerd. Both were very deep so obviously Males. Slowly blinking her eyes open yet another bright light made her squint. “Gosh... turn down the light will ya...” She rasped hoarsly. The girl could make out rustling beside her and slowly tried to open her eyes again.
As she finally got used to the light she was met by two very concerned looking (very handsome) male Faces. One turned around and raised an eyebrow at her. Making her eyes wander she then was met with yet another (handsome... ;P) face again. Out of reflex (Y/N) tried to get up only to let out a loud painful groand as her head hammered like she was run over by rhinos. “Slow down girl!” The first handsome man said as he suddenly was by her side and pushed her down again. “Wh- Where am I?” (Y/N) asked with a shaking voice. “The Enterprise.” Said men answered again as he finally pushed her back down. “Now relax. You look like you’ve went through hell.” (Y/N) let out a dry laugh but obeyed either way. As she slowly was starting to relax she suddenly bolted upright again when she felt a sting in her neck. “What the-?! What’s your damn problem?” The girl hissed rubbing the sore spot.
“Maybe she is healthier than we first assumed Doctor.” The second men piped in. The glare that was first aimed at the Doctor now turned towards the other men, making him raise his eyebrow yet again and slowly avert his eyes. “It would appear so...” The Doctor mumbled. (Y/N) turned her attention back to her sore neck and let out a sigh of relieve as the headache slowly started to melt away. “What’s your name Girl?” The Doctor suddenly asked making her attention go back to him. “(Y/N) (L/N).” She answered.
The Doctor nodded shortly before answering her as well. “Well (Y/N) the name’s Leonard Mccoy and pointy ears over there is Commander Spock.”
“Well.. it’s a pleasure to meet you guys I guess?” She said it more like a question. As her eyes continued to roam around the bright lit room Spock spoke up again. “Can you remember anything that happend before you.. well ended up in this situation.” (Y/N) shook her head in response humming a soft no. “Interesting..” He mumbled before turning to Mccoy again. “You seem to have everything under control here. I’ll return to the Bridge now.” Mccoy only answered with a short grunt and with a soft swish of the doors Spock was gone.
“So.. (Y/N)..” Mccoy started turning his attention back to her. As she realized he was talking directly to her, her attention turned back to him as well. “Yes?” She asked. “I need to take a blood sample from you. Just to check if you’re really alright.” The girl only answered with a short nod before holding out her arm reflexly. Mccoy took out a strange looking tool and gently pressed it against her arm. It stung for a short second but shortly after she could watch her blood slowly flowing into the tool. It was quiet till... “Where exactly are you from?” Now it was her time to raise an eyebrow at him. “(H/C)? Why are you asking?” Mccoy only shrugged his shoulders. “Making up small talk I guess.” (Y/N) chuckled softly at that. “I see..”
The Girl slowly pulled her eyes away from the tool as he was finished and looked up again to ask him the same as well when she suddenly realized something. While Bones was taking her blood they seemed to have gotten closer to each other. Sucking in a sharp breath she swallowed her last words which resulted in a Gasp like sound. This got Bones attention as he looked up as well only now realizing how close they actually were. His Brown eyes met her beautiful (e/c) ones. Neither one being able to just look aways they kept on staring at each other for what felt like hours which were only minutes.
SWISH
“Bones! I heard we have a surprise visitor. How’s she doing?” An unfamiliar Voice called out. This startled both Bones and (y/n) making the poor girl almost fall down from the examination table. Bones turned around being suddenly very interested in the tools on the table beside him.
Jim being Jim of course knew what this strange air was all about. With a shiteating grin he walked towards them. Not paying any attention to the very Busy looking Doctor he send a flashing smile towards (y/n). “If I knew our guest was this Cute I would’ve come down here earlier.” The men in yellow said. “My name’s Jim Kirk. Captain of this loevly Ship.” He said to the slightly confused looking girl. “I’m (y/n)..”
“Don’t scare the poor girl. She just got some strong pain medication.” Bones suddenly spoke up making both of them look over at him. Jim chuckled softly at that. “My, my already getting protective of her are we?”
Bones didn’t pay any attention to his remarks. “ ‘am protective of all my patients.” He retorted dryly. The Captain gave him a ‘whatever I don’t belive you’ look and turned back to the girl. “Well I let you rest then. If you feel better I’d love to chat about your Planet.” (y/n) only nodded at that and with that said he left them alone again.
Letting out a sigh Bones walked back over to the girl. “You should rest now. We talk later when you are healthy again.” (y/n) nodded at that before closing her eyes. If it wasn’t for the painkillers she probably wouldn’t have slept at all but thanks to that she fell asleep really fast.
After (y/n) closed her eyes and her breathing steadied Bones let his eyes wander over features. Something about her made the Doctor feel all giddy and nervous. It was annoying but at the same time refreshing for him. He quickly realized what was happening with him and knew that the future would be a whole lot of trouble.
