Hi! Just followed you and joined your server too lol. I'm not exactly new to tulpamancy but I've been more committed to the community itself recently.

I've always heard that "tulpamancy is cultural appropriation," and then went down the willogenic/willomancy =/= rabbithole. Now I'm lost. I understand that willomancy/willogenic systems as a term have been created to "avoid cultural appropriation"? How is tulpamancy appropriating Buddhism?

I can't seem to find any sources that support or debunk this myth, and while I don't believe we're appropriating anything, I'm afraid of saying I'm a tulpamancer out loud because of how many people can tell me I'm appropriating something.

Hence I'm here, as you're one of the more knowledgable tulpamancy blog I know of.

Even if you know the bare minimum: Tibetan Buddhism isn't even a closed religion; a simple web search debunks this idea that's it's a closed practice. Tulpa at best is a borked up loanword with a completely different meaning from the original, which loanwords are a very normal concept in language and is not exclusive to this, nor is inherently appropriative. Again, the claim that it's appropriation was made by a sysmed and was NEVER in good-faith. Genuinely fucking pisses me off people took this sh!t remotely seriously and let it fester and spread to this point.

Just a note, ‘sysmed’ being like the word transmed isn’t transphobic. You are trying to make a complex psychological phenomenon purely medical and gatekeep those who don’t fit diagnostic criteria (for a disorder they don’t claim to have) in your eyes. That’s the x-med bread and butter. If you are sysmed, you believe in the medicalisation of systemhood. You can dislike the word but it’s literally what you are. Kindly stop using trans issues as a scapegoat to defend yourself. The irony that, to draw the parallel, Endogenic is like the NonBinary of the system world. Okay TOSD(theory of structural dissociation) fandom, I have a question:

So according to the TOSD before the age of what, 8-9 or something you're made up of these ego states that then integrate if you're a singlet and if you experience extreme trauma don't.

What are the ego states? How many are they? What happens to them? Can you tell me who in your system developed from what ego state? Is the hungry ego state just always hungry? Do they become the sin of gluttony or something? I genuinely want to know because not only can I find nothing about these ego states other than specific references to the TOSD, I have never heard anyone mention how many ego states you have and what they are. The most popularized version of ego states I could find applied to everyone, and was about adult/child and I think a third, as well as Freud's ego states.

As much as this does genuinely baffle me I know it'll be more useful to have a respectful conversation about it so I will try not to be too sarcastic. This isn't the right place for sysmed shit or talking about why Onno van der Hart lost his license, trust me we are aware of all that but that isn't the purpose of this post so please save it for another place and another time.

Edit: I apologize for coming across as rude/hostile, the TOSD comes with a lot of negative association for us since it often correlates with other.. unpleasant traits and conversations, which isn't exactly fair to project onto everyone involved. I kind of tacked onto the end of the post that I want a respectful/amicable discussion but never went back to remove any of the snark at the beginning. tl;dr 

I support self-dx as long as you’re only using the label internally and using it to search for coping mechanisms. If it really bothers you, seek professional help, not strangers over the internet. You can legitimately brainwash yourself into your own god damn mind emulating Plural (&) (/metaphor), especially with the “aid” of internet strangers who only seek to validate you and tell you that you 100% have this disorder. 

I went through the god damn cult-like mentality of endogenic/plural echo chambers for two years. I went through thinking I was a system. Don’t let it happen to you.

Systems who are bodily "old" - be it senior citizens, or simply above 18, 25, 30, or whatever this site thinks is "too old" - deserve support.

Systems don’t just stop having problems and become selves-sufficient past a certain bodily age. Like singlets and younger-bodied systems, they still need friends, help, and a supportive, safe space.

And people don’t turn into predators the moment they’re 18, 21, 25, 30, or whatever arbitrary age you assign “old” to. That’s not how it works. Predatory behavior is about abuse, about power. Not age. A lot of older-bodied systems are good people.

Systems who are bodily young - be it under 25, 21, or 18 - deserve respect.

Just because a system is in a young body, doesn’t mean they don’t know anything. They may have less experience or knowledge, true, but they are still worth listening to. Someone’s lack of know-how doesn’t make them less valuable.

And you know, some young-bodied systems are knowledgeable. They want to learn, research, and listen to others’ experiences, they are respectful. Not all of them are misinformed exclusionists/sysmeds who are stubborn and harass/abuse people in the community. That should be appreciated.
